I just wanna clarify she's not one of the least popular members ANYMORE. She was once especially when they first debuted and for the first 3-4 years, she was very overlooked because the company placed her in the back. However, ever since time for the moon night and sunrise, things shifted with the hush performance back in 2019 and her popularity exploded in Korea. She's mostly always in the top 10 or top 30 for brand reputation. Her popularity has grown more since apple released and she's like the 3rd most followed member on instagram amongst all the gfriend members. She's now one of the most popular members especially in Korea and is getting more regarded for her visual (not so much still but is getting there). Edit: Also this woman deserves SO much praise. She is the most selfless person I've ever seen. She never complains about not getting enough lines to sing, or being put in the back, or not having the same amount of solo gigs as her members. She happily gives the members their spotlight even if she doesn't get anything from it, and thats what we call a damn good leader.

@MiniButterfly Look at her apple fancams. Her mago fancams are lower this time, but she's still getting 50-60k on some of them. If instagram numbers don't count, then so shouldn't fancams. Also they don't have the same amount on ig. Sowon has 700k. Umji, sinb, and yuju all have 600k something. Yerin and eunha have a bit more than 730k. There is a huge difference if we're talking about numbers. She's easily one of the popular members atleast in Korea for sure. She always tops brand rep more than any of the gfriend members. She stayed in top 10 for like months this year and last year.

Sometimes very popular members fancams don't get a lot either. Sowon herself may also be refusing work since she's kinda shy/ introverted. Maybe she likes being with her members.

She just recently mc'ed animal farm. The brand reputation is based on the data collected in various indexes including participation (brands the celebrity has participated in/product consumption), media (media marketing worth), communication (ability to communicate with public) , and community (community’s perception of them/social marketing worth) to determine their brand reputation. It’s essentially a ranking published by organizations in Korea that reflects how much (traditional + social) media buzz a group member has had in the past month so it kind of matters, and sowon tops it. In terms of fancam, I've seen the most popular members get the least views. Most people enjoy watching fancams of the main dancer or main vocalist anyways. Like I said, I genuinely don't think she's unpopular. Yes sometimes in the gfriend comments people don't talk about her, but sowon stans I've noticed are just more chill and quiet. I've also seen comments by korean fans who have said she's one of the most popular members in korea, they know more than we do tbh.

sowon has very long limbs, so naturally i think she would be thinner. she can’t help that. people think weight is something that’s so easy to deal with when it’s not, it’s completely different for everyone. sowon has long limbs, so any weight gain isn’t that noticebale. whereas for me, i’m 5’2 and my limbs aren’t that long so weight gain is noticeable. it’s hard for her to gain, it’s hard for me to maintain. everyone is different. i hope people become nicer and more considerate towards these idols and take more into consideration. also, these companies really need to learn how to deal with taller idols and different body types. that’s where a lot of these problems come from i think.

For people who are confuse about the popularity : Sowon and Umji is the least popular during debut era, Umji was because people are questioning her beauty (which is ridiculous) while Sowon was basically got called "Talentless visual". But this was in the past, ever since 2019 Sowon have been gaining a lot of popularity. She hosted a beauty show, win an award, make her debut as a model, getting more lines and more. Even now she got a new job as MC. Shows are calling her more often now, and wants her to be their guest. In 2019 there's a poll in Korea where they vote who's the most popular member in korea (including other groups) and Sowon was ranked in top 3. Sowon also got acknowledge for her beauty , she's the top 3 Korean beauty u know😂. Ever since then, Sowon have always got into korean news for her beauty. She's quite famous there. She begin to have lots of solo activities now But popularity isn't everything, I hope people won't try to compare this and that.

You guys know that Sowon is constantly on top of the other members in individual Brand Ranking in SK right? She’s only challenged by SinB and sometimes Eunha. The ones that are at the bottom are YERIN and Yuju. She had her own solo program, model runaway, solo stages, her unit song with Umji is also leading in streams above the other units and she’s highly acclaimed by kpop stans that don’t think hating GFriend makes them “cool”, Sowon IS popular. Sowon is my ult bias since debut and honestly I've never read comments about people hating on her weight instead i saw people praising her for her perfect body proportions and her long leg .. it's either i was too ignorant for those hate comments or it's not that serious, but in this video I saw sowon commenting on that makes me feel guilty, I've been her stan for years yet I only know about this just now. My cousin is the same with her, they're both tall and thin, but my cousin is so healthy and maybe that's why I don't really care about her weight instead I really admire her for that and her stamina. Ppl need to understand that gaining weight is just as hard as losing weight. As someone who barely gains weight, we rly have to push ourselves to eat way beyond our limits and feel like throwing up after every meal in order to gain a pound or two.
