The only difference I really hear is in the backing vocals. The oohs and aahs. And personally I think they could easily have not changed it the music is of better sound quality but whoever bought a Gigi record for that reason. Jimmy it just sounds weird I grew up on the real thing. Not that that makes me anything special it just is what I expect to hear when I listen to this record. Besides it was already A step above the Sonic prowess of most punk bands of the time. That sound was part of its appeal. What's next re-engineering The Dead Boys.

I was lucky in that this was the first g GG that I ever heard. Had I have heard oh his last three albums first I probably would not have cared that much. But this record was part of my childhood and although my copy was called Always is was and always shall be. This is a pretty true representation but I don't think they needed to change the backing vocals. This is definitely an arrangement I have not heard before. I believe it is the original recording. I just think that they turned up the girls in the oohs and aahs and it sounds weird. Nor was it necessary this song was a classic. I used to love playing this for people in the 90s and then when they would come back to me later and say play GG Allin I would put on something from the Scum fuckks or Texas Nazis.. which is actually actually one of the most hilarious comedy albums of all time. And then watch their reaction is they didn't get the glam they were looking for. Plus I would never tell them which album to look for. Farewell sweet prince we still miss shitstain jockstrap.

This is the original version, from the B-side of the "Bored to Death" single. The band later on re-recorded it with the girl backup singers when they put out the "Always Was" LP.

Sorry, this was recorded before the Auburn, NH sessions, but at North Country Sounds, the female was brought in to dub in her vocal. Since it was worked on in that studio during the recording of that first LP, I got mixed up. {I was present during the North Country Sounds sessions. In fact, my favorite memory of that time was being with GG in the vocal booth when he did the vocal on, "Don't Talk To Me". He was reading the lyrics - he didn't write that one - and making faces at me, as I sat quietly on the floor in front of him.}

GG & the Jabbers, in 1980, closed their set with, "I Got A Right", the Iggy song. I have a recording of that, if you're interested or haven't already heard it, recorded in 1980 at The Rat, in Boston, when they were doing a series of gigs with David Peel - whose entire set I got on tape, as well, with GG on drums and Rob Basso on guitar, playing with Peel. I can be Emailed at jimdangerzone@gmail, and would be happy to share these recordings with anyone who wants 'em.

I ran across a version of this where you're not allowed to comment. I'm certain Sr Alin would have likely wanted us to have an open conversation. He's not here to say either way. GG would have wanted us to kill each other without discretion. We should all be dead now if that loony toon had his way. I'm glad he didn't get it. He made great music though. I'm still bored to death.

GG WORSHIPED Iggy in those early days - he even claimed that he got "GG" by taking the two middle letters from "Iggy"! Later, he turned bitterly against Iggy - as well he should have, and as I did too, once that phony asshole played along with that sham, the Hall of Shame. In a letter GG wrote me in late '92, he wrote, "Iggy is a fucking pussy coward."
