Golovkin won the first fight over Canelo. The second fight was a draw. It was all politics, judges just gave Golovkin's titles to someone who did not win. Oscar Dela Hoya also got involved with the crocket judges.

What Kelly was saying is that these rivalries that consist of punchers brawling take a toll on the fighter. The best examples are Marco Antonio Barrera Vs Erik Morales and Israel Vazquez Vs Rafael Marquez destroy their body and their career with those trilogies. And they had to retired after that, mostly Mexican style rivalry, Marquez vs Pacquiao and Corrales vs Castillo were also never the same after their rivalries.

I’ve watched the second fight 6 times now. No sound, just deciding for myself without Max and Roy’s bullshit “story of the fight” commentary. I can’t find Canelo a seventh round where he wins outright. Plus, GGG was never in trouble, not once in that fight. Canelo was shaken twice and lost the later half of the fight. At best it’s a draw, but that’s my opinion. If they fight again, I don’t think it goes so well for GGG. Derevyanchenko gave him all he could handle and GGG just looked slow. If anything he should move up to 168.

One thing that people always forget is the pre fight expectations and most become revisionist historians. GGG is the real deal and the hardest puncher to come along since Pavlik and Miranda + awesome defense to boot. I saw GGG knocking people out by punching the top of their heads, how crazy is that. The consensus was that he would destroy Canelo within a few rounds, too big, too talented, to powerful- yet the fight happened and At the end of the fight Canelo looked clean like he does after most of his fights. GGG on the other hand looked a bit more bruised than when he fought Jacobs. In the rematch Canelo walked down GGG and messed his face up pretty badly, and aside from the cut Canelo once again did not have that much damage. In both fights GGG mostly head hunted, so if he was connecting like many people that believe that he won, how come Canelo showed less damage. Only logical conclusion is that Canelo’s footwork and head movements were making GGG punches miss or at the very least taking the sting of the punches. If the punches are not damaging your opponent then it is ineffective aggressiveness and not worthy of being rewarded with the win.

Canelo out-landed Triple G with power punches all night in the second fight. Triple G did closed the gap in the middle rounds but at the end Canelo landed at least 30 more power punches. Canelo's power punches were brutal and I give it to Triple he has a chin. This is why I predict Canelo is going to make easy work of Daniel Jacobs and KO him in the middle rounds

Canelo left his face battered, but also showed more versatility in his attack. Probably the best shots by either fighter were Canelo's body shots which casuals have a tendency to overlook. Meanwhile GGG 's body attack was practically non-existent. Btw, Canelo didn't KO Jacobs but he was making it look easy in many of those rounds, dodging and ducking entire combination sequences by Jacobs and catching him with hard counters. Canelo's defense is another underrated aspect of his game. The thing is, top guys like Jacobs (and even GGG) are more defensive and reluctant to open up against him because of his excellent defense and counterpunching ability.

Gennady Golovkin won those first two fights, and I don’t think I’ll ever change my mind on that. I recently rewatched them again, and scored them and at best for Canelo I had the second fight 7-5 in favor of Golovkin.

When Canelo fought Floyd he was a 154lb fighter and Floyd was at 147. So he only had to cut 2lbs and Floyd had to gain 5, and Floyd could only get to 150.5. Canelo was nowhere near drained. He's the king of catchweight, constantly making fighters drain down for an advantage. The PED's and stacked wraps aren't quite enough of an edge.

@Cole huesta when boxers and mma guys make weight they have 24 hours to hydrate and gain weight back for the actual fight. When canelo fought floyd, his normal weight was around 175ish to 180lbs. He had to cut down 20lbs plus to make 152 pound limit. Floyd walks around 155ish and didn't need a drastic weight cutt. This is normal for this athletes to cutt weight and have a size advantage on fight day, but sometimes the weight cutt is to much and your body doesn't respond well or has enough time to recover. In reality no one actually fights at the weight they fight at, there always 8 to 20 pounds over the weight on fight day.
