@@melissagreene3925 Same! Apparently it was between Tabyana the girl who plays Esme and Sydney originally for the role. They always considered this actress for this part, they just ended up going with Sydney instead. She was next up in line and I see why! Haha

I'll admit I was so glad she read him down the first time I saw this😅. But, damn rewatching this scene with the knowledge of how COMPLETELY and irrevocably in love Spencer was with Trina at this point, 0:47-1:40 reeeallyyyy hurts now😭. It's like he can't even breathe. You can see the very second his heart is ripped out of his chest when Trina says her life is worse with him in it. And for the rest of the scene, he can't even sustain his fake act of pretending to be cold to her. Every single word Trina said stabbed him like a dagger and he can barely make eye contact with her. He's mumbling and tripping over his words-- so unlike all their usual fights when he can go toe-to-toe with her with ease. He loves her SO S.O.O. much and knows she's innocent, but you can see clear as day how, in his mind, Trina's just confirming what he thinks about himself: 'he's no good for her, he's made her life worse, he's not worthy of her, he put her a dangerous psycho in her path, she's better off without him' etc. And, even still he resolved himself to be Trina's single white knight without expecting anything in return, even if it meant losing the girl he never thought he could have to begin with. He just wanted to try and save her the way she'd saved him so many times already 😫😭

Absolutely agree. Well said. I was hurting for both of them during this scene. He starts off his ruse at first able to speak and everything but you're right. As soon as she said her life was worse, his heart just...broke. He started being unable to look her in her eyes and, like you said, was stammering and everything. And poor Trina just was devastated when she just wanted him to have her back like she'd always had his. Not knowing that he does. Gah. It hurts so much to rewatch these scenes.

Noticing that they started cutting to Rory more and more frequently during these scenes, esp as Spencer and Trina's words carried them further and further apart. Now this, right before "The Soda", they begin the scene by showing him physically between the two of them. Pretty good foreshadowing and blocking of these shots - TPTB are saying "pay attention to this cop, he's the new obstacle for these fated lovers."

rewatching this couple and their SL. Just noticed NAC is wearing a jacket now, that he wears about a year later after Spencer and Trina get together (I think it's there second kiss) anyways HAC has bulked up so much by then that the jacket looks almost too small on him :). Nice job GH recycling the wardrobe

Also . . . sigh, Spencer. Your body language always reveals you. You say all the opposite things to how your eyes, voice, and body betray you. You didn't want to leave when she screamed at you, you had to drag yourself away, but what did you expect? For her to understand? You want her approval so badly, and sure you came up with this idiotic plan to trap Esme, but why didn't you just listen to your body, your gut, your heart? You can't even look her in the eye when she's pleading with you to believe her because you DO believe her. Maybe you condemned yourself to months of physical discomfort putting up with a girl you despise to try to "save" the girl you love because you didn't think you deserved better at the time, but I hope from now on you LISTEN TO YOUR BODY and move accordinly.

Still too early with nunuTrina (TA) but thought the actress did well with anger. Loved the intensity. SydM skillfully nuanced her scenes with NC to show the undercurrent of attraction (and their history) which I'm not seeing at this point. Have to hope TA screen tested with NC being their chemistry is key to what we've seen between these two previously. Trial by fire for the new actress being thrown into the SL as it was picking up steam, becoming more complicated.

But NC’s day one on the set was with SydM so they got to develop their chemistry over time having several scenes together with no “pregnant” girlfriends waiting in the wings initially. TA walked into a major storyline on day one and was expected to produce all these feelings/emotions which is a tall order. She’s doing really well considering.

@@TexasGal. when Spencer and Trina first met I didn't get the chemistry; I thought he was a total creep, for several episodes lmao. Then they grew on me and I'm still a diehard Sprina fan. I feel like if Spencer was more in character during these scenes (not accusing Trina lol) they could've had more chemistry but it's so hard to tell with everything going on. He's fumbling for any reason to believe Esme could be innocent and he's losing Trina in the process, hopefully for only a temporary time.

@@TexasGal. TA has a lot of her plate being thrown into this SL. Did see her exhibit bit of 'spark' with the officer in the interrogation room which was confirmation she has more range. The scripts have called for her to be mostly 'one note' (anger) to this point. Her scenes with 'Joss' didn't work for me, nor her attempt to display crying. But will give her time.

@@orangecupoftea8929 Most definitely. And they have made Spencer so weak minded that it’s hard to wish him on Trina. She deserves better. That said, Spencer knows Trina didn’t do it. But he’s protecting Esme and his “baby” which quite frankly makes him worse because he knows Trina’s innocent. Smh.
