Thanks to the late Dutchman Albert Winsemius' counsel to LKY on economic strategies in the early days, SG was able to avoid economic perils and domestic hardship/chaos. His contribution was so significant that LKY bestow much national commendation and credit to Mr Winsemius. As an Ang Moh living in beautiful SG, I once tipped the auntie at a coffee shop. She was so lovely and I fell empathy and respect for her. All the locals stared at me weirdly though. I hope I’ve not done anything wrong 😊
@sleepandrelaxation3395 Жыл бұрын
If I see a foreigner, be it caucasian, black african or even a Korean or Japanese walking around in the heartlands, I would usually take a second glance. In most cases, it is more out of curiosity. It is rude to stare at others, hopefully as we have more foreigners in the heartlands, it becomes less of an oddity and people get used to it.
@ChrisPBacon-mo9ln Жыл бұрын
@@sleepandrelaxation3395 thank you so much! What I mean is that locals stared at me because I tipped the auntie 🙂 Probably it is something that is not done, normally haha

@@ChrisPBacon-mo9ln Oh, thanks for clarifying. You are right, tipping is not the standard practice. Definitely not at hawker centres or coffeeshops, I would look at you weirdly too. As for restaurants, there is usually a service charge included in the bill which is the "tip", so most people don't give extra. For me personally, I may give a small tip if the restaurant did not include a service charge and the service was good.
