That first kill was such a bait and switch. Decapitation tease followed by a strangulation tease just to end up with a PG13 defenestration. I *have* to imagine studio notes were like "NO YOU CAN'T BEHEAD A PREGNANT TEEN" and forced them to two redos and they kept all three deaths because undermining studio notes is a tried and true Hollywood tradition. Still, an elaborate death is the least you can expect when you mess with an elaborate device prized by the otherworldly, in this case Mary Lou's lament: crown disfiguration.

I am sure I am a weirdo but I actually enjoyed this movie. Definitely a big disconnect from the first movie - but "fun" in it's own right. Very 80s stylistically.

Hello Mary Lou is one of the messiest films I've ever watched. You get one great moment (like the locker room kill) and then a bunch of lame moments (like the death of the bully). I swear there's a great movie in here and Diablo Cody should write it.
