Do you think it unwise to leave a pump gun downloaded by one, chamber empty as "cruiser ready."
@OGsDangerShow

I prefer cruiser ready, but if you’re headed into harms way, ghost load your gun to have maximum capacity.

Always cruiser ready in the closet, then when the SHTF, grab your preferred ammo carrier an go to town, especially with pumps.
@yzhou05
@yzhou05 6 ай бұрын
Doesn't ghost load just refer to the shell on the loader with the tube full? So you can ghost load the 1301 and still keep the chamber empty, so you'll have 7+1. Given shotguns aren't completely drop safe seems the most prudent option.
@jpoeng
@jpoeng Ай бұрын
@@yzhou05This what I came here to say: To me, “cruiser ready” can include the ghost load as long as the chamber is empty. Then you are drop safe but simply run the bolt & you’re good to go

Now that is proof positive that you can learn something new every day. I have been shooting shotguns since I was about 10 years old. I was an MP in the Army, and I was a prison guard for 30 years. I just learned how to fully load a shotgun. I have never seen this even in my countless hours of tactical training. Thank you, Sir.

Gotta luv some 12 gauge- always had my 870 in my Crown Vic. During my tenure in patrol, two separate incidents, one on night shift and one during the day.... made two grown men empty their bladders in their Wranglers,,,, just by them hearing the sound of me racking a round (which is a universal language- no translation required) in the chamber and politely telling them, without raising my voice, "Sheriff's Office, you might wanna do what you're told. " Everyone compiled, and I went home safely at the end of my shift.

Maybe you remember this, I haven't carried anything other than a "patrol rifle"(even though my agency can't bring themselves to call it that), at one of the civilian agencies I worked for, a couple decades ago, we used to carry our 870s in what we referred to as "patrol ready". Is that what you could call this? All I remember is not having to do anything but switch off the safety, and we never had to rack it. Now, to clear it, all you need to do is pull back the bolt and dump the ghost round out? Thanks for the video and stay safe brother.

Short answer...Prob not, not worth it. Long answer. Depends. If you are talking about a Mossberg 500...don't try it. This is due to a mechanical difference in how the action works. In this shotgun, and in Benellis (and most semi suto shotguns), the shell lifter is DOWN when the action is closed. Which allows the ghost load. That is not the case for 500s. So you will be forcing a very unpleasant malfunction. I've seen it work with an 870 in the past...but not reliably.

Works with both of my Mossberg's, but it is a P.I.T.A to do and not really worth it to me. Some claim some dependability problems, but I've never had them fail to function perfectly when ghost loaded. I still don't know how they know that there is one waiting on the lifter. You'd think you'd end up with a jammed-up mess. Or I would anyway, but it does work.

Man I want one of these but in my county we're restricted to 4+1 tubes for semi automatic shotguns (also can't have pistol grips). And idk if I want to spend $1,500 on a 5 shot shotgun. I guess 6 with ghost load. I mean, one could choose to just not follow the unconstitutional magazine restrictions, buy the 7 round tube out of state, and become ungovernable. But, my professional advice ofc would be to "follow all local laws". 👀
