From what I understand, the PSN login is *required* for multiplayer, and most countries in the world *cannot* make a PSN account. The game is getting negative reviews because part of it is locked behind PSN, which makes the reviews relevant to this specific title.

Wanna point out that the reason people are leaving bad reviews, is because when the whole PSN thing happened with helldivers 2, they review bombed it, and sony revoked their decision. So I'm assuming they're trying to do the same here, make Sony change their mind. And the game is unlisted in many countries, because you can't buy it if you can't make a PSN account. So tons of people can't buy it. Negative reviews is the only thing Sony will understand (or not buying the game, but oh well)

I would normally with your point that giving a bad review on a game doesnt affect sony specifically. but in the case of GoT, Sucker Punch is owned by Sony. Sony Acquired Sucker Punch in 2014. Which in that case, the game results is directly impacting Sony's. The main issue, is that there is no other ways for users to express their displeasure with the situation. In comparison with the HellDiver drama we've seen a few weeks ago, Arrowhead isn't owned by sony but is purely a publisher.

Here's the problem. The problem with Helldivers 2 wasn't with the game Helldivers 2. It was the company. SONY was the problem there. Tsushima may not have done anything wrong, but the company did and will continue to do more anti-consumer practices. Did you see the "apology" Sony released for the whole PSN mess? "We're still figuring this out." Sony is a veteran in the video game market now. Sony is still trying to "figure out" how to not piss off it's customers? No. That's not what that apology meant. That apology meant "Hey. This scam didn't work. We're sorry you noticed. Next time, we'll try harder to either hide it better or just strongarm you all into doing it anyway." Sony knows how to make games people like. They've done it going on 20 to 30 years now. What they were apologizing for was being caught. They know what they're doing. The entire established video gaming industry needs a reality check. They need to feel fear. Fear that the customers have finally had enough. Because many of them have. When this whole PSN thing started, did you notice something? There was a distinct lack of measured discourse. There was no "Please reverse this Sony. This is not something you want to do." It was almost all "Fucking Sony! What are you doing you greed pricks! We're going to insult, spam, and review bomb you!" It was instant Us Or Them mentality. It was a fight. And it worked. Gaming customers have had enough being abused by these companies. I hope it keeps going. I hope it spills out to other companies too. I hope this hurts the bottom line of EVERY AAA gaming company to the point where they have to lay off their abused workers so those workers can go make their own companies. Because we live in a time where we don't need to rely on them. Anyone with the knowledge can make it in the gaming sphere on their own or with a small team.

"Getting laid off would probably be the best thing that could happen to you" is not a thing people like hearing but you're probably right. It sucks that we can't fix the problem without the victims taking a risk and hoping things collapse in time for the gamble to work, it's not just video games it's every industry. The writer strike, quiet quitting, this, even the recent campus protests; people have no power and know the "proper" places are the first that will be ignored by the people in power. I think Robin is right about Steam reviews not being the place to critique Sony, unfortunately it seems to be the only way they'll listen. It sucks because it has to to work is my takeaway.

giving games a bad review bc of the publisher is like being vegetarian bc you dont want to support the meat industry. its not about the game. its the only lever you have has a consumer.

Sorry, but I have to disagree on this one. I mean, how else is their audience supposed to voice their opinions on this effectively? You can't even buy the game in 180 countries or so. *That ban is in place BECAUSE of their desire to have players login to and use PSN!* Do you think Sony is going to listen to people rage on Twitter? I'd argue that having the game branded with "mixed" or "negative" reviews on the main storefront it's sold on is far more likely to be noticed by and get a response from Sony because it might turn away potential buyers.

you want to detatch the game from the publisher but that is not possible. it is like separating the art from the artist. if an artist is abusive, can you still enjoy the art? some people are okay with that, some people are not. the game/the art is the victim here. true. but it is the bad draw of luck that the publisher is abusive.

8:00 It's entirely beside the point of this video but I INSTANTLY heard Teach, it's pretty cool to see Japanese VA's just as prevalent as our English ones like Yuri Lowenthal. A positive note out of all this.

it's the fact if you want the online feature you need a PSN acount when helldivers 2 showed that anpretty much anygame requiring a third party account is just corporate bs and honestly having to make so many accounts to play pretty much any game today is just corporate putting profit over consumer as to any place you put your private information for an account just makes that information weak to any leak any third party compagny . So no more #turdpartyaccount and lets end this corporate bs

So don't say bad things about Sony on the Sony game because it's not the Sony's games fault it's Sony's fault. The game by SuckerPunch, a company owned by Sony, a game published by Sony. SuckerPunch is Sony. PSN is required for part of the game therefore the Steam reviews are fine to be directed at Sony.

I see what you're saying about games not running because the computer is bad. However, I cannot play GoW with my brand-new computer because page files spam my PC. They still haven't fixed it. Sometimes, it's a valid criticism on Steam. I don't play Ghosts of Tsushima, so I can't weigh in, but Dad of Boy is lost, seemingly forever, to me, and I has a sad.

This is such a bad take. You missed the point entirely... The Sony BS is about the game not being available in a whole load on regions and the community is sticking up for the users in those regions (as they should). Also, shitting on people who are experiencing crashing issues is real gross and elitist. They may have a top tier PC but some people just get crashes on some games, it's not always because their system is old or slow.

I don't fully agree, I think that Steam Reviews can be helpful to warn buyers about things that are wrong with the studio or publisher. In this case yeah they are a bit dumb but in other cases it works much better than this. I enjoy your rants though :3

A PSN account is required for multiplayer mode. Not singleplayer. That's the nutshell of it, and I guess people are confusing the situation of Helldivers with GoT.
@zenoxp89286 ай бұрын
Ngl this is kinda a bad take, I spoke about this before and it is TO A DEGREE the studios fault only because they agreed to a contract with Sony as the publisher buuuut yes it is mostly Sony's fault for having their game restricted but what you don't talk about is this: What is the job of the publisher? The publishers job is to not only help the game studio with releasing, advertising and other things but also make sure they can release the game globally, if a publisher can only publish in say 16 countries out of the 195 then they shouldn't be publishing IMHO. The other thing is people will leave negative reviews because that is their way of revolting against decisions. However, don't quote me on this but I did see some countries being able to get access to helldivers 2 and GoT but they are using "Separate Packages" which to my guess means they don't require the PSN to play or login to the game.

Yeah, it's pretty bad when people do this because the company you're targetting isn't even gonna flinch. If you're gonna boycott something you won't get much done by attacking the tip of the iceberg. Go after the playstation's online system itself, denounce the incentives designed to trick people into subscribing to these services.
