Each flute song is meant to represent the different weather patterns in the game. In fact, they can be used to control the weather within the game. So say, if you want to infiltrate a fort or camp, you can actually summon a Thunderstorm by playing “Lament of The Storm” on your flute so you can use the natural sound to cover the sound of your footsteps etc.

They made it based on an actual invasion that took place by the grandson of genghis khan which makes it that much more great considering it’s something that me and a lot people just never research about we’re just like Ooo samurai. Thinking that jins story and contemplations he faced with the mongols is something that samurai in that very same event definitely had to overcome to actually beat them makes it that much more awesome..

@AKSBSU4 жыл бұрын
@@vVAstrAVv It's not just based on the Mongol Invasions. It was also heavily influenced by movies like Seven Samurai. Watch the first scene with Kyûzô in Seven Samurai and there is your standoff in GoT. It cannot be "historically accurate" to both sources; there were katana and even guns in Seven Samurai, which takes place a few hundred years after the Mongol Invasions.
@Luca-bv5ic4 жыл бұрын
I agree, it gives the game a sense of authenticity when it's not pure fiction. That said, Khotun Khan isn't real guy. Genghis khan had a lot of grandsons but Khotun wasn't one of them, he's purely fictional. The Mongol invasion wasn't led by a Khan, Kublai was emperor at the time and I'm pretty sure one of his generals led the invasion while he stayed home.

I love the system of navigating via the wind, it's such an intelligent design choice by Sucker Punch, and it manages to accomplish a lot via a very simple mechanic. Not only does it allow the player to remain more immersed by not having to stare at a minimap or compass, it also synergizes perfectly with the moving foliage and particle systems, to the point that the player doesn't even necessarily need to see the actual wind gusts, they can navigate by watching which direction the wind pushes the foliage in. This was a game that I knew I'd buy and enjoy, but it's also far surpassed the expectations that I had. I was excited when I saw that your review listed it as a definite buy, and I was even more ecstatic to see it given the "Walking the Walk" treatment. If you look closer at the environment and structure textures, you will notice they are really really low quality. But because of the amazing lighting, animations and environmental effects, it's hard to even notice.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been very spoiled by The Last of Us 2’s textures and quality. It’s simply amazing

@@ken-yo2hz Yeah that game has textures almost as good as modded Skyrim lol

I love these types of videos. The way they highlight what makes a game's open world cool and different. They're excelent complimentary pieces for when you're looking to buy an open world game. Phenomenal work, please keep 'em coming. ✌

Akira Kurosawa contributed "composed movement" and the developers emphasize on it heavly which is shown throughout the game environments being alive and interactive (ie being the wind compass) which players cant help not to notice let alone environment storytelling

this vid made me subscribe. This is Peak video game critique. The references to scientific studies and Bob Ross to reinforce your points... brilliant.

Love your walking the walks! These are so unique and insightful and after starting them, the time flies faster away than Tsushimas birds. Superb content!!!

God damn dude. Your reviews are...well something special, and honestly I think quite brilliant. While I don’t always agree with your opinions, of course, I do always enjoy watching you express those opinions, and walk through games. Thanks.

Love this vids, Karak, because it's always interesting to me what another person's pov is. Especially with the know-how you bring to the table. Can't support you economically but I do recommend whenever I can. Cheers mate🍻👍🏼

Thank you for taking the time to do this Karak. I ended up setting up Patreon and subscribing for the past couple months (only you and Digital Foundry so far, since I really appreciate the work!). This video definitely helped put some perspective on the game, especially after the trusted reviews kind of gave me mixed signals.

I admittedly skimmed around some parts. I know this wasn't about spoilers, but at the same time I just want to experience some of this stuff first hand. Still, this was an awesome presentation and loved this kinda video and appreciations for games and their craft. Just hearing the mechanical talk a lot in other spots with all the reviews, and as highly valued & necessary as that is, this is the kind of game that I needed this exact kind of video for. It reminded me yesterday while waiting the preloads, just what my hopes for it were when I started. I'm excited to see this setting and Samaurai immersion tackled, no matter how many "its kinda like AC, except kinda sometimes not" comments are coming in from other sources. Past a certain point, I'm done hearing about how climbing, stabbing, XP, etc works, and I'm more interested in knowing how this game went from developer's plugging in code, to how it will wrap around your mind in a moment-to-moment package. This video fills that void before playing, and honestly even after playing, it'll probably be nice to come back to after I've experienced some of it myself. Thanks Karak

I was thinking "like the guy pissing in the corner" right before you said it(when talking about NPC's sometimes doing mundane things besides patrols). Great minds think alike, thanks for doing the video boss!

Dude I love these videos! I don't tend to watch them for games that I don't plan on playing (unlike your reviews which I never miss lol).but it's awesome to see you break down games that I'm playing. I watched your AC Origins video after I finished it and I honestly never noticed half the things you pointed out!

The trees being harvested round the camps, are a detail i loved. It's something that makes it feel like everything was actually built as needed. This game was amazing. Absolutely loved it, can't wait to new game+ this gem.

This game was a dream come true, it was a beautiful love letter to Akira Kurosawa and Samurai films. The duels were like dances of death, the story although cliche, the journey Jin goes though perfectly encapsulated what it meant to be a samurai. I had no serious issues with this game, I only wish that if they make a sequel, they make the npc's more alive and the random encounter cutscenes more cinematic. But I bet that will be a little better when I play the black and white mode.
