Yeah, getting upset just because we are playing as a female is stupid, but I can understand the red flags about the voice actress being an unhinged activist, obviously she there just for voice acting but they choose someone who just shitting on people and blocking people who don’t share the same ideal as her than any other voice actresses who don’t, which raise questions if they share the same ideals as her and if they might add those in the game.

I'm all for playing as a female character, but some games I think just need a male character. Plus, even though it's a game, would a woman even be capable or allowed or whatever to be doing this kind of stuff? Ghost of Tsushima made it seem female warriors were very rare and mostly came from high statured clans and that was only when the husband died or something. I could be wrong though.

The setting where the game takes place is current day Hokkaido and where Mt. Yotei is located. The game technically takes place outside of Japan, because the area of Hokkaido was not completely under Japan's rule in 1603. That's probably why the guy in the beginning says "we are beyond the edge of Japan". The wolf is probably meant to be the grey wolf subspecies that was native to the area around Hokkaido but is extinct now. The wolf also ties into the culture of the Ainu people who are the native inhabitants of Hokkaido and the surrounding area. Wolves were revered in their culture and had a special status due to this.

The hate for the female character is because the chosen actor has some "woke" rants on her socials and people are thinking she'll make this role a political statement. I just want people to wait for the game to come out. Sucker Punch has written many perfectly fine female characters. In Ghost of Tsushima alone I liked the preformance and writing of Yuna, Lady Masako, Lady Sanjo, and Yuriko. A female lead is nothing to fear in my opinion.

@RageDuck0 I am not knowledgeable on her antics... but I personally separate art from artists and products from creators. Some Assassins Creed games are great, Ubisoft is not. If the lady reads the words on the page and convincing plays Atsu with love... I don't give a fuck how much she hates me for being a man or whatever she's mad about. This is a release trailer so I'm not surprised it's mostly cinematic. I’d say at this point only gameplay and story and “finished” and they still need to do 30% and 40% of the rest of the work. Also when the beginning says “beyond the edge of Japan.” it's because they reached Mount Yotei resides wasn't a part of Japan. But I think a part of the story will be Samurai beginning the their taking of the land.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe shamisens were imported into Japan through a port called Sakai. And her dual weilding makes sense given Miyamoto Musashi was alive and in his prime during this time. Muskets are also a cool detail given Japan was one of the biggest manufacturers of them in the 1600s. Overall, I'm excited. I have no reason to think Sucker Punch won't deliver again after how incredible Ghost of Tsushima was.

Mount Yotei is apparently visually similar to Mount Fuji to the point it was also known as the Fuji of Ezo. Speaking on the shamisen, that looks like an awkward choice of instrument for parkour rolls and all that. One thing that sticks out to me with this trailer is Hokkaido looking a little too Japanese here. There was a Japanese presence, but that island was largely inhabited by the Ainu, who are notably absent here. Even the idea that the island was "frontier" is largely thanks to them, so them not getting any presence in the trailer is a bit of an odd choice to me. Maybe they'll show something later on. Also, kinda bummed we don't get more of Jin's story.

From my knowledge, This would be an interesting era to look at, what with the reunification of Japan following Oda Nobunaga's death. Shogun is around this time, too, if you saw the show. As well as Miyamoto Musashi. When it comes to rogue-like behavior and using two blades, he is who will come to mind. I doubt that they made this person Musashi, so I have no issues. My only gripe is that there was more to work on Jin with, like the fallout of everything from the first, the Shogun's hit, and how he will adapt in this "new" world. Skipping forward will make focusing and doing more with Jin's story following the first game will be less in how I'm impacted by it if you jump 300 or so years forward. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I just hope Legends is continued and more content than the repeat maps and the Iyo raids. Gets dull after a bit.

I mostly played Ghost of Tsushima like you play the more recent God of War games. Although the game definitely encourages and needs you. To apply stealth and strategy in order to finish many sections of the game. I personally didn’t see any connections to The Ghost of Tsushima and Assassins Creed. Because I haven’t played a single Assassins Creed game ever. Also from a historical perspective. If the first had an alternative history of the Mongols actually invading Japan. In the 1600’s Japan and European powers were trading with each other. While the European powers were trying to open the Islands of Japan. There were also attempts by the Catholic Church. To establish a church in Japan. That before Christianity was outlawed in Japan. There were a good number of Catholic Christian’s in the country. That they became a sizable minority of Japan. Unfortunately for those people. Most of them died in the Shimabara Rebellion.

Looking forward to this game. I honestly can’t wait to see this dev team tackle new environments and mechanics and continue to build on the ghost franchise. I sincerely hope it’s more FFVII Rebirth/GOW Ragnarok/Horizon Forbidden West in terms of building significantly upon existing systems so there’s familiarity with the combat and expanded stretching of the limits of the PS5 in terms of visual fidelity and extraordinary leaps forward like Ghost of Tsushima was as their flagship PS4 game. I honestly can’t wait for this game, and if you’re trying to inject some political bent into the trailer, you’re probably a sweaty goober who desperately needs to touch grass. Art is going to be intrinsically political, and so are artists. You can enjoy the art or don’t. Crying about it isn’t going to make the artist change their vision for you.

i loved Ghost Of Tsushima, yeah there were a few things i raised my brow at. but i loved it overall. i'm worried about this not just because the VA is an unhinged bigot but because of both Sony's track record the last 2 years and the history of female lead media (games/movies/shows) so whilst i'm not yet ready to write it off like alot of people are (no judgment) i'm definitely going to be waiting for reviews to come in, but just seeing a character duel wielding i'm worried. now if that is a wakizashi and a katana instead of 2 katanas then great. otherwise.......... i am interested in how they've updated and improved the gameplay. 1 massive issue i had for GOW Raganrok was how much slower and clunkier the gameplay was so i hope in a souls like game like this we don't have the same issue.
