To be fair, a lot of the sexual tension between Percy and Clarisse is due mostly to them making Annabeth basically Clarisse in the first movie and so Clarisse kind of takes over Annabeth’s role as a result. They kinda ducked themselves with that :/

You know what’s sad the character of Percy Jackson was actually passed on Rick’s son, his son had ADHD alongside with Dyslexia and he didn’t like to read or write in school so he didn’t do his homework but then one day his son became fascinated in Greek Mythology in his school and started learning more about the myths and even played Hades in his school play, Rick read stories about Greek mythology to his son every night before his bedtime one day Rick ran out of stories to tell so then one day Rick made his own fictional story about Percy Jackson the sea of monsters just for his son then he showed it to his seventh grade students and they loved it, Rick wanted to publish it to a editor after some time he got an editor who was interested in his books and loved it so then they fully published it back in 2006 and voila The Percy Jackson franchise was created. But hey not all hope is gone there is going to be a series out of it.

That was very helpful, but I am wondering what the F Hollywood is thinking. I quiver with fear of the thought of Hollywood making an adaptation of Carole Wilkinson's Dragonkeeper series. Because they would F it up by casting non chinese actors for the parts, cgi the crap out of it instead of actually make the movie in China and of course pronounce the character names all wrong.

For those who havent read the book, the reason Tyson was able to get through the barrier: When Tyson saw Percy in danger battling the Colchis bulls, he fought tooth and nail against the barrier, crying "Percy needs help!" trying to help his friend, and Annabeth, in a moment of desperation, grants him permission to enter camp (the only way monsters can enter the barrier is if given permission), and he's able to rush in and join the fight against the bulls

If I recall correctly, Percy was also a bit of a dick to Tyson in the books. He felt like the fact that his dad had kids with other people in the same time frame he was supposed to only love his mom was a betrayal. He was also looking down on monsters and seeing them as lower because his introduction to them was having to fight and effectively "kill" them to protect himself and his friends. So even though they were established as friends (I think Tyson was also homeless at the time and Percy tried to help him), it took him a while to come to terms with him as a brother. I probably haven't looked at these books in a decade though, so my expertise is limited to what came back to me when you described what the movie did wrong.

I mean kinda? Percy wasn’t a dick to tyson at least not outwardly. Percy was ashamed at tyson because of tyson’s status as a monster and because of the campers insults and comment, but he still defended and care about him, i mean he even bribed the horse to let tyson get on the chariot so they can win and show that tyson isn’t really bad

I’m surprised I don’t really see this being mentioned but that weird tension between Percy and Clarisse is evidently the writers trying to make your typical YA Love Triangle out of relationships that weren’t there in the book as that was the big thing at the time, Hunger Games & Divergent being the most famous examples of this, with the idea also probably stemming from the original merging and then splitting of the 2 characters as it’s not hard to imagine Percy ending up with Clarisse or having to choose between her and Annabeth at some point in the future if the films had continued past this disaster.

15:44 A daughter of Atlas did NOT create Anaklusmos for Hercules. It was created by Atlas' wife Plione (not sure how to spell her name). Later she passed it down to her daughter Zoë who could hide it as her hair clip and was NOT supposed to give it to Heracles but she fell in love and did it anyway. Heracles later betrays her and doesn't return it to her. She was then disowned by Atlas for helping Heracles and that was the reason she hates men so much. Though it is unknown how Chiron got it but its story is the reason why Zoë had grudge on men and specially on Percy.

Something like this maby: Percy in the book 3-5: I WILL to put my life in danger during a quest I may or may not be on. Dam(ed) should you all be! Percy in HoO 2: I don't know who I am, but I don't like this god, so I put my life in danger by standing up to him (literally)! And hey. There is a Quest. So let's put my life in danger even more! Percy in HoO 4: I will put my life in danger for Annabeth (and my friend, but mainly Annabeth)! Percy in HoO 5: Maby I should put my life less in danger and rely on the help my friends offer me! Percy in ToA 1: If I put my life in any more danger, Annabeth is gonna kill me! Percy in MC 3: I need to keep my life out of danger to care of my baby sister!

The Ares Chariot was Clarisse AND Percy, with Clarisse actually needing Percy’s help. What ticks me off is that they name-drop the adventures from the Demigod Files, which I absolutely loved, but they f*** it up anyways. First, those all take place between books 4 and 5, and all showcase elements that haven’t been introduced yet. Second, Clarisse only shows up in one of those: the stolen chariot. Third, in that one, Percy helps Clarisse (who begrudgingly accepts his help) to recover Area’s chariot and to prove herself to her father. Putting aside the character development that hasn’t happened yet this far in the movie, Percy willingly lets Clarisse take the credit because a) she’s proving herself to her father and can’t let him know she got help and b) he just wanted to help a friend. He didn’t *want* credit; he just saw someone in need and helped them. That’s why this whole “one-quest wonder” bit falls so short for me: Percy doesn’t *care* about that stuff. In the Sea of Monsters book, Percy actually notes that he’s happy they didn’t get any credit for the quest.

Upon further inspection, that's one of the reasons why the Giants in heroes of Olympus don't seem quite as threatening as the Titans. Sure, Percy was able to battle guys like Hyperion and krios, but that was only when he had a lot of help, a terrain advantage, a few years experience and a few tricks that not even he fully understood. And the only reason they killed Kronos was because Luke killed himself before he could reform. And then there's the Giants, who are not only bigger but allegedly as strong, if not stronger. All of them are custom made to defeat a certain god and can only be killed by gods and demigods together. A supposed tough weakness, but apparently it doesn't matter which god helps kill them. And yes, I know that the prophecy kids are strong, but you expect me to believe that they killed the Giants after wading through an army with only their respective parents? And it didn't even take that much effort once the kids and parents started working together
@Doomzdeh
@Doomzdeh Жыл бұрын
@@owenmaleski2203 It’s because the Gigantes were actually considerably weak in Greek Mythology. They were defeated by the Gods much easier and quicker than the Titans ever could have been. The Titans (and the Gods) defeated Primordial-level threats, yet the Gigantes could never even beat Heracles. Plus, the Gigantes were dumber than the Titans too. They didn’t have as varied of powers as the Titans and never had the strategic logic to have children to swell their numbers. Legitimately the only thing that ever made them a threat was that Demigods had to aid the Gods to defeat them, so the Gods had to find a Demigod capable of defeating immortals and keep that Demigod alive.

29:42 Come to think of it, if they didn’t have Circe’s island, how were they ever going to develop further than the Percy Jackson’s, they couldn’t have gone into the Heroes of Olympuses because in Son of Neptune they have Reyna and Hylla from Circe’s island, how were they going to do that if Circe’s island never happened? I also just realised that they had Chiron in the movie, when it should have been the ghost of Tantalus after Thalia’s tree (which was poisoned before Percy came to camp) was poisoned, because then I think the gods thought he was losing his touch or something, so banished him from Camp Half-Blood, he went to live with his centaur kin, and that is how we are introduced to the Party Ponies

So I saw this movie as a kid as part of a field trip. They packed a small group into a bus and took us to watch this movie. At this point id never heard of Percy Jackson. I was sat next to a kid who *really* loved the books and he spent the next hour and some odd minutes COMPLAINING. I didn’t like the movie and I love listening to people complain so I didn’t mind. @@ninevehgrey that would also imply that the book he had no trouble giving away as a recommended read was accurate enough to the "real" events, leading me to belive Rick Riordan is actually just a really peaceful former half-blood camper that chronicled things that happened to real, modern demigod children in his novels. And that the reason he's so commercially successful but not exactly Rowling-successful is that a huge precentage of his readers are monsters & half-bloods in hiding. And then what of the campers when they read all the fanfiction about their friends who died/suffered in battle or the Athena Cabin reading about all sorts of "Annabeth x ___" ships, including Luke who's almost ended the world and died tragically- i'm falling down a rabbit hole.

The “Bronze Dragon’s Quest” could be one of 2 things: - it could be talking about Leo, Jason, & Piper’s quest in the Lost Hero, which, though it is true that Percy wasn’t involved in that, it is also true that Clarisse was also not in this quest, as well as the fact that this quest is so incredibly chronologically far from the SoM book. or it could be talking about - the quest that PERCY & Charlie Beckendorf went on in Demigod Files, which involved Percy & not Clarisse.

If Hermes appears as in his late teens and early twenties, Dionysus is somewhere between 23-29 Edit: I know, his traditions go waaaay back, but in most Greek mythological canon, he was shown as a relatively young guy.
