It must be an absolute blast to get to be those characters on stage because they're extensions of him, but they're things that he wouldn't be able to do or say as Tobias. He gets paid to go around the world playing heavy music, being this charismatic sexual deviant 😆

With Ghost, Tobias has taken the idea of Conceptual and Theatrical rock to a whole new level. He's upped the game in such a huge way. Ghost is a HUGE leap from the theatrical bands of the past... Even more so than Marlyn Manson from Alice Cooper, and in such a different and tasteful way. I love this shit.

@@illnevertell7863 Opinions are like assholes... everybodys got one. But as far as your "Ghost won't be around long"... You do realize they've ALREADY been around since 2006 right??? Close to 20 years... not quite a flash in the pan dude lol. And where else would you put them if not in the same camp as artists like AC and MM? They make very theatrical and conceptualized hard rock music, that is the vision of a very brilliant and enigmatic dude. Sounds like the Manson/Cooper camp is exactly where Tobias belongs to me. These guys are damn near the biggest band in the world right now.. Maybe you don't like them, and that's fine.. but to just blow off a band thats been around for well over a decade, and are constantly growing in popularity and musical prowess, as just some fad is just ridiculous.

@@manuelmirandawtf8345 , I love manson, I do... Some of the best concerts I ever saw were the dates I got to see on the Dead to the World tour throughout 1997... HOWEVER, as far as musical performances... it really wasn't that bands strong suit. Their shows were great for other reasons, the chaotic environment, the controversy, and the frenzy he could whip a crowd into. The audiences were almost as entertaining as the band. But Ghost is a different beast, that band is so good live, and the theatrics are so much more refined. I wouldn't say one experience is better than the other, they're just different. But speaking strictly from a musicianship and technically proficient perspective, theres no comparison, Ghost is a FAR better live band.

@@TheKartoffel101 I came from watching wrestling before getting into Ghost. Because of that, I kind of regard him in the same fashion. When Mark Calaway walks to the ring, that is The Undertaker, and you keep the kayfabe that he’s an undead giant with a magical urn (sometimes). Everyone knows he’s some regular (albeit huge) guy that hangs out in Texas, but that doesn’t detract from the aura built around that character. I think that’s why a lot of people get mad when you call any of the members of Ghost by their real names outside of interviews like this. It’s breaking kayfabe.

@@thenamelessghuleh I recommend you to watch Papaganda if you haven't watched it. It's a documentary about Ghosts back when they were anonymous. Tobias or better Papa Emeritus II and Special Ghoul talking about what the band actually is. Tobias learned Italian for his role back then just to hold interviews as Papa Emeritus II as well as to separate him from special Ghoul who was more of the "Press Guy" for Ghost. RN it's more like you see interviews about the movie but with just the Producer and Makeup artists etc instead of the cast.

@@TheKartoffel101 I love Papaganda! I wish the rest of the series could have been released. I think I see where you’re coming from in that regard. The dynamic of having a reclusive Papa and the smart-ass “Special Ghoul” underling speaking for the band was fun. It was a shame that it had to be abandoned, but I think the Chapters, the ARG elements and the more casual interviews that have come out recently are kind of refreshing in their own way.

This is one of my favorite interviews he's done. Because while Tobias Forge is very funny and silly at times, he possesses an intellect not shown by many artists today. His ability to convey his thoughts in a language not native to him is very eloquent and shows a deep understanding for what's happening beyond the bubble he lives in. He's incredibly well read, which in turn makes for these wonderfully deep songs. The new record has been on full repeat almost nonstop since it came out in my house. While Satan may not make an explicit appearance, the inherent evil and exploitation that sits within organized religion is on full display. When speaking about the black goo that's built up inside people, I was reminded of the slime in Ghostbusters 2. It made whatever emotion you were feeling more intense and made the characters act irrationally. Much of what happens to the knee jerk, sofa warriors of today. Forge makes it easier and more accepted to say you're an atheist. I've been some flavor of atheist since high school (I'm 37 now), and it's only been recently I could tell people comfortably that I'm an atheist, despite rising numbers of non religious people, at least in the states. There are always people who are so surprised he's well read and well spoken when it's always been my experience that people in the metal and punk scene are extremely intelligent and well spoken.

As someone who generally dislikes lead guitar, Ghost has always been an exception to me. Tobias writes solos that really stand out to me. Sadly, the solos from the new songs are so far very lackluster and generic to me. I get lots of people like it, but I personally miss Tobias' simplicity. I suppose for all I know Tobias wrote the solos not for note and he just went in a different direction, but regardless of the reason I just don't enjoy them all that much.

I love how tongue in cheek Tobias is when he (repeatedly) refers to those mind sets and behaviors being in the past, thank god, when I can just see at the back of his mind he's thinking how much worse Neanderthals we are today than we were back then and how we've learned nothing from those lessons of the past.

@@PodChklilpp339 ikr it’s not being rude to people but we just get distracted with holding eye contact and speaking what you have on your mind. We can’t do both lol especially with him and I we both have lots in common especially with his birthday being 3/3 and mine 3/1 and he’s only a year younger than me.

I am so fascinated with the way he speaks, the way he articulates and expresses his thoughts. Everything he said was so thought provoking and deep. No doubt that he's very intelligent and has insights on the many aspects of life. I really admired the parts where he spoke about cycles and linear thinking, everything was so intriguing. Love that you can see and feel his wisdom in ghost's music
