Close to 20 years... not quite a flash in the pan dude lol. And where else would you put them if not in the same camp as artists like AC and MM? They make very theatrical and conceptualized hard rock music, that is the vision of a very brilliant and enigmatic dude. Sounds like the Manson/Cooper camp is exactly where Tobias belongs to me. These guys are damn near the biggest band in the world right now.. Maybe you don't like them, and that's fine.. but to just blow off a band thats been around for well over a decade, and are constantly growing in popularity and musical prowess, as just some fad is just ridiculous.

@@manuelmirandawtf8345 , I love manson, I do... Some of the best concerts I ever saw were the dates I got to see on the Dead to the World tour throughout 1997... HOWEVER, as far as musical performances... it really wasn't that bands strong suit. Their shows were great for other reasons, the chaotic environment, the controversy, and the frenzy he could whip a crowd into. The audiences were almost as entertaining as the band. But Ghost is a different beast, that band is so good live, and the theatrics are so much more refined. I wouldn't say one experience is better than the other, they're just different. But speaking strictly from a musicianship and technically proficient perspective, theres no comparison, Ghost is a FAR better live band.

@@TheKartoffel101 I came from watching wrestling before getting into Ghost. Because of that, I kind of regard him in the same fashion. When Mark Calaway walks to the ring, that is The Undertaker, and you keep the kayfabe that he’s an undead giant with a magical urn (sometimes). Everyone knows he’s some regular (albeit huge) guy that hangs out in Texas, but that doesn’t detract from the aura built around that character. I think that’s why a lot of people get mad when you call any of the members of Ghost by their real names outside of interviews like this. It’s breaking kayfabe.

This is one of my favorite interviews he's done. Because while Tobias Forge is very funny and silly at times, he possesses an intellect not shown by many artists today. His ability to convey his thoughts in a language not native to him is very eloquent and shows a deep understanding for what's happening beyond the bubble he lives in. He's incredibly well read, which in turn makes for these wonderfully deep songs. The new record has been on full repeat almost nonstop since it came out in my house. While Satan may not make an explicit appearance, the inherent evil and exploitation that sits within organized religion is on full display. When speaking about the black goo that's built up inside people, I was reminded of the slime in Ghostbusters 2. It made whatever emotion you were feeling more intense and made the characters act irrationally. Much of what happens to the knee jerk, sofa warriors of today. Forge makes it easier and more accepted to say you're an atheist. I've been some flavor of atheist since high school (I'm 37 now), and it's only been recently I could tell people comfortably that I'm an atheist, despite rising numbers of non religious people, at least in the states. There are always people who are so surprised he's well read and well spoken when it's always been my experience that people in the metal and punk scene are extremely intelligent and well spoken.
