Tryed to do a thorough do it yourself video on removing a 3.6 liter engine out of a jeep wrangler jk i hope this helps you with your removal. This is part of the jeep hemi project im currently working on, reassembly will basically be this video backwards just be sure to replace any worn bolts and look online for torque specs if you so wish

About to pull the 3.6 out of my jeep, and thought hey let’s see if there’s any forums on pulling the engine. I doubt it but worth a shot. Sure enough there’s a whole hour+ video on it. The internet really does have everything 😂

Im at 304,000 miles on my 13 jk. Its running ok. Few sluggish issues here and tgere, camshaft codes, power train module code here and there. Local shop said its old and used and that i would replace it soon. Gonna ride it till i cant no more and change engine and tranny

I got a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys JL 4dr with a manual tranny that I just bought. I was looking for a place to drill a 3/4" hole to run a harness for a Rough Country switch controller between the firewall and the cab. There's no grommet due to the clutch booster. Do you have any suggestions? I would prefer not to go through the cowl.

If you have a local shop, it shouldn’t be too much money for you to go there and they’ll pull it out with a machine and if you have the newer style, refrigerant the store in the machine until you come back

Removing the starter and through drivers wheel well gets the transmission converter bolts sooo much easier

I've seen videos of 3.6 coming out without the TIPM and battery tray removal. Did you need that to come out for your swap, or do you think the removal time invested was worth it for the ease of access to the passenger side of the block? Thanks!

Yes, it needs to come out I have in my videos of the swap the modifications needed to the battery tray. I actually bolted a whole new battery holder onto it as well pull the whole tray.

Thanks for the video. Ive got a couple questions for you if you dont mind. My friend works on vehicles as well and is currently working on a 2018 wrangler. It has the 3.6L V6 engine. The owner had thought it had a cracked head, so my friend removed it and checked it out and it in fact, does need to be replaced. Idk exactly what the problem was but anyways, the owner wants to buy another working used engine to replace it with to get it functional again. Can other engines that are 3.6 v6s be used ? Or does it have to be the Pentastar V6 type that is in there now? Because they are having a hell of a time finding that specific engine. Sorry for my ignorance, idk much about cars, but was just trying to help and you seemed pretty knowledgeable in this topic. Thanks

Sorry its been a long time im sure you have your answer by now but any pentastar from a dodge mini van and so on can be used just transfer accessories

Off facebook market place and rebuilt it. If I were you look at reliable vehicle recyclers. Or auto wreckers that will give you a certain warranty on the motor. That way if you pop it open and find out that the engine is a dud you can swap it out you just have to be prepared and let them know what you’re going to be doing with that

Is there a way to pull it and swap (with different 3.6) and not have to evap the A/C?

Theres allot of reasons i would just evap it even with a mobile guy, you need to remove ac compressor and condenser and hard lines to pull engine out through top

got to replace a rear engine seal 2010. Easier to pull the engine or exhaust, transfer case, transmission etc? manual 6 speed

How many clicks on the motor. 2010 is the 3.8 which is horrible for lifter failure. Depending on engine kms your could pull motor and do lifters, head gaskets and timing chain and tensioner

What's the plug that comes out of the passenger Camshaft sensor but has the plastic hose clip and appears to go down the rear of the engine?

Hmmmm if you can tell me at what time in the video you see it i can tell you. Evap stuff on passenger side has hose that runs down back of engine and sits on passenger side by fuse box

Whats the process of removing the radiator if you cant discharge the AC?

Are you just removing the radiator? If so, I have a video about how to do that. The best way is to unbolt the ac condenser and then try and tie it up and out of the way with the old wire coat hanger or piece of haywire.

Well, ya, that R Freon, you was mentioning is very expensive indeed, it cost almost 5$ for 12OZ in Walmart. And the reason they went from R22 to R134A is that R134a is much safer for environment. In less then 2min on your video and I'm already asking myself, if this man really know what is he talking about? Alright, let see some more.

Just to add on the topic of venting refrigerant to atmosphere. It’s now 5 thousand dollar fine and could face 5 years in prison. 10 years for a second offense. I’m not a lawyer. it differs from state to state. I have a 609 (vehicle ac) and 608 (mobile refrigeration) certifications. That’s the one major thing they drill into you during training

Lol sometimes its on tripod other times its on the hand. I tryed a head cam a few times people complained o was making them sick. Tryed chest mount and nothing was in shot haha i sort it out one day
