Bought a DE10-NANO yesterday because of this channel can't wait to get it WOOT!

Awesome, welcome aboard!
@SmokeMonster5 жыл бұрын
@drencoss All you need is a DE10-nano and RAM (32MB or 128MB) and you have a complete MiSTer that runs every single core. You don't have any revisions to worry about. Most sellers are out of 128MB RAM right now but will be back in stock soon. There was a huge rush for it when it came out and they're just getting caught up now.

Finally got my MiSTer stuff ordered, ram shipped, other stuff in the mail also, Jan 3 arrival date. I can't wait! Asked my friend if he could 3d print, had pink filament so this will be dubbed the Mrs. FPGA I guess. Thanks again for the info and huge thanks also to the mister community!

If anything is going to get me into MisTer, is arcade games :)
@vasili12075 жыл бұрын
Yeah i hear that.... Mister vs Pcbs cost wise is a no brainer, i started collecting mvs games in 2002 had roughly 80 games and back then i thought i spent too much roughly £2,500 without postage costs .... sold a lot of them 3 years ago. And i will just say i quadrupled my money easily. Going to sell my last mvs games in the new year to fund a mister... maybe even my mvs 👈 i wont do it. It wont replace my consoles with flash carts ... but hopefully in the future it will replace 70% of my pcbs .... give another person a chance to own them i have had my fun with the real hardware
@jiminboo5 жыл бұрын
Vasili yeah man, nothing beats the real deal... but my biggest issue was apart from the expense, dealing with huge cabinets, CRTs etc... my goal with MisTer is eventually build a couple of bartops (one vertical, one horizontal) that won’t take up much space...
@vasili12075 жыл бұрын
@@jiminboo hahah thats funny ... iam getting a mister because of crt support .... but i live in the UK and have rgb scart but space is now a premium i can store the cab and crts but not all the software.... Software to me now is worthless 1's and zeros.... it holds no value to me .... This is how i see it now ... to have that original experience .... all you need is a faithful controller good emulation or Fpga and a crt ... you only interact with your eyes ears and hands if they can bee fooled mission complete.. but crt is a issue for most new people to the hobby as they normally younger and never watched anything on a crt I spent 150 on a ms3 arcade kit in 2004 .... now there over £500 complete lile mine .. od rather have the money 😁

Okay okay, stop it already, you got me! :) I will buy a MisTer when mister-addons aka Porkchop Express has everything back in stock (Hopefully in January.) At first I thought I didn't need a MisTer since I already have a Super Nt (+ SD2NES) and a Mega Sg (+ Mega SD) but all of the other consoles and computers make MisTer such an awesome device. Thank you for all your work SmokeMonster and what you do for the retro-gaming commuinty. I really enjoy your videos. You rock!

Same here, the MISTer is going to have me getting rid of all of my Analogue stuff as soon as I get my hands on all of the parts.

I don't think Jotego has built Direct Video support for any of his cores yet. I know he was testing adding DV to F1 Dream. I am sure it will be added to them in the near future. This video explains the strengths of MiSTer and Jotego's work really well.

You, I and others will need to pay him a wage then. I imagine each of these videos is at least 8 hours work. How many cores are there?
@SmokeMonster5 жыл бұрын
I'll keep this series going after New Years :)
@SmokeMonster5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'd say on average they're about 12 hours of work each. Some took a lot more though depending on how much content I needed and how long the script was.

Hell, I thought the "Hardcore" approach was how all FPGA cores were coded, based off the original hardware? I guess not?
@davidmckean9553 жыл бұрын
You can approach it two different ways, if you have the schematics you can implement the chip exactly how you see it. If you don't have access to that, you can implement all the instructions and logic of a chip so when fed the same input it outputs exactly that of the original.

Will the Mister as it currently is, ever be capable of doing CPS-1, CPS 1.5, and CPS-2? Or would it need an upgraded FPGA?

Yes on 1 and 1.5; “don’t hold your breath” for 2.

@@SmokeMonster Is that because the current hardware just isn't powerful enough, or because it would take an incredible amount of time and resources to program it?

Do you have a starter guide on how to order & build a Mister? I would love to get some more use out of the RGB on my BVM. The thought of streaming through HDMI at the same time as I'm playing in RGB is really exciting.

Hey Smokemonster, just wondering if your setup has a usb hub? I'm wondering if I need one when I start my build. I would like to use an external HD (for Mega CD games) and have a second player be able to play. That's all really. Is a USB hub necessary for that? Cheers!

I use a $4 generic OTG hub, but the usb board is nice of you can afford it I'm told.
