Please excuse the stretched aspect ratio, there was no good way for me to dial it in on my capture card unfortunately.
@mjy5 жыл бұрын
It's one of only a handful of arcade cores that I cannot get to display in the correct aspect ratio. Pac-Man looks perfect with no adjustments. Vertical scanlines look great. On Ms. Pac-Man though, I just cannot figure out if I'm doing something wrong of if there is something coded incorrectly in the core.

It was Midway in the US that approved the port not Namco. Namco was not happy about Ms Pac-Man and it took decades for them to accept that game and start putting it in collections.

That was great. Ms Pac-Man is one of my top arcade games and it was very cool to see some of these hacks as well as the different home ports. I don’t have a decent arcade stick for MiSTer yet because I’ve been looking for one that will feel right playing this core. Anyway I knew when I saw you were making this it was going to be a good one. Maybe your best yet. 👍

@@SmokeMonster how does it interpret and prioritize up-left for example on an 8 way? Not really sure how this works...
@zeikjt5 жыл бұрын
@@christophhelms4905 The menu had multiple options: horizontal, vertical, and none. I assume that means you either give one axis priority or you make two inputs cancel out to nothing. EDIT: That or none means that both inputs go through and if the game handles it poorly then so be it.

I've heard of a couple people running into this. Your TV might not be compatible with the core's audio. Try another set to confirm.

@@SmokeMonster thank you I will try that out. Another question I have is that there is no option on my MiSTer to define game pad button mapping per core only on the menu upon boot up. Was this feature changed in a recent update?

Does the Mister FPGA not allow save states? I guess if the answer is no it is the big difference between the alternative software emulation raspberry pi. Save states is so convenient with those hardcore retro games.
@SmokeMonster5 жыл бұрын
MiSTer allows save-states, but few cores have support yet. GBA save-states are coming soon and other cores will follow with time. Raspberry Pi has a 7 year head-start on MiSTer ;)

Great vid, looking forward to the 7800. To my knowledge it has no flash cart and no rgb mod. It is a left behind console that is an afterthought to most. Funny it could have had a laserdisc addon making picture perfect ports of Dragon's lair and Space Ace. Imagine also Night Trap on the 7800! But that wasn't meant to be and it never came out. FYI if the new 2600 port plays custard's revenge over HDMI she will get the bounty source for fixing the bug. I am now exited about what is to come.

Forgive me if this sounds rude but your Ms. Pac-Man history explanation is wrong. Ms. Pac-Man was licensed by Midway, not Namco. Namco gave their official blessings and were fond of the game, despite the fact that Midway wasn't contractually allowed to develop their own Pac-Man games (they were only allowed to manufacture what Namco developed). Super Pac-Man was Namco's official intended "sequel" to Pac-Man.
