"Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection is an old-school action platformer that's not too cruel to compromise, allowing you to fine tune its challenge level relative to your individual skill and tolerance for pain. Its seven-level story mode may be slightly short, but it packs in plenty of variety and unique challenges to navigate, and bolsters its replay value with the addition of the alternate Shadow levels that unlock after your first playthrough. If Capcom had added further flexibility to Arthur's movement and attacks - and maybe had some fun with the story - this would have been a truly sensational second coming, but regardless Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection is still a supremely spirited comeback."

I never got past the first level. Nintendo hard. It’s cool this got remixed though. I downloaded a game on Xbox cause it reminded me of this (Princess Madelyn). Getting frustrated like I’m 10 again 😂

I hear you, I actually jumped for joy the one time I passed the first level at the arcades. It wasn’t until I got the Genesis version of Ghouls n Ghosts that I got to fully enjoy all the levels

It was Super Ghost and Goblins on the SNES and Ghouls and Ghosts on the Genesis. The SNES one had better graphics, but it was shorter and plagued by slowdown. The Genesis Ghouls and Ghosts is the best overall version in my opinion.

The "stiff" controls are there for a reason. They are perfectly crafted around this highly tactical "acrobat-gameplay", in which you have to improvise alot. Although quite simple in its basics, there are no easy ways to survive in G&G. It never gets boring. If you want to feel like Superman, you have to play like one.

Dark souls is not hard though. It is extremely methodical and all about developing muscle memory which a lot of nes era games require as well. And enemies patterns and learning how to take advantage of them isn't that difficult. I used to die a lot in nes era games as well so if I can learn dark souls it must not be that hard

@@nayyarrashid4661 While no one can argue that a lot of retro games are extremely hard like Ninja Gaiden, Ghost Goblin, and Spelunker. Someone saying "Dark Souls isn't hard" comes across as provocative and elitist. The DkS games are still challenging, but they're also way more forgiving than those older games; that for the record have far less content overall so make that spike of difficulty for extra value. Not to mention the fact most are designed to take customers money in the arcades originally then just ported to home console.

Thing about the 80s is most games were brutally difficult. Most games were made for the arcade first. Coin guzzlers. They were designed to crush you. We just accepted it as normal in those days.

Fantastic Game. Haven't been able to put it down. Just make sure you get doppelganger to shred bosses and quickening for speedruns, and keep the dagger the entire time.

Games like this don't need more story... They tried that with games like Nights into Dreams, Mario Galaxy 1, and Sonic the Hedgehog, and they became far worse for it, or in Galaxy's case, just didn't need it. Less is more sometimes.

Thank you for addressing the stiff controls, this game shouldn't have stuck to the worst part of a game series from over 40 years ago and implement at least something to give the player a tiny bit of fairness since the player sprite is big, slow, and often at the mercy of enemies that move three times as fast.
