I lived in Deal, Kent as a kid and could see the channel from our house. When it was foggy, there used to be a fog horn out on the channel and the atmosphere was always creepy and scared me. After hearing about the Goodwin sands ghosts today, now I know why .

Hi, great presentation. I have an interest in "ghost stories" regarding spirits haunting old homes, etc. Had this not happened to me, I'd never would have grown up believing Souls or Spirits can be "Stuck". I lived in a small town in Pennsylvania USA. Town's Library dated to 1700's butt up to the crick. Here back in Days of Horses& Buggies Library Bldg had been part of a grist mill, thus location next to a crick... I was @ 9 or 10y My Dad drops me off after Mass to work on a history project due Monday. It's early, Library had just opened. I am one of 3 people busy at different tables...Plus the one Librarian. Half an hour later, I look up. I say aloud to the Librarian, I know I am a kid, but the Coffee you're brewing smells good. The two other men there chime in to say, "Yeah, She's right the brewing Coffee aroma smells good. Librarian says, you 3 follow me to back end of Bldg. I want to show you the room which had been the original kitchen. We enter room behind her. She says, "Look around," we saw a room painted off white, a small counter top, above 3 cabinets, a tiny Lunch table , 3 chairs. Me and the 2 Men, we are baffle. She asks us, what don't you see? Now our faces are stumped. The Librarian states, "Do you see a Coffee percolator brewing". We 3 look around room once more in surprise. Where's the aroma coming from?? Smiling, the Librarian tells us, it's our Ghost. He brews Coffee this exact time everyday. He likes to buzz the Desk at closing. No one is upstairs, he will buzz the desk using the 2nd floor "dial up" Bell Telephone. Phone had those in-house buttons. The button keeps lighting up and buzzing front desk till we leave. Ghost will move books off shelves and place them on top of 1 or more study tables. He will lock us in the upstairs storage room, when we go to leave the ghost waits till your hand is on the doorknob, then he unlocks the door. He sometimes might tap a shoulder, blink lights. He likes to go up and down the basement steps... The Ghost is friendly, he enjoys teasing us, good sense of Humor. Never is he nasty, frightening, or creepy. No one has figured out his name. You say he, not she, why? A couple of our Librarians closing up have reported when turning around outside to put the key in the keyhole, sometimes we see a portly man, 50'ish; he's dressed in clothes from the 1700's, hat and all, boots. Always he smiles and waves bye. He doesn't do this too often, however, that's why we know ghost is a He. Epilog: When Bldg was to be knocked down, the small local newspaper toured entire Library, documenting insider and outside, including the Basement, took pictures of every wall. ** Once pictures were developed, one wall of basement picked up a person dressed in Colonial style, hat and all, smiling. The building long gone, site is all grass next to the crick. To this day, some people Leave cups of coffee on the cement ledge by the crick where the old Cheltenham Library once stood. I Believe!!!

I remember reading about the Lady Lovibond many years ago, but unfortunately it is one of those ghost stories that is just too detailed to be true. I mean, if everybody on the ship was killed in the wreck, how would we know that the mate had killed the helmsman and then deliberately wrecked the ship on the Goodwin Sands?

The Great storm of 1703 saw the death of Henry Winstanley the architect of the first Eddystone Lighthouse who was swept away with the lighthouse on the 27th of November when he was visiting to make repairs to the structure. Neither Winstanley or the five other men in the lighthouse at the time were ever found.

@dungeonsanddobbers2683
@dungeonsanddobbers2683 Жыл бұрын
Yes, as a cadet training ship operating out of Falmouth...on the other side of the world from where every recorded sighting of the Kobenhaven was, and funnily enough the Cutty Sark is _not_ one of the ships to have recorded a sighting of Kobenhaven.
@TheWombat40

@TheWombat40
@TheWombat40 10 ай бұрын
Sorry to be brutal but I think the Cutty Sark story is BS. The crew of the Cutty Sark supposedly saw the ghost of the Danish ship Kobenhaven, which disappeared in 1928, many many years after the Cutty Sark had been "retired" from its long distance commercial use, so I do not understand how the crew could see the ghost of a ship which had yet to disappear, unless of course it was not the ghost of the Kobenhaven, but the actual ship itself, so it could not have suddenly "disappeared". The opening of the Suez Canal meant that the Cutty Sark, last of the tea clippers, spent more time carrying wool from Australia than tea from China (or anywhere else). However, I do enjoy your presentations, even though I have no belief in the paranormal, esp ghosts. Maybe you could do a show on the attempts by such people as Edison to build a radio receiver to listen to ghosts? Of course they never succeeded but it is still interesting. One last, as far as I am aware Cutty Sark translates into English as Short Shirt😂

I think she was still a cadet ship in the 1930s in Falmouth though. So I don’t know if that is linked to the story though. 👻🙏

@@ghostcasebook1266thank you for the reply, I watched your video on haunted Liverpool today, I found it very interesting, but as a skeptic I'm inclined to go "yeah, yeah". But I do love history and the historical information is most interesting. I live in the old post office in a one horse town in regional NSW Australia. It was built in 1875 (only 98 years after the first European settlement) and was sold off in 1975. It's not haunted (as far as I am aware), but I do think my father was more open to the possibility of ghosts after an encounter in one of the old gun emplacements that were built during WW2 along the coast and particularly around Sydney. I'd be happy to recount it to you because he told me the story back in the late 1960s, yes, I'm old(er) but I do remember it very well

@@ghostcasebook1266First I will give you some background. Here is a link to the Battle of Sunda Strait en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Sunda_Strait . Two cruisers, HMAS Perth and USS Houston were attempting to escape from Indonesian waters when they came upon a Japanese task force consisting of cruisers, destroyers and troop transports. Perth and Houston had been part of a mixed groups of British, Australian, American and Dutch vessels which had been pretty well thrashed trying to prevent the Japanese taking the Indonesian archipelago after the fall of Singapore. As the vessels were low on fuel and ammunition they were ordered to scatter and make their way south to Australia. As the 2 ships were effectively trapped they "came out swinging". But in the end Hec Waller (Perth) ran out of ammunition and charged the Japanese firing star shell. Gallant but futile. Your story of the naval officer killed on the Hood coming back to haunt a town in England jogged my memory of the story my father told me. We move on now to the 1950s. Dad was in the Australian Navy and he and some friends got some bottles of beer and decided to drink them at one of the gun emplacements, abandoned since the end of WW2. The pubs had closed (at 6:00pm in those days) and of course alcohol could not be consumed in the street, hence the decision to go to the gun emplacement. An apparition appeared to them and held a conversation with them, the apparition claimed to be a sailor from the Perth, who had been killed at Sunda Strait. Straight forward enough, but after the event some of dad's friends claimed he could not possibly have seen it. Why? Because dad claimed that the apparition was hearing khaki work dress and the others claimed he was wearing whites. All claimed to have seen something. It is just strange that dad saw different clothing to the others. OK, so they may well have been drunk, but why would they have all pretty much the same drunken hallucination? They all agreed this guy was from the Perth, it was just his appearance that was in contention. My father was an honest type, but he may well have been trying to put the "frighteners" on my brother and I. He could be a trickster at times but the story is somewhat elaborate to scare a couple of kids, so I remain somewhat skeptical

I hope you get a lot of subscribers was your channel is really so well researched. I love all things British Islas. It's the story of human history all in one land. The land has seen the rise of Western Civilization and now it is letting that great Civilization fall in to nothing. Your churches are empty along with your morals. Don't take offence as I'm seen my own great country the United States fall into the same retribute state. We have terrible crime because we don't are moral backbone is gone. People are full of drugs and laziness. The college teach the kids to hate their own country and anything that Western Civilization has accomplished. They will wake up to their own imprisonment of mind and body. They only follow personal passions and are unable to rationally think or use reasoning skills. The iphone is their god and believe everything and believe nothing.
