I understand what your saying, been so many people in and out of my life especially years ago, lots of crazy times and today I’m still in touch with very few, they are only memories and those memories can indeed haunt your dreams just like a ghost, not in bad ways but those memories are fleeting just like a ghost, interesting analogy.

I had one crazy night at the Rainbow back in the 80's, ended up in the canyon till dawn. Crazy how many survived that lifestyle!!

I’ve had dozens of amazing characters drift through my orbit over the years, who I think about sporadically; I miss every one of them, because I love them, and feel grateful to have known them, whether it was short-lived, or friendships. When I wonder about where they are now, it breaks my heart because of the mystery that more often than not, remains a mystery. I miss them.

I met Lemmy once at the 🌈. Every time I landed in LA I had to visit the 🌈. Most of the time Mario would have a card game going. On my first visit ever I was that tourist and I visited the Rainbow around lunch time it was a slow day so One of the bartenders took me on a guided tour of the 🌈 and we went upstairs and she told me all the stories. I already knew most of the stories and all the nostalgia. There were several times I ask the bartender “where’s Lemmy” and they would tell me the last time they saw him and that he was out on the road and when he would be back. I was thinking they sure know a lot about him.

In my band days I was several (make that LOTS of) divisions below you and we certainly didn't have the glamour of The Sunset Strip. However like you, there's names and faces from both my band and socialising/clubbing lives that I often wonder what happened to and where they went in life. I was inseparable with some of them for several years before without explanation we left each others orbits, while others were just faces who turned up weekly in the same pubs at the same time but over the years as the 80s and early 90s changed for the worse they disappeared one by one without me realising it. It's a melancholy start to the week because I'm thinking of some specific friends that have subsequently passed. For those left I can only hope things went well for them.

Different specific locations (my stomping grounds were in and around San Diego), but your stories bring back the feelings and memories of those times. It has to be by the grace of God that some of us survived and are able to recall those crazy days and nights. Nothing else makes sense IMHO

Yeah... Ican think of a dozen "ghost stories" about people and places in NYC 40 years ago when there was a club, proper venue of gallery on every block. Now adays, NYC is going through a live music (really a creativity) drought. The cost of living here, especially rent, has driven the "creatives" out of the city. You can no longer pick up a PT job that pays the bills while performing or creating like you could back in the '70s or '80s. All the venues have closed. All the slightly loopy people which made the town great are gone. The city usually "refreshes" every generation, say 25 years. However... De-centralization gives the KZbin people a chance, but comparitively, there is no local "scene" for kids to flock-to in order to build generational life experiences anymore. This time around.... Its gonna be a lot harder to "re-set" the city without the creative types and the people who take financial risks on their work. The thrill is gone, baby... the thrill is gone.

It happened just as I told it……we only had to drive a couple blocks and two in passenger seat and one draped across my lap. We were all pretty skinny then.
