the more the choir comes to the front the more magical it becomes.

As far as I'm concerned, he was the greatest Italian composer of the 20th century. Music from another dimension.

Clearly not recognised in his own lifetime, perhaps he was so ahead that it is only now that people are catching up with him. This sounds incredibly contemporary. Utterly amazing music!

Deeply moving. What strength of vision! Love the bass line in the opening bars. Like a subterranean counterpart to Ligeti's big blue yonder. Ligeti is the firmament whereas Scelsi is magma.

It is as beautiful as the retractability of the talons of rapacious birds; or as the uncertainty of muscular movements in wounds of the soft tissues of the posterior cervical region!

This music has such an incredible un-intentional darkness to it. Amazing.

The music is about a society that destroyed itself for religious reasons. I think the darkness is entirely intentional.

@@sneakyimp Yes, it concerns the downfall of an Aztec city. I got to know Scelsi's music through a friend of mine who used to play this piece at max volume over his very expensive man high speakers. It felt like the world was indeed ending.

A rather late reply: This is the recording by Jürg Wyttenbach with the Polish radio orchestra of Krakow.
@voiceover2191 Жыл бұрын
@@mrtchaikovsky Yeah, I think Wyttenbach recorded all the orchestral works of Scelsi. I once, as a member of a choir, performed Konx-Om-Pax with him directing, quite the experience.
