@AquaticPorrada8 ай бұрын
You can't pull to avoid a takedown sequence. If a guy has your leg or a rear body lock, etc. and you go to bottom it counts as two points.
@timothycarey38838 ай бұрын
So it discourages trying to counter takedowns with submissions, smart rule.@@AquaticPorrada
@AquaticPorrada8 ай бұрын
No, it prevents crappy guard pulls as a way to avoid points for takedowns. The rules note that if you take someone down and they have the threat of a submission points are not awarded for the takedown until the submission is cleared. So if you soot a double and get caught in a guillotine, you do not get points for the takedown until you clear your head. @@timothycarey3883

points don't make matches boring. lots of sub only fights are snooze fests as well
@TheDanielmeeks8 ай бұрын
@@ezr.a they absolutely can. There an automatic Risk-Reward calculation that takes place in points only compared to sub only. In ADCC you can clearly see how tactics change when points are in effect vs when they aren't. More risk are taken without points then with points.
@ezr.a8 ай бұрын
@@TheDanielmeeks that is true, i'm not saying that points matches are never boring, they definitely often are. I think that people argue so much over points vs sub only and gi vs nogi for what is more entertaining, when in reality, all rulesets and clothing styles have the same amount of boring matches. its more about the athletes participating.
@TheDanielmeeks8 ай бұрын
@@ezr.a Yes that's 100% the case. The problem for the most part are the athletes. Negative grip fighting, shit wrestling. However, the worst incentive of a points rule set is stalling. Adding points to the end of a match might be more enticing to fight even harder for 1 extra point. If you havent watched the quarterns final match of AIGA where team modolfo's Fabricio Andrey went against Universal Fighters Ibragimov. Its an ADCC style event thats submission only but a transition to points twords the end. It was a tie breaker and first person to get points would win within the time limit. Is was action packed. Fighters need to be incentivized in the best way to perform. Giancarlo doesn't have boring matches typically and here it was obvious he was to worried about not having points get wracked on him then going in for the attack.
