looks great. and brings back memories. used to cut laps around the trunk of a large swamp gum growing in the paddock behind my parents house as training as a kid over 25 years ago in victoria, Australia. not tall, but fatter and more variety. That tree had the works- a 15 move v6 slab to a mantle into a fork between two big branches, and an overhanging crack-system where it had rotted out one side, merging up into a v5 power sequence. And a circuit. Its still there, but I haven't touched it in a while.

@alphazuluz9 жыл бұрын
+Giancarlo Zucca On shorter trees, you throw the rope up with a thin, slick line and a small weight. Then, you use the small line to pull up your climbing rope. On taller trees, people use a bow and arrow with a line or fishing line attached, or a slingshot shooting a fishing weight attached to fishing line. Either way, once you have the throw line up, you pull up the climbing rope.

Coastal redwoods are not generally watered by rain. Fog rolls in from the sea, condenses and drips to their roots. It is no surprise that these trees would not be stressed by drought. I'm curious what their hypothesis is, and the data that turns up later in the season

they shimmy up with an ascender if you saw him climbing just a rope and moving his rig up and then pushing up thats what they were doing getting to the top to take their samples and then they probably set a top rope off a branch or something
@MotoAtheist8 жыл бұрын
They tie a fishing line to an arrow and shoot it over a branch in the lower part of the crown. They tie a nylon cord on to that and pull it all the way through. Then, they tie the final main rope to the cord and pull it over the branch. They use ascenders to climb the main rope.
@patricksanders8588 жыл бұрын
they use a small crossbow to shoot a small line over a low branch, run up a heavier rope, climb that rope to the lower (50+ yards!) branch and repeat until you can reach the crown.
