GIANT Baits for MASSIVE Fish...

Max Mckinley from maxed out fishing charters invited Adam Mellusi from Movin weight fishing, Justin Menendez and I out to fish for Giant Goliath grouper. These fish aka jewfish are massive and can be over 800lbs!! They were almost fished to extinction back in the day, but have made an incredible comeback. We caught multiple huge grouper on the handline which consisted of anchor rope, chain, leader and a hook. We fished giant baits like whole kingfish, spanish mackerel and jacks.

Just asking for further information Ik most countries in the Caribbean don’t eat the really big goliath groupers because they say their usually poisonous is this true and are they safe to eat? I got poisoned from barracuda before it was a monster btw huge but did not go down well was sick for weeks and lost loads of weight.

LOVE the drone footage, its always the same....long angle down the side of the boat to inflate the size for a thumbnail. But with that drone I personally got a real feeling how of massive those big boys really are and I thought that was MUCH cooler.

This also is a reminder that even though they were once almost fished and harvested to extinction, they most definitely need to be conserved tightly as they can easily decimate a fish population on their own. Hopefully as they continue to monitor their population, they may open a selected tagged season on them, when appropriate.

@@IrishDocmakes It doesn't work that way. They help the reef thrive. It's the same as wolves. They aren't preying on the healthy. Mainly the sick and injured. Also.
