In the U.S., we have Almond Joy (a whole almond on top of the coconut, under the chocolate layer) and Mounds bars (which seem just like a Bounty). In the 80s/90s they were often advertised on TV together with their catchy jingle, 🎵 "Sometimes you feel like a nut - Sometimes you don't!" 🎵 Anyone else remember that one? LOL!

Almond Joy is made with milk chocolate, and Mounds is made with dark chocolate. I MUCH prefer Mounds to Almond Joy, though if they came up with a crushed almond Almond Joy, I might like that better. They still run the sometimes you feel like a nut commercials where I am.

I made Mounds Bars during the holiday season and I used 4 ingredients... 1 chocolate,2 coconut, 3 a hint of sea salt, 4 condensed milk. They were amazing. I'm enjoying watching your videos. Have a blessed day

Hi Barry, Indian here. If you use fresh coconuts instead of desiccated, it will hold much better and not crumble into coconut powder the way this did when you cut it. You must basically make a South Indian style coconut burfi (without any raisins etc) and coat it in chocolate. Hope you try!

The Mounds chocolate bar is coconut covered in dark chocolate and the Almond Joy is coconut with whole almonds on top covered in milk chocolate. We do also have Bounty bars here in the U.S., they're usually found in the international sections of larger supermarkets.

If you don't have a big enough bowl, you should just use a giant stock pot. I'm sure you have one of those, and they are much bigger usually around 12-16 quarts.

In Brazil we don't have those, but we have Prestígio ("prestige", in English) and it is the same and it also has a dark chocolate version which I prefer. I have tasted Almond Joy and Mounds too.

Barry can i suggest for your giant mixtures you invest in a dedicated washing up bowl to use as a mixing bowl? My mum has one she uses (and has done for over 35 years) to do the mixing for her christmas pud and mince meat for the mince pies. Its so much easier!

You basically have a cross-breeding of an Almond Joy and Mounds. Mounds are coconut with dark chocolate and Almond Joy is milk chocolate with coconut and an almond! It looks so good!

You could get a pretty sturdy base if you liked a cake pan with the bars of chocolate, set them in a warm oven just lin enough to start to lose shape, and then cool in the fridge. It would be the thickness of the original bar, and fairly durable.
