When I was growing up, my family was poor, and I mean dirt poor, like “we ate berries out of the woods because we were starving” poor. My family didn’t do holiday or birthday gifts (my mum told me birthdays were an American thing and British people didn’t celebrate them) and any toys we DID have were thrifted, second hand or hand made. This is all to say I’m 38 years old now, and if/when I see an item I wanted as a child but we couldn’t afford, I buy it. There’s nothing wrong with liking things from your youth in middle age, especially if that’s connected to trauma or neglect.

I absolutely 100% agree and I'm sorry to hear that you guys struggled so much growing up I feel a connection to you as I also had a pretty relatable childhood and lived in shelters until I was 14 years old. I did not have to eat berries from the woods luckily so I can't relate there but I could only depend on whatever the shelter provided as food and donations so I have a very similar reason for collecting the things that I do now. It's all stuff I wish I had when I was younger.

Do I have kids? No. Do I buy toys? No. I just come here because chaotic Jen is what I love. I can just sit here hearing you talk about whatever you fancy so don't worry about posting non review stuff because I'm sure there are other people like me XD. I used to collect plushies when I was in Japan many many years ago, specially Stitch, Pokemon and Cinnamonroll. Now that I'm living back in Brazil I don't get them anymore, those sold here are not of the same quality and I can't buy them anyway. BUT I have a really fuzzy, fluffy cat now which I couldn't have while in Japan (no pets allowed by the rent apartments).

I love bubble wrap. I actually have a huge roll of it in my wardrobe. I also love plushies of all kinds. I am currently snuggling with my Build A Bear named Rose. She has red fur and she is covered in red roses made from the same net material used on dolls’ tutus. She has chocolate brown button eyes and a glittery gold mouth and nose. I absolutely love her!

It's sweet how you and your Nana can bond over Care Bears. I didn't realize there were such unique looking ones, like that blue and gold Bedtime. I actually moved abroad to Canada back in 2018 specifically to work as an animator on Care Bears: Unlock the Magic, then worked for a few more years on a few different shows before moving back home this fall. As far as the modern style bears I only have the 5-pack rainbow gradient figurines my mom sent me one Christmas. Years ago I had mastered the mall claw machines and won a number of smaller classic style bears. Tenderheart is the only one left of them that I haven't donated over time, and I have an even older Grumpy and Cheer with velcro hands so they can hug. I'm kind of mad at myself for not noticing the True North bear before I left Canada, but I did get a Roots Barbie.

Oh my goodness I am oh so jealous of your Care Bear connection that's amazing. I have two different velcro hugging bear types but I can't recall off the top of my head if it's the Grumpy Bear when I don't think so. The True North Bear does come and go so take a look on the Toys r Us or Walmart website if you're hoping to get your hands on one. I definitely do have one in box I'm hoping to keep it forever but if for some reason I find someone who really needs that one and has one on my list I'd be willing to trade. As for the roots Canada Barbie doll I went into Roots the other day and I saw the doll there I really like it but the fact that she's just so stiff I feel like it would have been so much nicer if we had a made to move body for the price like it just makes sense to me I guess I could always re-head her but it's not something I'm eager to do. I don't want to spend almost $100 just to toss a body essentially although I wouldn't I would just re-head it and then donate but you know what I mean. Also it really bothered me that it looks like she has no neck I know it's just cuz of her bulky sweater but I couldn't get over it and I was just laughing at the store. Also also last complaint I swear when I was in there they didn't have any sticker prices or labels or even signage to let you know how much the dog cost and I was there for like 8 minutes just trying to figure it out and no one offered to come over and say hey is there anything you're needing help with and for some reason that really really bothered me because I mean it's customer service. I ended up leaving the store and Googling The Roots Canada website to find the price it just annoyed me so much so yeah I made the choice to not buy her. Oh well it is what it is LOL now I've just got more space for Care Bears!

I clicked because Care Bears, and then ignored everything to stare at the Popples every time they're in-frame. It's like Eureka's Castle for me, where any time I mentioned them to people growing up or as an adult, no one had heard of them. Also I am not elderly and I talk to my stuffed animals. >.> I only had one Care Bear growing up. We got a Cheer Bear at a flea market when I was about 8. I wanted a couple of them but was only allowed to pick one. There have been a couple sitting in my Amazon cart for the last two months because I had a sudden desire to have one as an adult (and couldn't choose, and now mom can't tell me no, lol).

I 1000% support this I hope you get all the Care Bears that you love eventually and get to hug them and talk to them I do it all the time I don't even care. I do have a very very large share bear on my couch too and sometimes I have to struggle with Harvey to get a hold of the bear because he's claimed it. Oh my goodness I love Cave Club I only need one there is one that I'm missing and I missed out on her and I'm super duper bummed and I can't remember her name right now but she is adorable and she has glasses and I'm super sad that I don't have her but I'm very very happy to know that somebody else collects Cave Club. I actually have so many cave Club dolls that I've started creating my own Customs I love them but funny enough I've taken the cave portion out of the custom and turned them into just cute characters.

This video was enjoyable in so many ways. Having ADHD I totally get the chaos that comes with reorganzing a collection. I seriously need to redo my toy collection, especially my My Little Ponies. I agree with you on your thoughts on collecting toys as adults. As a kid my family didn't have a lot of money so some of the things I would have really liked were out of reach. As a grown up now, I have some of the 80s things that I couldn't have as a kiddo like Crystal Barbie and Peaches and Cream Barbie. If we're not hurting anyone and our collecting isn't in the way of paying bills etc, there's nothing wrong with it. Like my name I picked for KZbin, it's the little things in life that can make you smile. That can be some cute little toy and that can also be having a moment seeing your Nanna smile. Oh that's wonderful I'm so happy to hear that. These shelves were super simple to make we just bought painted white boards from the hardware store and brackets to hold them up. It's actually a really great idea and super affordable in comparison to buying shelves from say an Ikea or something because they consider that a finished product and charge more although Ikea is pretty affordable so scratch that you know what I mean though. My number one suggestion would be to wherever you are planning to put a shelf take the items that you hope to place on those shelves to make sure you have enough room. 😅🤣

I collect Monster High dolls (I have over 500 in my collection), Ever After High dolls, Mini Brands Toys and Disney. I completed my Capsule Chix collection (minus the super rare ones) and I still have 98% of my 80's-90's Polly Pockets. When I get the chance, I look for the dolls to complete the compact sets again.

Wheree did you find the treat hearts? (I know they're not the 80's but that's one I'm missing from my care bear collections) Also that True North Bear is awesommeee! I also love the little bin idea for the beanie care bears! Also that bed time bear that looks like it's a space bear is so pretttyyy. I need to pick up the 80's funshine, baby tugs and baby hugs plush as those are the only three us plush I'm missing. If I could get the UK 80's loyal heart dog that's like a dream goal but I highly doubt that'll ever happen, it'd also be nice to get the other uk bears from the 80's. I don't have any of the newer basic fun stuff I've thought about picking up the sea friend bear - I know that originally was a UK exclusive in the 80's/90's. I also recently got a hugs and tugs lamp but it's missing the lampshade, I need to make one because I doubt I'll find an original lamp shade. As far as favorite bears - Tenderheart and Grumpy bear. Favorite care bear cousins are proud heart cat and treat heart pig.

I went through a stage of collecting LOL dolls before they got too expensive. I kept one LOL boy from the ones that had actual hair, idk his name. I've collected plushes of all sorts since i was a little girl and have quite a few pokemon build a bears, although i may be selling some soon as I'm not sure if i want to hold on to them all

Okay see this is exactly why I put things on display because it starts a conversation I love it and I'm happy to let you know what these dolls are. So to answer the first question the two little dolls with the chubby cheeks those are Babyface Galoob dolls, look him up and you will fall in love they're absolutely adorable I actually have another one in my dining room which I forgot to add to my collection downstairs and I'm definitely on the hunt for more I desperately want to get one of the babies with a darker skin complexion as well because it's important to have a variety of skin tones for sure and also it's important for me to have all the baby face Galoob dolls I can find of course 🤣 Ask for the chubby fabric characters under the Care Bear shelf I believe you have your eye on some Popples there😊 they are super cute made up characters kind of like a cross between a very colorful teddy bear and some kind of marsupial because they have a big old pouch in their belly, but realistically you are meant to flip the popple inside of the pouch and it turns into a sort of ball with just its tail sticking out they're very very cute these came out in the '80s they did have a reboot of the Popple franchise back in the 2010s but it didn't do so well.

I had all the 80s US care bears at one point. I still have the small ones and a few larger like hugs and tugs but I really didn't have room for all of them and had to get rid of them 😔 bedtime bear is my favorite. I have the one i carried around when I was 2 years old I can get the sea friend bear sent to me and would definitely be willing to trade for a bedtime bear for my collection. I'm trying to build up my CB collection again. I can't seem to find the originals much except on ebay unfortunately.

We love you because you're you. ❤ I just couldn't ever get into Care Bears growing up. But when I was about 19 I discovered Braveheart the lion character which sorta turned me onto them. (Huge cat fanatic, it was my childhood autistic obsession.)
