Being new to road cycling, I give you my assessment of the Giant Defy Composite 2, the 2014 model. This is my first road bike, I don't have much to compare to except for an old Motobécane I've been on. Please ask any questions you can think of, and I will try to get back to you.

I've had this computer for years but still can't get altitude, temperature, or gradient to work. Any tips?

You are correct. As I learned more about the bike, realized the same. Thanks!

I would take off the reflectors. I heard they will ruin the spoke in time due to the weight.

+cbr9927 But if he were to be in the little ring he'd be cross-chained in the opposite direction (small, small) Or he would have to be over geared.

How's your pants? I was also thinking of buying a road bike but I am concerned about the chain having no chain guard.
@ReviewOutdoorGear
@ReviewOutdoorGear 9 жыл бұрын
Jemuel You can just roll up the pant leg once or twice, or you can put a rubber band around it to keep it from the chain.

Hi, nice review. I see that you have size M. Have you measured the weight of the bike, I mean factory weight - without the pedals, seat bag weather bottles?
@ReviewOutdoorGear
@ReviewOutdoorGear 10 жыл бұрын
Hi! Actually I have the size M-L (medium large), and I didn't weight it accurately before the pedals and cyclocomputer parts were installed. So I just weighed it with those components and subtracted the pedal weight as listed on box, and the weight comes to be at about 19.5 lbs. Oh, and another difference now is that the front tire is a continental gatorskin instead of the Giant PR-3. Hope that helps.

+Kay Reezy Everyone I see riding compacts is constantly on the big ring and the bigger cogs on the back. But if you ever say something to them about it, they look at you as though you're a nutcase.

I can tell this is your first Road Bike...You should talk more about the Specs of the bike: -Number of teeth on the rear cassette...Min - Max (It's important b/c it determines how well the bike can climb) -Number of teeth on the crankset -weight of the bike -Types of pedals you can buy (commuter/clipless, types of clip less pedals, etc.) -There are 5 types of Giant Defy bikes (not 3) - Talk about the difference between other Shimano components (i.e. - Claris, Tiagra, 105, Dura Ace, etc.) Overall: Great Review/Explanation on the computer. Not really a good review on the bike.

Why use carbon bike for your first road bike? if you crash (I don't wish that upon anyone, but that's just part of the sport) aluminum is much safer than carbon, I was on my Scott S50 for 3 years before I switched to the carbon tarmac
