Rockhounding in that terrain is no joke. Kris has been such a mentor to many of us! He knows that terrain well and just has a good time.

It was nice meeting up with you and Sara again. Excellent day to be in the Olympics and just to look at big rocks. I did go back with Jeff and Forrest and we collected that jasper I pulled out of the stream. Hard to believe I could barely move it and it wasn't a big jasper.

Man those things are huge! We were cutting some big jasperized agatized stromatolites today and… it may be time for a new blade and we may have to figure out how to slow the feed rate. Our jasper was tiny compared with the one Kris found. Too big 🤷🏻‍♂️😆 I didn’t feel like spending 10 hours. Hope Old Guy makes some more videos but I think he said he’s done a while back

Nice to see you guys getting the Olympic experience! Kris is the best guide in the area! The seam that green jasper came from is way up river, up several tributaries, at the very top of my claim. It is the same stuff as the slabs and cab I sent you before. Beautiful stuff! Sorry I was busy that day, I could have taken you to the claim and shown you the huge red plume agates I'm mining. Keep on digging!

Thank you for these videos! I may be binge watching this weekend. Riffe Lake in Morton, Western WA is a great place to rockhound, petrified wood etc. I am far from a geologist, but I do recommend Riffe in the late Fall-Winter while the water is down, a lot of treasures to be found!

Somewhere way up close to the headwaters of Germany creek is a pice of red jasper the is almost as big as this massive one . Pop and I could not get it out of the canyon so we left it . This was 30 years ago so I imagine mother nature reclaimed it into the creek bed

The forests on the Olympic peninsula are so freaking thick you could see only a few yards away. I can see why people have claimed to see Bigfoot or other creatures. Dude those are some huge beautiful jaspers. You almost need a hand truck or wagon if you can roll it towards a trail.

What was the green rock called? I find a lot of it here in CA. Is it just a green jasper? I think it is related to serpentine, but much harder. I can’t scratch it with my knife. It has some translucency. Some people call it chert. But chert is opaque.
@CurrentlyRockhounding
@CurrentlyRockhounding Жыл бұрын
The green rock here was just green jasper. There's also lots of other green rocks that do look pretty similar.
