Giant Mantis Shrimp VS Invasive Red Lobster | Catch & Feed

This is my version of a catch and cook LOL.
Today I went down to Malibu Creek, California, to catch some invasive lobsters or crayfish (AKA crawfish or crawdads). We ended up getting a meal or two for the Mantis.My Peacock Mantis Shrimp is beautiful and packs a Punch. Watch till the end to see extended video of my Mantis Shrimp hunting.

Came here from your Reddit post, keep doing bits my guy. Maybe set up an large tub pond type thing in your garden you can collect lots of invasive crustaceans in, to have a stock of live food for the mantis shrimp and to try and diminish invasive species populations locally

Nick SBF just put them in bags/tubs and bring them home and try breed them maybe ? But I guess you don’t want to increase invasive populations. You should try putting him in a larger tank or with more tunnels etc maybe and adding a tank mate that he can hunt. You could set up your camera etc on a spot you know he pounces and get some natural hunting up behaviour :)

I'm late but if your curious still, mantis shrimp are cool with anything bigger then small fish tank, they need rocks caves and small private areas. Keep ammonia levels zero, and filter the water heavily. And live food is a must. With acrylic and not glass because they easily punch through it if they're bored

Mantis Shrimp lifespan in an aquarium varies because they require consistent care. In good conditions up to 10 years, but I think 3-5 years is average
