For anyone unfamiliar the story and history behind Graham Crackers is pretty darn cool and just a little whackadoo and later became a pretty historical case of WOW THAT'S PETTY. They were invented by Reverend Sylvester Graham who was a radical in terms of healthy eating even having a cult following called Grahamites. He preached against the typical sins foremost bring fornication but second in line was unhealthy eating and he had major disdain for commercially made white bread which to be fair was full of chalk and clay at this time. He believed anything with pleasurable flavor basically was a gateway to sexual urges and preached against consuming meat, white flour, chemicals, sugar and spices along with tobacco, alcohol, coffee and tea. He invented the Graham cracker around 1830 and it was a flavorless hard biscuit full of fiber and what he felt was dense nutrition but was also supposed to help people refrain from masterbation, along with a hard mattress, loose fitting clothes and lots of cold showers and walks. There was an uprising against him from bakers and butchers even his Grahamites turned against him pouring lime on him from the top of a building. He died at the age of 57 following an opium enema. The flavorless biscuits were all but forgotten until a company that had been deeply and negatively impacted due to Grahams preachings, the (Na)tional (Bis)cuit (Co)company now known as Nabisco, used the original recipe around the turn of the 20'th century and added the very things Sylvester Graham hated, white flour, sugar and trans fats. Rather than changing the name they did a very deep and petty hat tip calling these now delightful sweet treats Graham Crackers after their original inventor, the proverbial flipping of the bird to a man long dead.
@SombreroPharoah2 жыл бұрын
So white bread is bad. But getting smashed boofing opium is A-OK? I love some logic. He and Kellogs wouldve got on well though. Between the two, corn flakes and gram Crackers, that's going to be one celibate breakfast table.

I make s’mores in the oven all the time. I cover the tray with graham crackers, top with chocolate and then each with a marshmallow. Then i put that under the broiler until the top of the marshmallow is brown and then quickly top each with the second cracker smashing them down. I can make at least 20 at a time this way. I do put the chocolate in the freezer before hand so it starts out cold.. this way it still melts but not too much

"GRAMM" crackers are what I've heard in the lower 48 United States. Family always calls them "Grey-ham" crackers, and growing up in Alaska they were kinda more "Greymm"
@Skorpeonismyrealname2 жыл бұрын
Also, we'd used to do "s'more casserole" by simply squaring up a tin's full of crackers, and layer everything up before baking for about 5-10ish minutes so everything melts together. Then you let it rest for about another 5-10ish minutes for the marshmallows to firm back up just enough so you get a "pizza cheese pull" as you take them out.

Me right after the marshmallow mess: maybe could've been easier to put the marshmallows directly on top of the chocolate and cracker bottom, then toast them, then put the top on the toasted layer after, because really as long as they're melted and toasted well at least on one side, the whole marshmallow will be gooey haha. BUT it wouldn't be a fun video without a lil mess 💌 wish I could try some!
