The area where the video was created is called Shore Acres State Park in Oregon. It is located about 12 miles west of Coos Bay, Oregon. Unfortunately, the wave explosion event featured in the video, only happens about 5 or 6 times a year! It takes a surf of 18' or greater to get the jaw dropping wave explosions. Hope this info helps!

When observing those waves, always make sure to be standing on a dry stop, because if there's puddles on the ground, it means that the spraying from the waves can reach where you are standing and you never know how strong it can be.

How often does this occur, and is there any predicting when?
@Seracdog3 жыл бұрын
A lot of people think that this type of event only occurs during a storm which is often not the case. If you check out any of my other videos of the area you will note a heck of a lot of blue sky! So how does one know when an event is coming? I use a website called surf-forecast.com. Forecasts for wave activity for areas all around the world are shown. It is excellent! So, for Shore Acres, I check Oregon South and Bastendorff Beach. Generally, it takes waves in excess of 18' to generate the spectacular explosions with a period between waves of greater than 15 seconds. Lastly, how often does it occur... whenever Mother Nature feels like showing off! Sometimes several times a week but often just once a month or nothing at all! She can be a bit fickle at times...

You are absolutely right the waves at Nazare (not Nazere, as you spell it) are much larger than the waves at Shore Acres.
