This was a masterpiece video in its own. I felt like I was watching an artists interlude to a next project rather than a comparison video

I love both guitars. The explorer is a onstage guitar. I just remember having one at home and never endingly knocking it into everything. The sg feels right for me, it's amazing even though the body is thin it still resonates like a mother.

I also have both guitars, and agree.

Love this video; beautiful guitars! I feel like these guitars would complement each other in a mix if they were overlayed, I feel like the explorer handles the rhythm well and is more present and can be heard better in the mix then the sg, while the sg has more clarity with the quick licks and runs. However when you hit the solo with that explorer there was definitely some magic happening! Rock on man 🤘🏼

Just look at Skynyrd: Allen Collins with the Explorer & Gary Rossington with the SG, complimented each other so well🤟

Loved the video. Great playing and great tone. I love both guitars. I've had an Explorer for years and is my favorite guitar, but would like to add an SG to my collection sometime.

Hey good stuff! Loved the video! I feel that when you went to the JCM 800 2203x, the Explorer has just a little bit more "Growl and Snarl" than the SG. So the Explorer does it for me. Not to take anything away from SG, a darn good guitar. I have the '61 SG Standard Reissue, and I love it. But I will definitely be going to the store and trying these. Problem is they have one or the other but not both. Thank you for posting this, Ryan.

For couch playing and a tad of in your apartment standing up playing , it's the SG you want. The V and Explorer will hit stuff around the house and get dinged, the Les Paul is to heavy and to thick. You want something you can pick off the rack with 1 hand that's small, slim, and compact.

Both sound great, but I feel like the SG would cut through a mix better.

I put a set of Gibson Vintage Custom Bucker (unpotted) in my SG with oil/paper caps and 550K pots. It roars.

the explorer definitely had more low end than the SG. Great comparison!

Ik they’re huge metal guitars but the explorer in a southern rock situation is frickin awesome and I feel like SG is a great slide guitar

Great video! Love the Explorer through the ENGL!! I think the SG has the 498R and T, not 490.
@Crypticmaskguitar2 жыл бұрын
I know that SG Standards used to have the 490 and 498 pickups as my 2011 has them. But they are currently offered with the 490R/T combo. Glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers -Ryan

the difference in sound comes only from the pickups and maybe a little due to the difference in weight.. 🤔
