Back to comment that after 10 months of saving, I now am the EXTREMELY happy owner of the LTD BB600 Baritone. It is amazing. Down tuning is a breeze and tension is nice and tight. Though admittedly I am only a quarter step down right now. The JB/59 does exactly what they are known for. I would like to see some slightly hotter pickups though. But that is simply because my other LTD is running EMG'S. The Piezo is trippy. It doesn't replace an acoustic guitar, but comes eerily close. It's crazy to break out my baritone, plug into the Piezo, and jam out some classical music. The versatility this guitar is through the roof. Depending on my mood, any one of my guitars quickly becomes my favorite, but this baritone is special every time I pick it up. I recommend getting one to own not just to demo. Demo'ing it will only make you miss it when it's gone.

I want this guitar, but do you have access to all the pick ups if you’re only plugging in one guitar cord? Also, I’ll be playing in drop a.# Which kind of sounds like what you’re playing in . What string gauge do you use for that tuning? I need no Fret buzz whether or not I’m playing clean or distorted

Insanity is when you do the same thing over and over and expect different results. The CEO of Gibson has to go. Otherwise, he'll just continue to steer a sinking ship. Must be nice keeping his job while employees lose theirs.
@agufish

My point was during the transition, he is likely the best man at the helm. He knows which aspects of the company are profitable, and which are not as such. During the restructure, he knows the current company better than anyone so is probably most qualified to lead the company so there is as little disruption as possible. Post-restructure... well that's a different conversation

Agufish I wasn't so much disagreeing with your thought on it, as much as just stating that I don't think the guy responsible for why hard working employees lost their job should be able to keep his. It reminds me too much of what happened to Apple in the mid 90s.

I was looking at the BB600 over the weekend, wondering if it's something you'd check out. Very interested in that one. Damn close to a dream guitar for me. Also, been subbed for about a year or so. Love the content. You are the reason I got a zombie and love it for what I play. Been loving the broader style of playing lately as well as the usual kick ass riffs. And semi-hollow guitars in general are awesome. Very versatile. I want to try them all. Another reason I'm curious how that piezo sounds by comparison. Anyway, keep up the awesome vids man!

What happened to Gibson,was long overdue.For the last decades,they're just exploiting their prestigious name and the legacy,that Ted McCarty build in the 50's/60's.(Ironically,McCarty later joined PRS and helped them become the boutique-brand,they're today) Their quality control is a total joke,their guitars comically overpriced(over 3,500 Euros for a L/P Custom,which had a Richlite fretboard,when even the cheap replicas from far east have ebony/rosewood boards and I can custombuild me a guitar for less) and they don't give a shit about adressing some of the design flaws,which are known for decades,like putting a freaking volute joint,on the necks,to prevent the ''headstock snapping''-phenomenon. On top of that,their CEO and rest of the board,are total hacks.The guy wanted to turn Gibson into a ''lifestyle brand'' and was pushing these dumb robot-tuners,like crazy.Not to mention,the interviews,where he was blaming music stores for dropping sales.As a contrast,check out some interviews with Paul Reed Smith,Sterling Ball or Jeff Kiesel and you get the idea,why their companies are doing good.
@NDEEZMiata

Agreed. Not to mention, offering about 100 different iterations of a Les Paul is an awful business plan. It's great as a consumer as it's nearly like buying a custom guitar, you can pick pretty much any spec you want. For a business though, you're going to end up with a lot of unsold guitars. 1k Korean guitar like a Schecter or ESP LTD vs a 1k Gibson, it's just not even close. Even if the quality was equal between the two (which it isn't in my experience), you still will get way more for your money hardware wise with those two brands over Gibson.... Apples to tomatoes, but the ESP LTD 7 string I bought was 1300 and came with Fishman pickups, locking tuners, ebony fretboard, and an evertune bridge. 1300 in a Gibson will likely get you Gibson brand tuners (not necessarily bad), Gibson pick ups (not necessarily bad) etc... I don't wish failure on brands, it's not something to look forward to....lot of people will be out of jobs. However from what I've heard from music shop employees...Gibson is not pleasant to deal with. So at that point....they just had it coming. Making mistakes is normal, but the key is to own your mistakes and find ways to improve. Just be humble. Gibson seemed to be on the other side of the fence, deny that you've made errors and point the finger at everyone but themselves. That's always a recipe for disaster.
@greekfreak1980
@greekfreak1980 6 жыл бұрын
Nah,nobody has an issue with a volute,because literally every company that makes guitars is putting them on,since the 70's.It works,it's cheap,it doesn't affect playabillity or the tone of the guitar. What really baffles me though,is that Epiphone makes some amazing guitars,in their high-end segment,like the Epi L/P Pro Series or the various sign.models,like the R.Faulkner Flying V. That thing has a classic look and lots of great features. And then compare it to that ''Modern Flying-V''.That thing looks like shit,has no features to write home about and costs over 4,000 USD, WTF?!
@raserx63

WRONG. This bankruptcy has nothing to do guitars but other interests that Gibson tried to branch into and failed. As far as being “comically overpriced” , ....What are you talking about? There are Gibson models starting at a few hundred bucks. Sure , the specialty models , custom shop etc.. are expensive , but PRS and Fender have that as well.

Its best for all guitarists that Gibson does not go out of business. Gibson and other guitar makers keep the competition between the larger companies resulting in better made guitars for all of us guitarists to enjoy. I do believe they need to listen to the consumer much more than they have been. Give your customers what they want. We are willing to throw our money at you!

50s and 60s gibson will always go up because they’re that good. Only Gibson could make a guitar that’s worth over $200k without being connected to a famous musician. Even their pre war acoustics sell for the same as a pre war Martin. If you compared vintage gibson to a vintage fender of the same year, Gibson is always double or triple the price. They need to go back to whatever they were doing from 1899-1969.

The Zach Myers guitar is a great step into semi hollow guitars. It's going to be a thinner and more open tone. Expect feedback, its fun to use once you get used to it. If you want to hear some great semi hollow and hollow body players, check out Johnny A, the jazz/blues guy and check out Geordie from Killing Joke. For you I would recomend "Hosanas from the basement of hell" because its much harder. Keep in mind they do music with an electronic/classical component. Also two cool facts, Dave Ghrol drummed on their self titled album a few years back and Metallica covered the song "The Wait." All that on a Gibson ES 295!

I think it's very important for whomever gets control of Gibson is to have at least a segment of their guitar manufacturing in the USA. It's a part of America, and to remove all guitar manufacturing from USA would be a mistake, however I'm sure the new buyer will be smart enough to know this.

Here's my two cents: I guess you could say that I'm hopeful, but my wish is that Gibson looks at all of the constructive criticism from KZbin channels like yours, forums and other social media to have a revival of some sort. Just to make sure its not just in the "hey, Dentists and other high paid consumer: look at our guitars with no design changes since the 1960". It would be good to see a line-up range in the same way Fender does it, a.i: an "original" gibson design (the one that we all know), and modern innovations (all access neck joints, stainless steel frets, locking tuners, satin finishes, volutes/ reducing headstock angle, etc...) that don't necessarily imply a massive spike in cost. I feel like it would be more mass appeal should they separate it that way. What would be your modern appointments Hunter?
@FunkyMonkey-ip4xy
@FunkyMonkey-ip4xy 6 жыл бұрын
Philippe Andrew Grimard While I don't disagree with you, and Gibson need to raise quality and fix tuning issues they have a bit of a unique problem. They've tried volutes before and the fan boys all cried about it. They tried the robot tuners, admittedly badly implemented, and people moaned about it. They've tried different designs, like the 'Star Trek' V which people described as hideous. They tried a double cut and got accused of ripping off PRS. On one side you have people saying they need to change, on the other side the hardcore fan boys who freak out at any change. They are proper 'damned if you do damned if you don't'.
@philippeandrewgrimard6016
@philippeandrewgrimard6016 6 жыл бұрын
I won't disagree with you as well Funky Monkey1886 😄! I think quality issues do need to be fixed, for sure. And yes, maybe the newer designs did not get the praise that the company was expecting, but sometimes you don't need reinvent the wheel to become more "mass appeal (a.i: star trek Flying V, double cut)". I honestly don't understand why some people are so resistant to change, especially if tweaking made results in an improved design !

Philippe Andrew Grimard or they could lower their prices, why spend that kind of money on a les Paul standard when I could get a full fledged ESP eclipse and a set of pickups of my choosing to put in with it, as well as any other upgrades I want and still have some change left in my pocket compared to buying a Gibson at full price

The problem with them being an "iconic brand" is that they know it. And they let it go to their heads. They expected to ride their own coat tails to make more money and consumers would just blindly accept their short comings. Too bad about Gibson, but not surprising. I played Les Pauls for 20 years, still love the feel of an sanded LP neck...but Gibson not bothering to fix any of the design flaws, cutting quality, and jacking up the price pushed me away. My 2017 Paul Reed Smith CE24 is on the same level as my 2014 LPC...and less than half the price so yeah. I really hope they get it together.

Could you please demo and review the Peavey 6505mh please and the Chapman ml3 modern standard??? Thank you love the channel!!!

Riley IoAcura if you like the 6505 sound you'll like the mini. I didn't like it through a 1x12 but on my 4x12 it rips!!! The built in power soak is exactly what you need to make the 6505mh a bedroom amp and 20 watts gets plenty loud.

If you were to pick between ltd 2017 ec-256fm and Harley Benton sc 550 imagining that they are in the same price, what would you pick? Please answer because I saw an ec-256 currently on sale at a music shop for 299$. So imagine the two guitars are in the same price, which guitar would you choose?

Btw the ec-256 that is on sale are the white, lemon drop and purple burst. I think purple burst is the best color of the three hahaha
