I like the G-45. It's, plenty loud, has an ebony wood bridge and fretboard instead of the 'richlite fretboards that Gibson was using on their earlier Generation Collection guitars. It has a nice light weight. The finish doesnt absorb any fingerprints. The new school Gibson Modern Dreadnought case fits the G-45s like a glove. With satin finish guitars to keep the fretboard and back of the neck clean, wipe it down with Naptha on a paper towel and any grime comes right off. Naptha evaporates like gasoline and won't harm the finish anywhere on these guitars. Zzounds has the best financing. Nothing down. Check this series out

Lol Gibby Keeping that non cutaway 200 in the upper echelon. I love it. I also love my G-45 studio, and it's my go to of all my other acoustics. Gibson is doing good with this collection. If you're looking for your first "real" acoustic, start here. You'll NOT be disappointed

I have the G writer, put elixir 11's on it, straightened the neck and let the fretboard drink up some oil....I got rid of my Taylor 214 lol

just wish the player port was not plastic!!! come on Gibson, do a finished edge like the front sound hole
@Ravenscaller3 жыл бұрын
There are only two ways to go with this guitar. One is the old fashioned way which is to play it in a store but nobody close has one. The other is what nobody is set up to do which is play them against the original versions they are patterned after. Of course it sounds louder to you. That's the whole idea of the port but sound is energy and energy that goes out the side can't also go out the front so there is no way these are going to sound the like the authentic models. If all you do is play for yourself at home, which I do these days, it might be a positive feature. Of course if you are going to plug it in you can make it sound however you want but what fun is that? Of course I could just cut a hole with the jigsaw in my X series Martin and save at least a grand. It would actually be an interesting experience since the Martin has plastic sides anyway.

They sound super bright and harsh. The string squeaks are off the charts. Comments sound very biased, but then again they just sent you 4 guitars. I didn’t expect you to bash them, but a little more level headed approach would be nice
@Gibsunday3 жыл бұрын
Yea, I didn’t lack “level-headedness,” we just didn’t have the same takeaway. I liked the brightness, because it felt more expressive and clearer than I had experienced prior and I believe a lot of that came from the new PlayerPort. Sorry you didn’t enjoy them, but I’m glad you gave it a try.
@jackbandel2913 жыл бұрын
@@Gibsunday sorry. Your comments sounded quite biased based on just opening and playing these guitars for a couple minutes each. Sounded like you already knew what you were going to say ahead of time. Let’s see what others think.
@Gibsunday3 жыл бұрын
@@jackbandel291 I appreciate you saying sorry! I think that’s a first for the internet, so thank you! I’m sure my excitement was obvious, but I can honestly say that I hadn’t seen or played them prior to opening. That said, if you’re used to the boom and warmth of Gibson acoustics, the brightness of these new guitars could certainly be off-putting.

"This hole, the only one of its kind"....WRONG. Many other brands have used side ports on acoustics for years.

Gibson came up with the idea of the Player Port in 1964, recently they're added it to this Generation Collection series

I have the G 45 dreadnought. It sounds brighter and louder than my J 15. G 45 feels lower quality for sure, lot less bass
