Jared James Nichols has all the chops of the people I grew up loving. So cool to see someone bring back old-school rock

I love P90s; and as great as they are for blues and rock, they are THE SOUND OF JAZZ. Les Pauls and SGs are hugely underrated in jazz applications, where they are especially good in P90 form.

P90's for rock and even metal are great also as they take distortion to a new level.

My first p90 was an epiphone casino - hooked ever since. The P90 and the Gretsch Filtertron are among the best pickups ever. Well, and tele pickups

Nice to see some P90 love! Been a fan of the P90 sound ever since I got my first Gibson in the 80's, it was a SG Special 64 and in those days you could get them for really cheap. Now I have a SG Special jr 2019 and an Epiphone Special TV Yellow 2020 and both guitars sound awesome!

I feel Jared big time. I’m also a lefty and just learned how to play right handed and have always felt at a disadvantage, but I’m improving and getting there.

Lord I need a single P-90 guitar. I feel like it’s purpose is too show you how versatile a guitar can be. Once you go back to a feature packed guitar, you have even more to apply. Of course, no one should underestimate the single butter stick.

All these great P90 players have amazing dynamics, I’m not so sure everyone would be able to coax everything out of them as effortlessly as these fellas

Yes you need one. I have a lot of nice guitars. But I decided to just use a les paul jr for 3 months and not touch any other guitars to see if people were right about them. It is a year later and single p90 guitars are all I play. My favorite is an eastman sb 55 double cut. They're amazing. I have some gibson single pickup guitars including a real vintage 1963 sg junior but the eastman is the best by a good margin.

@@Jim-ro5slI’ve picked up a few Eastman SB59’s and they are absolutely amazing! I think my next one will be an SB55/v single cut. They look like a fun little guitar!
@Jim-ro5sl3 сағат бұрын
@JAL-cc8jd The single cut Eastman's are great.I have one of those too. I got it first. Looks and plays amazing. But I only play it a little. I like how easy it is to play the double cut in the high end of the neck. I'm sure you would love either one.

I went to guitar center the other day, played an epiphone, not sure what model, but an original model and it had 3 p-90’s. Probably meant for Jazz or Country, anything but metal lol. But I played a little metal on it for fun, and wow, it sounded amazing. It suprised me how well P-90’s pulled off metal

In 1984 just out oh high school I got my first electric guitar, a second-hand cherry red Gibson Les Paul. I played it through college but needed some cash to split North Carolina and head out for my destiny. I had paid and consequently sold it for $500 or so . Might be worth $4000 now? I never had such a sweet yet raw sounding guitar again: the action was like butter. (If any body has that guitar it came with a black hard shell case. Sold it out of a small Chapel Hill shop. I wasn’t even considering noting the serial number- don’t even know what year it was made.) These last years a got back into electric axes and have been searching for my dream guitar… I went through all the fenders, Chavels, Jacksons, schectors, LTD’s, Squire’s and Epiphones and an Ibanez or two. With Thomann here in Europa one can try out a guitar for 30 days and ship it back, no questions asked. Gibsons were out of my price range (and they have a lot of bad rep for QC these days) BUT I bit the bullet and got myself the other day a new Gibson SG Special, bare bones, BLACK and with P90’s. (I am glad i did not go with an Epiphone again.) I am STILLin a honey moon phase and enamoured.

Back in the late 80s I went to a store that was clearing out their Gibson parts. They were selling those clear bobbin p90s for like $15 or $20 each. Bought about half a dozen. Sold most of them years later, they went for way more than $20 a pop. Sounded awesome. Sadly they were a little brittle, I cracked the bobbin on one of them and it damaged the windings, so that one was a loss. Didn't know anyone who could repair it at the time.

Larry DiMarzio was inspired to create the Super Distortion after hearing Leslie West playing his Les Paul Jr. with a single P-90. While I wouldn't compare a Super Distortion to a P-90, because it's very much its own thing, I can hear a bit of P-90 going on with a Super D including the one in my strat. The P-90 is a thing every player should get to know, a happy medium between a humbucker and single coil. In essence, it's a big, fat single coil, but they often have more power than your standard bucker with the snap of a single coil. There's nothing like a P-90 and every player should have at least one ax with a P-90.

I tamed the hum with an Electro- Harmonix Hum Debugger. (I'm sure I'm spelling something wrong there). It was like 79 bucks on eBay. One thing though.. it has its own power supply with plug. But, just give yourself an extra power outlet.
