Proper definition of a P90 pick up: A muddy sounding, low output, non Strat, single coil pick up, prone to 60 cycle noise. Buy a TS9 and set it to mild gain. All the tone and volume without the 60 cycle noise.

Picked up my Bourbon Burst today!
@JAL-cc8jdКүн бұрын
I bought the bourbon burst and it is gorgeous! I like all the colors, but I already have a couple other honeyburst LPs and a blueberry burst Studio. Gibson might need to start introducing new models in 8 colors so I can justify needing another one! 😂

😂 I was hoping you were really going to get into P 90s. Alas, not to be but you guys had a great conversation about Les Paul’s from the early 50s.😮 Edit: please guys, Pete Townshend?

Some solid info here. But the guitar is out of tune and the solo, while showing some Slashy stuff, is also messy like hell. That nice melody line deserves a good solo that tells a story. This ain’t it.

Won't be a new one at THAT price.

I've always had a problem with guitar pickups: the single coils had a very harsh sound, and the humbuckers made the tone too flat and muddy. Then I ordered a guitar with P90s, and I finally found what I was always looking for in a tone.

I saw Iced Earth a few years ago, and their lead guitarist played with a P-90. P-90s can definitely do metal!

I understand the cool factor of aged guitars if it’s done right. It’s a feel thing. Something feels right with an old guitar. It’s like a molded pair of leather work gloves or a broke in pair of boots. I haven’t played one of the Murphy lab Gibson’s but I know the Martin authentic aged models felt old in your hands that does something to your mood while you play and if you owned a pre-war Gibson, I didn’t want to carry it around and you’re traveling musician I think that the Murphy lab it feels like the Martin’s do can still bring your hands to the same place as if you had your old guitar with you. The pre-war market pricing for Martin’s would make more sense to not want to carry those, but not for a Gibson acoustic.

When Gibson doesn’t make overpriced guitars and they make a 25.50 scale length, we shall talk. Until then, gtfo.

It`s very interested, cause i'm a lefty too and a can´t play fast with pick too. I had the same problems like Jared. Unfortunately, I didn't decide to throw the Plec straight away, but only 30 years later. I think the writing hand is the Plec-hand.

That Falcon 20 amp is as cool as anything else in this video. Really has that vintage sound of the early Gibsons - perhaps a little tighter. If only they had allowed themselves to add a "non-vintage correct" handle that could be folded down so it could be more road worthy. Small vibey amps are getting used on the low-volume stages today.

I find the 'sweet spot' by bottoming out every thing and one at a time, in isolation with everything bottomed, roll the know and find the range that it changes yhe most and fastest. Then set everything in its prime range and tweak it from there. Trying to 'dial a tone' is useless, without toms of experience and 1000s upon 1000s of dollars of gear. Let the amp decide and develop a tone and style with it.

I wish Gibson would make a summer of love sg special. Wraptail, full pickguard, p90s, witch hat knobs, more accurate bevels.
