Purchased this pack after your review. As a veteran who's carried a ton of different packs, this pack is excellent and a nice surprise with the price point. Comfortable and secure even with a 40+ lb load. It will be my hunting pack this deer season.

I just bought one of these from the Kelty website for around $45 shipped. They only have black in stock for that price but it still seems like a steal.

I have one of those kelty bags and I think the back panel and shoulder straps are the most UNCOMFORTABLE ones I've ever used. The material digs in and scrapes my skin. Surprised your experience is so different. I still like the pack, for what its worth!
@gideonstactical8 жыл бұрын
Very weird. Very comfortable and happy with it!
@mhughs8 жыл бұрын
This has been my go-to pack for years (used to be called the "Redtail 1800'). The torso length is adjustable, as both the top and bottom of the shoulder straps can be adjusted. So it should fit a person with a longer back. The wire "frame" is great because it holds the bag's shape and keeps it open, but does not interfere with comfort.

I kinda like it doesn't have molle. It does not scream tactical, but it has the durability of one. I wish there were more "stealth" type bags like this. Great review!

I've watched a few of your videos and don't mean to be nit-picky, but it is simply "comfort". Otherwise, I like the stuff you review in detail which gives me, and I believe a lot of others , many great ideas to find and make the best of or own backpacking trips.

This pack is amazing. IMO, it's the best daypack deal out there. I've been putting mine through the wringer (For commuting and weekend adventures) for 2 years, and its showing no signs of major wear other than the outer pocket mesh getting ripped when I caught it on something in the car. That mesh is the only thing I'd change about it. I wish they made those pockets out of nylon, as the mesh gets caught on things when I'm in the woods.

Love your videos, man. Looking forward to seeing the get home bag video. It might suit my situation. From work to home, I have a 2 to 3 day walk, from a heavy urban environment, to a country environment. Not a lot of videos out there combining the two environments, for that long of a walk.

I know this isnt hardcore prepper eye candy stuff,but: Costco has ( here) 4-5 decent size backpacks with all the areas and pockets. Well made. Nice zippers.Nice straps. Really nice packs for 15-30 bucks. Really nice. Grabbed a few for gifts, kept one.Many are High Sierra Seen bags for 3-10x this cost that I likes less, much less. Perhaps made in china,never looked. *Side note. To the actor / tv host that plays this part.( that my girlfriends younger sister calls DGOY " dreamy ginger outdoor guy") You seem legit. I believe you actually do all this stuff.You should win some award that is a golden statue ! Bla bla another great vid, whats new. Waiting for you to test a Bark River Senegal, finally. last, on some vids, I assume where you live: You stand near a back window. I see bare spots. Paint that thing ! @daffybigbear8 жыл бұрын
Ill tell you , as a veteran of 20 years in the army . this bag wouldn’t last a month in the field. The webbing pouch on the side will rip in a New York Minute, The material on the shoulder straps will tear, The rubber pieces, omg, dont even get me started on those. I am sure this bag will do for any casual camping outings but for field use, I wouldn’t even think of it. Remember, you life depends on your equipment, you have to look at the material and construction and make sure it can stand up to rigorous abuse in a variety of weather conditions. dirt, heat, cold etc. I can’t think of one soldier much less a company commander that would let anyone take this pack to the field. Sorry, no disrespect intended but thats is an honest assessment from an experienced soldier. Some of the best packs I’ve used are maxpedition, London Bridge Trading company (who makes a lot of our jumpable pack for our battalion) and Blackhawk. This pack looks cool but for practical reasons i wouldn’t trust it with my life.
@daffybigbear8 жыл бұрын
Not to mention all your shit will fall out of those pouches, Theres a reason other companies dont offer those mesh pockets LoL. trust me dude, this pack is a no go for field use.
@gideonstactical8 жыл бұрын
+Daffy BIgbear I appreciate your opinion, and as a vet I don't doubt what you are saying. It is just odd that the MAP 3500 (the 3500 cu. in. version of this pack) has been raved about for years with tons of stories and testimonials from the special forces community in Afghanistan and Iraq.
@daffybigbear8 жыл бұрын
I was in the 2/75th Ranger Battalion , i can tell you that pack would never be used n the field. If i had ever caught someone with a ruck like that i would smoke their ass till they dropped. But nobody would think of using one like that. I would be very interested in seeing who in the special forces community made raving reviews of this pack. Or see those tons of stories. I know this isn’t true because each unit in SOCOM has very specific regulations and requirements for any equipment, personal or otherwise that is carried in the field. I worked with 7th SF, 5Th groups and 1st Group and every single one of them used London Bridge and Blackhawk, who ever sold you on TONS of stories and testimonials lied through their teeth and i can promise you never severed a day in any SOCOM unit.
@daffybigbear8 жыл бұрын
Don’t get me wrong , i like your videos. its just from a military stand point this pack doesnt even come close to our standards. you can’t imagine the kind of abuse our rucks go thru.

Dude WTF???, your chest straps ride in the same spot as the 5.11 Ignitor pack you just ripped apart and one of the key feature weaknesses in the pack....I think your price sensitive and not getting what in your opinion should come with the pack (the rush tier sleeve). Doesn't seem very creditable when you also should do a a long term review on the durability between these packs, higher cost typically have higher denier or abrasion resistance along with with better clips/fasteners. Just my opinion for future reviews.
