You can't beat that experience that dad has . The way he always gives a good explanation for and the fix of the issue. Best teaching skills on the planet. You'll do the same for your kids some day. Thanks for all the good real life farming experiences.

I really appreciate how you accept your dad’s advice and then do it how he wants it done. That’s a sign of respect to your dad. Those are lessons you never forget. Keep up the great work with the videos !!

When you switch from hay to straw it's always interesting to see the contrast of the first bale where it's half hay and half straw. Kinda neat to see.

Thanks so much for sharing the video. Aaron your Dad is teaching you about the the knotters and how to work on them and lace the twine. You'll use this for the rest of your life square baling. Y'all take care.

Should have just left the old baler in the shed been there done that same thing happened 55 years ago Dad thought we could get the hay in quicker if we pulled the old worn out baler out of the corner of the shed well the same thing happened we used wire instead of twine one side after about a half a round wouldn't knot the wire I remember the knife tip broke off so much for getting done quicker just crazy the exact same issue you had I guess that's why we got a new baler in the first place the old one was wore out Dad! Funny how he forgot . Love the videos guys!

Some years of wear and tear on those knotters. Just one of those things with older equipment. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.

That old baler is just being cranky. It never fails, I think, that when one thing goes wrong, another is ready for you. So good that you got the new baler. Perfect timing. Also good to see you working together so well. It isn't an easy thing to do and I noticed mom was out there to check on things too. Has Owen grown 5 inches this summer? I saw a program one time that said people grow slower for several years because the body is busy building up the brain and all of the connections. Once that is done, the growth spurt happens.

Needles, knives and knotters - always fun! We used a slightly smaller dimension twine and had, for the most part, less issues.

Always a bummer when the best laid plans go south. Part of the day in the life of a farmer. Dad's many years of experience are a valuable part of the routine. I'd perish the thought on how many bales have been through the 273.

Trying to get the perfect Square Knot that will feed through the older balers is an art! With sisal, you leave 3" tails and weave them into the twine both ways for smooth feeding, then 🤞&🙏 that they feed right and hold under tension. The ancient 281 just didn't like plastic at all, wouldn't bale with the stuff. The 326 would take any twine, any hay, any way you could get it in a windrow. I guess 40 years of difference taught someone how to use plastic twine. Great video, and it's really great that you know what the problem is and can fix it!

My dad had bayler like that....may even been a new Holland. Many a time we had problems getting it to tie. Seemed like always when we were trying to beat the rain. Baling is hot dirty work!

That nighter on the old baler looks really dirty. You need to take an air hose and clean that thing really really good. Probably should take an air hose to it when you finish using it every time. Although I didn’t see the new Baylor, you probably should take an air hose and clean it out real good too every time you finish using it. That’s what we did and never had any notice issues on the new Holland baler.

Most of the time straw bales are lighter then hay bales. I always like that. I could throw the straw bales higher up on the pile. Thanks 😊.

2 of my daughters embarrassed some guys when they could throw straw bales over the TOP of wagons, picking up after an event that straw bales were used for "country" seating. I should have been embarrassed, but I was proud of them being able to sling the bales like I thought them to! 👍🤣🤣

Definitely do look for grooves worn into the needle eyes. That will certainly make havoc when a splice knot -tries- to go through. There is no magic to splice knots, just make a good square knot and yank both sides of the knot tight. Don’t cut the tails too short. A longer tail will not untie plus it will tend to ‘bounce’ the knot through the needle eye. A worn eye can be welded up.

@ethanlee94412 ай бұрын
I've heard alot of farmers that use these old new hollands that the plastic is too slippery than the sisal twine
