It's a beautiful pen, and one I'm sure you'll cherish. I like the magnetic cap closure and that the cap posts. That end finial access to the converter is similar to that which Leonardo employs. Always enjoy your videos as I appreciate your viewpoint and expertise.

Either the material is imperfect or Mr. Smith's polishing is less painstaking than one might prefer. Fit and finish suggest a kit pen, and the engineers and makers of the kit are responsible for the magnetic closure, screw holding the clip, and the end cap covering the captive converter. Looking at the catalogue, my opinion is that, like so many kit pens, not enough material is removed from many items, so they look wasp-waisted. It looks somewhat like a pair of pens I was persuaded to bid on at a pen show auction, just to get the action going. Nobody else raised a hand, so I now own a pair of kit pens. Not bad, but nothing, as you so aptly state, to write home about. In N.J. I had a classmate named Mike Morin. Might Steve's wife be related? I'm sure your relatives put thought into choosing this pen, and if so, good choice overall. Thanks for sharing your experience with the pen. Enjoy it, and enjoy that your loved ones thought about your hobby. I really admire that.
