I got really lucky and bought this card on Amazon a few weeks ago. @@blakeyelel7950 I just finished the full build on Saturday. Paired it with a 5600x at 1440p, 144hz and everything has been perfect honestly. Temps are very good, and it runs anything at max settings, great FPS. Really glad I was able to get it

Yeah I have been using mine around 6-7 months and have had 0 issues after the first driver update. Initially the card was trying to boost way over 2150 and crashed after a while. After the update it only boosts to 1980mhz and 0 crashes. 1980 is the highest any 3080 usually does.

How is your junction temp for gaming? No mining only a bit of streaming, just ordered this card a bit worried I will have to change my thermal pad

@@Peet-_- hey dude. Id say peak temp Is between 60-70c with a slightly higher fan curve than the stock one. Hotest points are about 5-10c higher than packaging on average. That said I have good ventilation in my case so results may vary. It's a great card. The only issue I've noticed is the memory temp. It gets quite toasty. I've done some mining and the Vram quickly shoots up to 100c +. With a dedicated fan on the backplate and some tinkering I got it down to like 96c during mining. It's within spec but still way to hot IMO. I've seen people changing the pads and getting it about 10c lower during mining. I haven't bothered because I only did mine for about a week just to try it out. So you shouldn't need to do any mods for regular gaming. I'm very happy with the card overall.

Only worth it for 1440p. You will get cpu bottlenecked if you go for 1080p more times than not

I got the 3090 version and had major issues, only running on 8 pcie lanes. 48 hours later, it now runs as smooth as a Rolls Royce engine. Great video👍

@@shkaat I use a vertical gpu mount with a riser cable and apparently the riser isn’t rated for pcie 4.0, so I had to change the pcie to 3.0 in bios, everything was fine from there

Just be aware that models with serial number starting 2037 (year 2020, week 37) have an older connector where the power pins come loose. Unfortunately my pcie power pins fell into the body after plugging in my power supply. Gigabyte in the UK RMA’d and repaired my card in 4 days from collection to delivering back to me! I believe cards from wk 38 onwards have a new soldered connection to prevent this.

I wish I would've seen this before I ordered a pre built pc from newegg with this card in it. Im worried that what they're doing is taking the faulty ones that have been returned from unhappy customers, sticking them in "pre built" machines and reselling them hoping the customers will just deal with gigabyte customer repair afterwards. There have been some reviews for the pre built pcs on newegg saying "PC won't work when plugged into the GPU so I returned the PC.. gpu appears to be defective and has scuff marks as if it has its used" Pretty sketchy stuff if thats what newegg is doing.

Something is not right with the GTA V benchmark, I have a 1080ti which is (around) the same performance as 2080s along with with a 10700k clocked at 5.2ghz and a 4.7 ring. At 4K maxed setting with advanced settings off, I don't even hit 70 consistently, let alone with 2x AA on. If there is something flawed with my methodology here please tell me, but that seems more in line with a 2080ti's performance at 4K. Did he mistakenly label the 2080ti as a 2080ti?

I finally pulled the trigger replacing my good’ol Zotac 1080 AMP edition. The wait for the prices to come down was hard. I was lucky to find the gigabyte 3080 OC from Amazon for $799. I couldn’t care less for the 4080 coming soon. As soon as it hits, it will be sold out for God knows how long. I’m not playing the waiting game any longer. 3080 has more than enough power to run all my games at 4K max @ 60fps. Also, the 40 series power requirements will be ridiculous, I’m not going to spend more money to replace my 850w psu.

You have wired it incorrectly.. should be two 8pin cables coming from the PSU to GPU, not one cable from PSU splitting to two 8pin to GPU. Ill bet you money you will gain 150 Mhz core clock speed by connecting the power to the graphics card correctly.

I've had this card since launch and its been excellent. Never had a crash to desktop even on the first driver and with a bit of OC it will go to 2100mhz boost without crashing, it can go slightly higher and complete synthetic benchmarks but in games it will occasionally crash.

@@RyhtymFiend No. Majority of my gaming is 1440p, occasionally I will hook up the pc to a 4K TV. I have on rare occasions set the resolution to 1080p as a test when I wanted to see the best fps my cpu/RAM could push but that was nothing more than a few tests.

I do have 2x140mm intake fans on the bottom of the case blowing air right under the gpu, this did bring gpu temps down approximately 4-5c than without them. Any setting that allows it to boost past that is not stable in games but has managed to complete synthetic benchmarks.

Here we are a year later and availability is only marginally better, and prices are just as bad and actually trending up again. I managed to order a 3080 Ti version of this card from Best Buy for about what I would have to pay scalpers for this exact model. When looking at MSRPs the 3080 Ti looks really stupid, but in the market today it makes a bit more sense.
