A lot has changed since this Video came out concerning the Rtx 3090. Your Gigabyte Card only has a 2 Pin power connector for the max 350watt power draw. Strix has a 3 pin connector for up to 480watt power draw with higher clock speeds. So in reality the 3090 is a Beast and can get at least 20% more performance over the 3080. And a lot of new games are pushing that 11gigs of Vram to the limit. 3090 24gig capacity is no problem.

i would wait for AMD, for what has been talked and leaked it´s performance should surpass the 3080 and as we know they tend to give far better prices for their hardware than NVIDIA does, to be honest the 3090 is a joke over the double the price and for waht i have seen it only gives you 10-15% more performance and i don´t think taht is worth it, i have a rx 5700 XT and it´s performance is equivalent to the RTX 2070 Super and the 1080 ti , and given the current prices i would not switch yet if i were you

3090 great deal for 24gb vram for creatives for both 3d video photo music and gaming vs a titan or quatro and now older gen 2080 ti. 3080 best for gaming and basic work for most at good price point. Only 10gb vram is a concern especially at 4k settings. Also the caps and driver is an issue now...crashes. asus or evga is recommended not zotac or gigabyte...for extended warranty extra hdmi and cooler for additional cost around $100 more than $799. Rdna2 amd big big navi 21 80cu 16gb could be more competive.

Power depends what else you run in your PC. Many of the companies have a tool that tells you what you need. What CPU you have, how many drives etc all makes a difference. I play on a 34" monitor so the extra frame power of a 3090 would be helpful. My current RTX 2080 black system runs Xplane 11 on full everything on a 27" gaming monitor at 144mhz. It won't do that on a 34" monitor.

hi guys, In the 11th minute of the video, the memory frequency is given as 9250mhz, but my gigabyte 3080 is working at 9500mhz, is it normal to work at this frequency without any OC or is there a danger? The memory temperature goes up to 75 degrees while in game.

IMHO, everyone is forgetting a suitable scenario for the 3090 apart from 8K gaming. VR. For example, iRacing or ACC sims. You need to render each eye at aprox 2K at 90 fps(that without supersampling, which is commonly used for sharpness increase) plus an additional window rendered on the main desktop. That makes 3 separate renders, which uses of a lot of bandwidth and memory usage. I'd like to see some tests on those scenarios, comparing 3080 vs 3090.

Got a gigabyte Rtx 3090 gaming oc card last week. Within 3 days the cars died and stopped showing display. Had to return it. I recommend put in an order for asus instead. Also my card came with bent heat sync fins. To be honest the build quality looks cheap as well

I would say buy a 4K/120Hz TV instead of 8K if you want to game. whether you should upgrade your RTX 2080 Ti? If you're happy with it, why would you? Something better will come in 2022 most likely. If you really want to upgrade, the RTX 3090 will give you ~40% more performance at high resolutions. It's not a small step either.

Great video, and yea big price difference. Currently running a 2070Rtx with a Samsung 49” 144hrz 1080 ultra wide monitor, very nice. Big on Division 2 which maxed out I get 40fps-60fps. I would love to have max resolution and max settings! Games look so different and I’m all about detail. Would the 3090Rtx be able to perform this or wait until next gpu’s come out 4090Rtx? In no rush and enjoying what I have. That is my goal though for best gameplay overall. Top games playing at the moment Division 2, RDR2, DOW2, DMC. Thank you.

I was flying around in my helicopter and saw the RTX 3080 truck leave the Gigabyte factory. I jumped out, parachuted on top of one of the motorcycles guarding the truck, knocked out the driver with my boot, stood on the bike, jumped onto the truck, picked the lock with my earring, and while the drivers were distracted by my helicopter exploding, took one of the RTX 3080s, jumped off the truck, got into my speedboat waiting on the Taiwanese coast, and raced back home. To solve that buy a capture card. A capture card is a card that records gameplay better then your graphics card and you won't lose any fps with it

That'd be roughly the 4K results -20%. Most games will be fine, some you might have to drop a setting or two lower than on an RTX 3090.

Both 3080 and 3090 will be fine with running flight simulator at 1440p ultra. With help of dlss you can achieve 60 fps at 4k with 3090. You cannot achieve that without dlss. I don't know about the quality issues

"Considering SLI is dead anyway..." You earned the like for this video with that statement alone. While multi GPU is still supported on ALL Direct X 12 GPUs through Explicit Multi-GPU mode, this neither requires a SLI/NVLink connector, or SLI profiles. This mode is supported by the Direct X 12 game itself natively. Games like Ashes of the Singularity, as one for example, already support this feature. While RTX 3080 cannot do SLI, you CAN in fact use two of them together in many Direct X 12 games, in the future Vulkan too will have a multi-GPU mode built in. SLI is indeed dead, but Multi-GPU lives on in a strange, new form that is still only supported in a few games, but MAY grow over time. It's hard to say.

When many of us find a game we truly love, you know as well as I do that many of us, maybe you included, can drop 1000+ hours into a game with only 30 hours of main story. I agree with you, Ashes is a poor example. However, how familiar are you with the Deus Ex : Mankind Divided community? It's a vibrant gaming community of modders and players VERY dedicated to their game. And guess what, those players get to enjoy Explicit Multi-GPU mode when running in Direct X 12. For a gamer who might actually BUY their entire gaming system because of their love of one game specifically, these gamers exist and are not a quiet minority. While the list itself only has 4 good games that have the feature supported right now, 2 of those games in the list are known for MASSIVE hours of game play invested by their players. Civilization VI is another HUGE community of players enjoying dual GPU power without using SLI or Crossfire profiles. You are right, it is a niche, and developers do not look to be leaping aboard the EMGPU train... but there is GREAT utility to games like Deus Ex having as much performance as you can possibly throw at it. And while there won't be many, there will be more. Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout V are very likely candidates for EMGPU support, for example. People build entire new computers for new versions of Elder Scrolls when new games comes out. A pair of RTX 3080's in EMGPU mode would make gaming in Tamarill a bit cheaper than a single 3090 would be, and possible faster as well...

knowing a game or two that can make use of 24gb of Vram and RTX i have found that the 3090 although a bit overkill at this time is well worth it as previously the games i have that can use the 24GB of Vram and RTX played horribly on my old card. also this card is good for compute even more so than the old card i had (1080ti) which is useful at this time for medical research. i lend out the cards resources when i am not using it to a local university.

Great video as always! I'm curious as to why you used 90th percentile frame time instead of 99th? Is it to reduce test-to-test variance? Also, is there any chance we can have xth percentile frame time charts in the other games that aren't esports titles?

Thanks! I think 99th would be better in theory, but yeah these esports titles aren't as easy to run consistently (unless you do something very basic). So I'll think about what I'll do next time. If it starts becoming something that will really impact the choice between say AMD or Nvidia and xth percentiles tell a different story than averages, probably! Between a 3090 and 3080 where most things scale pretty evenly, I think this is just more clear to a large number of people.

I didn't need the 3090, but it does perform better than the 3080 when it comes to raw 4K either though it's only like by 10%. Which sometimes it does make a difference. I also tried the RX 3900 XT and the drivers from AMD are unstable when it comes to stability and consistency and let's not even mention all the unnecessary bloat that comes with AMD's video driver software.

Been using the same mic for a while now. I did change offices a few months ago, still need to work on the padding 😊 For 4k.the xg27uq is cool. But I would maybe wait for a 32" version with hdmi 2.1 so you can get high refreshes on consoles too.
