Great video, and yea big price difference. Currently running a 2070Rtx with a Samsung 49” 144hrz 1080 ultra wide monitor, very nice. Big on Division 2 which maxed out I get 40fps-60fps. I would love to have max resolution and max settings! Games look so different and I’m all about detail. Would the 3090Rtx be able to perform this or wait until next gpu’s come out 4090Rtx? In no rush and enjoying what I have. That is my goal though for best gameplay overall. Top games playing at the moment Division 2, RDR2, DOW2, DMC. Thank you.

A lot has changed since this Video came out concerning the Rtx 3090. Your Gigabyte Card only has a 2 Pin power connector for the max 350watt power draw. Strix has a 3 pin connector for up to 480watt power draw with higher clock speeds. So in reality the 3090 is a Beast and can get at least 20% more performance over the 3080. And a lot of new games are pushing that 11gigs of Vram to the limit. 3090 24gig capacity is no problem.

Great video as always! I'm curious as to why you used 90th percentile frame time instead of 99th? Is it to reduce test-to-test variance? Also, is there any chance we can have xth percentile frame time charts in the other games that aren't esports titles?

Thanks! I think 99th would be better in theory, but yeah these esports titles aren't as easy to run consistently (unless you do something very basic). So I'll think about what I'll do next time. If it starts becoming something that will really impact the choice between say AMD or Nvidia and xth percentiles tell a different story than averages, probably! Between a 3090 and 3080 where most things scale pretty evenly, I think this is just more clear to a large number of people.

i would wait for AMD, for what has been talked and leaked it´s performance should surpass the 3080 and as we know they tend to give far better prices for their hardware than NVIDIA does, to be honest the 3090 is a joke over the double the price and for waht i have seen it only gives you 10-15% more performance and i don´t think taht is worth it, i have a rx 5700 XT and it´s performance is equivalent to the RTX 2070 Super and the 1080 ti , and given the current prices i would not switch yet if i were you

Power depends what else you run in your PC. Many of the companies have a tool that tells you what you need. What CPU you have, how many drives etc all makes a difference. I play on a 34" monitor so the extra frame power of a 3090 would be helpful. My current RTX 2080 black system runs Xplane 11 on full everything on a 27" gaming monitor at 144mhz. It won't do that on a 34" monitor.

knowing a game or two that can make use of 24gb of Vram and RTX i have found that the 3090 although a bit overkill at this time is well worth it as previously the games i have that can use the 24GB of Vram and RTX played horribly on my old card. also this card is good for compute even more so than the old card i had (1080ti) which is useful at this time for medical research. i lend out the cards resources when i am not using it to a local university.

3090 great deal for 24gb vram for creatives for both 3d video photo music and gaming vs a titan or quatro and now older gen 2080 ti. 3080 best for gaming and basic work for most at good price point. Only 10gb vram is a concern especially at 4k settings. Also the caps and driver is an issue now...crashes. asus or evga is recommended not zotac or gigabyte...for extended warranty extra hdmi and cooler for additional cost around $100 more than $799. Rdna2 amd big big navi 21 80cu 16gb could be more competive.

If i can say a thing, even if the games that we have on the market are those you showed for benchmarks, the main factor that we have to consider is: "is the 3080 capable to have a decent life considering the price? Future games to be developped will use all the potentials of the new technologies so maybe a 3080 will be a not so good deal in the long time (minimum 3-4 yeras of gaming life?). I can say that maybe the 3080 20GB will be the best deal but to see it's price.:) Thank you again.

if a 1080ti from 2014 can keep up with games at 40 fps min I would expect the 3080 to last a solid 7-8 years assuming there aren't any driver or hardware issues etc. it runs cooler overall compared to the other 3080 cards which was my big plus. not to mention the 4 yr warranty - can't really beat that.

Got a gigabyte Rtx 3090 gaming oc card last week. Within 3 days the cars died and stopped showing display. Had to return it. I recommend put in an order for asus instead. Also my card came with bent heat sync fins. To be honest the build quality looks cheap as well

IMHO, everyone is forgetting a suitable scenario for the 3090 apart from 8K gaming. VR. For example, iRacing or ACC sims. You need to render each eye at aprox 2K at 90 fps(that without supersampling, which is commonly used for sharpness increase) plus an additional window rendered on the main desktop. That makes 3 separate renders, which uses of a lot of bandwidth and memory usage. I'd like to see some tests on those scenarios, comparing 3080 vs 3090.

Been using the same mic for a while now. I did change offices a few months ago, still need to work on the padding 😊 For 4k.the xg27uq is cool. But I would maybe wait for a 32" version with hdmi 2.1 so you can get high refreshes on consoles too.

On the Gigabyte card specifically? I actually did have one pin on the RTX 3080 that I had to put straight after i tried to reconnect it for a second test run. I didn't think too much off it since I could just put it straight. But if there are other reports, i'd like to keep my eye on them!

hi guys, In the 11th minute of the video, the memory frequency is given as 9250mhz, but my gigabyte 3080 is working at 9500mhz, is it normal to work at this frequency without any OC or is there a danger? The memory temperature goes up to 75 degrees while in game.

I didn't need the 3090, but it does perform better than the 3080 when it comes to raw 4K either though it's only like by 10%. Which sometimes it does make a difference. I also tried the RX 3900 XT and the drivers from AMD are unstable when it comes to stability and consistency and let's not even mention all the unnecessary bloat that comes with AMD's video driver software.

Thanks for the review, definitely going for the 3080 I guess. I noticed the gpu only has two 8-pins connectors. That would make the maximum power draw of the card 375W if I'm correct. That does not leave a lot of room for overclocking considering the stock version already draws 350W. I feel like this card would have had more potential if it was able to draw more power. Looking forward to the review of the MSI card which has 3 8-pins.

Great review!! Sadly NVIDA's website does not say it ALSO delivers "the ultimate gaming experience", it ONLY says that. While just having more VRAM on a gaming card may be helpful for some work flow situations, sadly not for my work. All the workstation card features present on the TITAN are software neutered on the 3090. PTC Creo is the main software I use. - I'm super bummed out because the TITAN cards have always been a great compromise for me. I've been able to get top tier gaming performance and still be as close as I need to be to a Quadro in my engineering CAD and analysis software. Large CAD assemblies can chew up VRAM super quick so that does help, but a lot of the performance is lost in CREO and Solidworks without those features they disabled. :((( Hopefully they still slot a new TITAN between this and the upcoming Quadros.

Thanks! I'm not familiar with Creo at all, other than knowing it's part of a benchmark suite I do usually run on laptops (added it when I got my first Quadro laptops). Is that one of those things that you need a Quadro for, or would a Titan normally have been fine? And there is still a chance they'll address this in an update correct? I'd love to throw it Nvidia way next time I speak with them. Shouldn't be too long from now 😂

@@TechTesters They specifically said this was going to be a gaming only card after the launch. So those features are disabled on purpose. They were hinting that this was going to be "TITAN class". By that they meant not anything like a TITAN. :( - I assume Viewport is the suite your talking about yeah? LTT published those results on the 3090 today and were kind enough to include Creo even though no one outside of high end mechanical engineering companies have ANY idea what it is!! Creo has always had a partnership with NVIDIA and while they only officially support Quadro cards it has always run super well and even tops the Viewport benchmarks using TITANs. So yeah,it's always been a great middle ground giving me plenty of engineering performance in my application without sacrificing any gaming performance. is this card crashing in games for you? i heard alot of rtx 3080s are crashing because they cheaped out on some parts. is this 3090 also crashing to desktop while gaming?

The cards (4x 3080 and 2x 3090) have all been stable for me so far. Is it in specific games? It's only been a few weeks so its hard to be 100% sure, but so far no probs.

I really wonder what they'll do with that, if anything. Would feel weird to launch a slight upgrade within the few few months, let alone weeks. We'll see. Im hearing from many sides that 3080 supply will remain a problem for a while. If I needed a new gpu now, I'd probably just preorder one now, wouldn't surprise me if we see prices going up soon rather than down. And I hate preorders 😬

Hi, the LTT review pointed out the 3090 is not quite the Titan replacement for professional workloads (kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5vGqaWcerubmZo ). They even got confirmation from NVidia to that effect (see around the 10 min mark). If you have the time, would be really useful if you could investigate it a bit further. Of course I understand if you don't have the time. Great practical review, as always :)

Thanks! And I know, but it depends on the exact workload though. Not really sure what my plan is yet, got a couple of other things I want to do first (Nvidia has eaten quite some time already :P). But if a lot of people tell me they want more workstation perf, I'll think about it!

I got 75Hz 1440p monitor and i think 3080 is good enough for it ;)
