Hi John! Seems like it, through the looking glass! Crazy stuff. ASRock if true to what they have stated will be the only way on a HEDT. Makes one wonder, what's Up with that! Wonder how this will affect USB4. Time will tell. One Subscriber had asked Gigabyte about their Thunderbolt 4 AIC. Should be out within 2 weeks but which requires 2 Thunderbolt Headers. Nuts! I looked at the manual for the Asus Prime Z590-A and it was ambiguous about whether the ThunderboltEX 4 card goes in a PCH or CPU attached slot, so I wrote Asus support this: When using a "ThunderboltEX 4" PCIe adapter in a "PRIME Z590-A" motherboard what PCIe slot(s) can the "ThunderboltEX 4" work in? Page 2-15 of the Z590-A manual has a picture that looks seems to show the "ThunderboltEX 4" going into "PCIEX16_3" -- one of the CPU attached PCIe 4.0 slots. However, the text on the page says "Ensure to install the Thunderbolt series card to a PCIe slot from the PCH" -- which would be the PCIEX4 slot, the PCIe 3.0 x4 attached to the PCH/Z590 chipset. Does the "ThunderboltEX 4" work in one of the CPU attached "PCIEX16_x" slots, or the PCH attached "PCIEX4" slot -- or either one? ... to which they replied: Based on information received from our technical support department, the card can be installed on any PCIe slot, x4 or larger. Just make sure everything is plugged in correctly such as Thunderbolt header, USB 2.0 header, and 6 pin power cable. ... although, I haven't actually tested to know if tech support was giving me a correct answer, or just any answer so they could close a ticket.

Hi jeverett0902, Welcome! Very good point! Based on the answer, Tech Support did not understand the Question. Based on Your Question, plain and simple. CPU or Chipset? Not just, PCIe slot, x4 or larger. Only one way to verify! Try and see what happens! And that's what We need to know! Keep Us Posted on Your progress! As We are seeing, just because the documentation says one thing, doe not make it correct! Test and Verify! Is WAS Chipset. It's NOW suppose to be CPU! Or so We are lead to believe. The Thunderbolt Driver model has changed from Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 to Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4 supposedly due to tunneling. However, Thunderbolt 3 is suppose to support PCIe tunneling. And could that change in the tunneling protocol procedure be the determining factor. Just a Theory, thinking out loud. Details matter! Thanks for sharing! We have this same confusion whether on Intel or AMD. AMD implies chipset yet the configuration appears to be on the CPU. It's like, Who's on First! Obfuscation!

@BUILDORBUY So much knowledge! Automatic subscribe. Question, can I use the GIGABYTE GC-MAPLE RIDGE with an MSI MPG Z590 Carbon EK X?
@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Oz, Welcome! Here to help! Knowledge should be shared! I'm honored! Thunderbolt 4 implementation with full support has become brand specific due to the Motherboard Header Pinouts. As You know, MSI does not have a Thunderbolt 4 AIC. Yet! Which makes no sense since You have the correct Chipset for Thunderbolt 4 support and the Thunderbolt 4 Header - 16 Pin, on Your Motherboard, which is the largest Header Pinout of anyone yet! There's a chance for partial support using the Gigabyte Thunderbolt 4 AIC. We have not Tested yet. This is not like configuring the Gigabyte Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 AIC. Not what You wanted or needed to hear. We're planning on an unsupported install. And when We do, We will document the What, Why and How of the Process! Gigabyte Thunderbolt 4 uses a 5 Pin + 3 Pin Header. Pins are not identified. On the Gigabyte Titan Ridge TB 3 AIC, Jump Pins 3 to 5. Keeps the AIC alive. ASUS Thunderbolt 4 uses 14 - 1 Pin Header. Pins are identified. MSI on this Motherboard uses a 16 - 1 Pin Header. Pins are identified. MSI MPG Z590 Carbon EK X; See PDF: Page 35. Pin out is well documented. www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z590-CARBON-EK-X ASUS comes the closest. But the identifying Pins are labeled differently. MSI 16 - 1 Pin Header. 1 - TBT_FORCE_PWR - 2 - TBT_S0IX_ENTRY_REQ 3 - TBT_CIO_PLUG_EVENT# - 4 - TBT_S0IX_ENTRY_ACK 5 - SLP_S3#_TBT - 6 - TBT_PSON_OVERRIDE_N 7 - SLP_S5#_TBT - 8 - No Pin 9 - Ground - 10 - SMBCLK_VSB 11 - DG_PEWAKE# - 12 - SMBDATA_VSB 13 - TBT_RTD3_PWR_EN - 14 - Ground 15 - TBT_CARD_DET_R# - 16 - PD_IRQ# ASUS 14 - 1 Pin Header. 1 - TBT_FORCE_PWR - 2 - TB_I2C1_SCL 3 - TBT_CIO_PLUG_EVENT# - 4 - TB_I2C1_SDA 5 - SLP_S3#_TBT - 6 - TB_I2C1_IRQ# 7 - N57787112 - 8 - TB_RTD3_POWER_EN 9 - Ground - 10 - SLP_S0_PLT_N_10 11 - No Pin - 12 - TB_PERST_GPIO_N 13 - TB_RTD3_SW - 14 - TB_RTD3_WAKE# This is as far as We have gone. Pins 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 are same. We know enough to know We need to know more! MSI has 1 redundant ground. Either the Pins are different or the nomenclature is different. I've shared this so You can ponder as We have. Annoying! We don't have enough information for a follow up Video on this yet! To reiterate, MSI only has a Thunderbolt 3 AIC. At this time! us-store.msi.com/Add-On-Cards Marketing hype. Useless. thunderbolttechnology.net/consumer/ This one is useless. Nothing Listed under Thunderbolt 4 AIC at all. thunderbolttechnology.net/products In a nutshell, my suggestion... You're going to have to wait! How long? Nothing announced. My guess would be 12 months or more. That's a complete cycle for Motherboards. And PCIe 5.0 is coming soon! Answering Subscribers Questions has had Us Testing M.2 NVMe PCIe Heatsinks! We have much more to cover on Thunderbolt. Hope this helps! Stay Tuned!

Hi Adam Grumbo, Welcome! Thank You! I'm honored! Lots of Reading and Research! Right now, Thunderbolt on TRX40 HEDT and WRX80 Workstation is only going to be Titan Ridge due to the Thunderbolt Motherboard Header and it's Vendor Specific. We thought it might be possible but does not look like that's going to pan out. We need to Build an ASRock System and see what's up with the Bios settings and the Driver. The Maple Ridge Thunderbolt Driver is vastly different than the Titan Ridge Thunderbolt Driver. I say wait for USB4 which so far has been silent. And Intel has already indicated work on Thunderbolt 5 is progressing! Ugh! We covered that in a Video too! I thought Our problem was Bios Support. ASRock shows a workaround on Maple Ridge for Titan Ridge in their Bios screens. But no details. Sparse documentation. I've only read about but have not seen it yet. Hassle right. We've identified 4 Levels of Builds for Content Creation. Thunderbolt 4 is not positioned on the 2 Top tiers for TRX40 HEDT nor WRX80 Workstation. That is most curious. Thunderbolt 4 is being positioned on Entry Level 10 Core and Secondary Level 16 Core Builds. Odd and interesting. As if Vendors think We fell off a turnip truck! When We know more, We'll make another Video! Stay tuned! Appreciate Your Comments! Thanks for Watching! Right now, Answering Subscribers Questions, We're knee deep in M.2 NVMe Heatsinks! @BuildOrBuy I have an MSI z690 Windforce. It says it has a TB4 header. MSI doesn't make its own TB4 card. Do you happen to know if the Gigabyte or ASUS TB4 card (or other card) can work on it? Hi StefanUrkel, Welcome! Building a DAW? An unfortunate situation We are dealing with! As You know, MSI does NOT yet make a Thunderbolt 4 Add in card. Why? Who knows! Go figure. PITA! Hi rudinah, Welcome! Great question! Thank You for Your Comments! This goes to the Motherboard Thunderbolt Header as to how may Pins are required for Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 3, Bios support capability. Maple Ridge has added Tunneling. To enable that feature requires Bios support. For full support of any Thunderbolt 3 or 4 requires Bios support to allocate Memory for Connected Devices. Gigabyte was using the 5 Pin Motherboard Header for Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3. They have now added to that an additional 3 Pin Header for Maple Ridge. ASUS chose a 14-1 Pin Header. No way around that as far as We know right now. Only ASRrock has maintained a 5 Pin Header for both Titan Ridge and Maple Ridge. If that's true, We want to see if We can enable ASRock Maple Ridge on a Gigabyte Motherboard that previously only had support for Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3. That's Our dilemma. Hope that explanation offers clarity. Thanks for Asking! Stay tuned!

Hi Mohammad Mohammadi, Welcome! Looks like We're going to have to do another Video on this Topic. To reiterate, You'll have partial support! @@BuildOrBuy if I’m not mistaken you can short pins 3 and 5 on a titan ridge card and skip the cable, also if I’m correct the TB header is not used for data transmission but for the security features of TB? Hi@@NikolaiCherepanov, Yes! However, to reiterate, no Bios support to set Memory Aputures for Thunderbolt Device Connectivity and Enumeration. It's hit or miss. Devices may Connect and Disconnect at random since not enough Memory allocation is possible. There is a small default Memory allocation but very small. Jumping Pins 3 to 5 works for some but not for everyone. And that was for Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 4 is vastly different. The next step for Thunderbolt 4 is USB4 and that requires PCIe Tunneling which requires Bios support to enable that feature. Hi StereoKilla, Welcome! Thank You for Your Comments! Just now seeing Your message! KZbin stuff! Thunderbolt is a conundrum! And should not be that way! Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4 implementation is Vendor Specific. Unlike Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 which was more generic. In other words, I'm not aware of an MSI add in card for Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4. Looking over the PDF, MSI x570 A Pro Motherboard is not setup for Thunderbolt. No Bios support! If it was it would only be for Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3. And it is not. The Driver model is vastly different from what We've seen as well. You might be able to get partial support with Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3. We've only tried it using the Gigabyte Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 Controller card. There will be no Bios Support. Meaning no way to set the 2 Memory Apertures for Connecting Thunderbolt Devices. No way to set Security Levels either. It's hit or miss. If You want Thunderbolt 4 Support, suggest a different Motherboard. What are Your criteria? MSI 1st? Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4 2nd? We'll take a look and see what We can find if You like. MSI does have Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4 but only built in. No Add In cards that we're ware of... Yet! And Intel is already talking about Thunderbolt 5! Ugh! We just want to make it work! A guy with the same laptop as mine, said he was going to try using a D3100 docking station. This somebody else with the same laptop said oh no, you need a WD 19S 130W. So, I go onto Amazon and they seem to have 2 different(?) D3100. One has a lovely 2.6 review rating and the other is Amazon's Choice and it has a 4.6 rating. The only difference I can see is the Amazon Choice is Dell USB 3.0 Ultra HD/4K Triple Display Docking Station (D3100), Black and that's the one with a 4.6 rating. So, what do you think Gill?

Hello Gill, your technical videos on Thunderbolt are unique and very much aprreciated. I can be mistaken but can it be that in this video you have not talked about the pin out on the MSI Thunderbolt header? On the Z590 and now Z690 there is often a JTBT1 header for a Thunderbolt 4 add in card but it differs from the one of Asus. So if I would buy a MSI motherboard with such a header and MSI never brings an Thunderbolt 4 add in card to market; is it possible to make another Thunderbolt card of ASrock, Asus or Gigabyte work? With my thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Arjjunananda Das, Welcome! Thank You! Appreciate Your Comments! Our Goal is to Keep it Simple and Make it Work! At the time of this Video, MSI only had Thunderbolt 4 built-in. MSI now indicates I think, correct me if wrong, a 16-1 Pin Header (JTBT1 header) for Thunderbolt 4. And MSI has no indication of a Thunderbolt 4 Add in card at this time. Go figure. Appears, right now, Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4 implementation is Vendor Specific due to the Motherboard Header Pinout until We or someone can decipher the Pinout arrangements, can compare and through trial and error give it a shot. And that could be a problem since if wrong, could fry a Motherboard. Whereas on Thunderbolt 3, jumping Pins 3 to 5 gave partial support. Meaning only native support. Meaning, only Thunderbolt 3 and no legacy support. Meaning, no Thunderbolt 1 or Thunderbolt 2. And leaving no way to set Memory Apertures for Thunderbolt Devices in the Bios. Will MSI have a Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4 AIC? Let's hope so! And the Bios settings for Thunderbolt 4 are different. So is the Driver model. Gigabyte did not finish Thunderbolt 3 Bios support on their x399 Aorus Xtreme. However, there is a Bios Update that We have not tried yet that might. But does not mention Thunderbolt support enabled. Crazy, right. Thanks for Asking! Stay Tuned! MSI Store for Thunderbolt AIC - Still only indicating Thunderbolt 3 AIC. us-store.msi.com/Add-On-Cards

@@BuildOrBuy Yes this is correct. I just contacted MSI about this issue. The board I have uses a 16-1 Pin Header (JTBT1) but MSI doesn't make a Thunderbolt 4 card that would connect to that header. Right now, it doesn't look like anybody else does either. So, I agree, if the goal is to keep it simple and make it work, watch out for this on the MSI motherboards.

Hi Kurt, Welcome! Great Question! Glad You've Asked! There's lot's here to consider. However just to address what You're asking Specifically, tell Us more about Your Monitors? Brand and Model. First, while We await Your Monitor Specifics, if You get a GPU, why not plug both Monitors directly into the GPU? Second, Thunderbolt can do 3 things. 1. Data 2. Power, if Routed. 3. Video, also if Routed. Thunderbolt does not have Video. Video has to be Routed or Ingested into Thunderbolt to get Video out of Thunderbolt. Think about that. You still will have to Buy a GPU. Thunderbolt is just an I/O Card. Yes, Your CPU / Internal GPU routes Video out through that One DisplayPort connection. Yes, You can get 1 Monitor to use the Internal GPU. Yes, You can connect other Monitors through either directly to GPU or Route Video into Thunderbolt to get Video out of Thunderbolt. Hope that helps! Thunderbolt is Fascinating! So are both the Titan Ridge and Maple Ridge Thunderbolt AICs. Another Discussion!

@@BuildOrBuy Its seems to me from what you've mentioned so far is that this Thunderbolt card won't work for me. I have two Asus, VE278, 27" monitors which each only have one HDMI input and one display port input. I understand that the Thunderbolt card has to have the video ingested from a graphics card(in my case, that would be only be from one display port on my mother board from integrated graphics) but I thought, or was hoping that the one other standard size display port out that is on the thunderbolt could have been exception and perhaps independent to the "ingested" video. I thought the "ingested' video taken by the thunderbolt card would outputted by the USB C/Thunderbolts ports to monitors with those types of ports. Note that there is 5 ports on Thunderbolt card.2X USB Type-C/ 1x DisplayPort 1.4/ 2X Mini DisplayPort. I think I understand now. Looks like I'll have to purchase a graphics card.

Ok....crazy question time as I'm struggling to get the answer on this.......so my current GPU is a ASUS STRIX GTX 970 and it has 1 X displayport out (as well as an HDMI out). So the Gigabyte Thunderbolt 4 Maple Ridge card has two cables for taking two displayport from the GPU to two mini-displayport in the thunderbolt card.....do I/can I....use a HDMI to mini-displayport to populate both inputs on the thunderbolt card or do I really need to look at upgrading to a GPU that supports to displayport outs? Or (for that sake) can one use just one cable if only using 1 monitor? I would test this but currently my existing Samsung S24C570 monitor does not actually have a displayport input........but I am trying to plan ahead now that I have the Thunderbolt card installed. Then a bit more fundamental a question.....am I correct to assume that the reason for two mini-displayports in and one displayport out on the thunderbolt card is because the one displayport out carries both signals (two monitors) and the signal is daisy chained at the monitors?
@BuildOrBuy

Hi Polyphonics, Welcome! Great Question! Congrats on getting Thunderbolt 4! However, have to ask, why not just plug in Your Monitor to Your Video card instead of Routing Video through Thunderbolt? Your GPU works for now with the Monitor You have. Your Monitor has VGA and HDMI. Your GPU has HDMI and Mini-Display Port. And Your GPU has Windows 11 support! An Adapter to get from HDMI to Mini-Display Port. $50. A Mini-Display Port Hub. Yes doable. Same. If You can find one to keep Mini-Display Port to Dual Mini-Display Port. Otherwise, more Adapters. All We know of are Mini-Display Port to Display Port. Eventually Yes, get a new GPU. Same for the Monitor. Eventually. Right now both work as is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! That should be the case, until We can Test and Verify to confirm otherwise. Hope that helps! Thanks for Asking!

@BuildOrBuy Жыл бұрын
Hi StormRider, Welcome! Every Motherboard with Thunderbolt Bios support will have a Thunderbolt Pinout Header. 5 Pin Header, or 5 Pin Header plus 3 Pin Header or 14-1 Pin Header or 20 Pin Header. Depends upon Vendor implementation. The Thunderbolt AIC will include the whatever Pin count Thunderbolt Header cable. There's a single or dual Cable to connect the Thunderbolt Add-in-Card to the Motherboard aside from the PCIe Slot, Power, USB 2 and Routing of Video. Thunderbolt 3 was simple and more generic. Intel tightened up the Specs on Thunderbolt 4. Thunderbolt 4 implementation is Brand specific. That Pin out Header cable is required for Bios support. Thunderbolt 4 is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 3 only. Thunderbolt 3 is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2. Hope that clarification helps. Talking in shorthand. For example, ASUS uses the 14-1 Pin Header. Links below. 1. ASUS ThunderboltEX 4 with Intel Thunderbolt 4 JHL 8540 Controller, 2 USB Type-C Ports, up to 40Gb/s bi-Directional Bandwidth, DisplayPort 1.4 Support, up to 100W Quick Charge. amzn.to/3ll8RzX As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases! 2. ASUS ThunderboltEX 4 - Tech Specs www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/accessories/thunderboltex-4/techspec/ See: Compatible Models: Please note that only ASUS Intel 500 series and later motherboards with a 14-1 pin Thunderbolt header can support ThunderboltEX 4 card. www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/accessories/thunderboltex-4/helpdesk_manual/?model2Name=ThunderboltEX-4 On Thunderbolt 3 We could jump Pins 3 to 5 to keep the Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 AIC alive. @BuildOrBuy Жыл бұрын
Hi@@guilladogui8259, Ok. Got it. Short Answer, no. The next Question since You want or need Thunderbolt is 1st the Motherboard Chipset. Intel Z790 or AMD X670E. So You're choosing Intel Z790. Ok. Next Question. Pick a Motherboard Brand. ASUS Outsells all other Motherboard Manufacturers 2 to 1. Historically if choosing AMD, Gigabyte. If choosing Intel, ASUS. And if Building a Server, Supermicro. Ok. If using ASUS then by Chipset, Z790. And look at every ASUS Z790 Motherboard then determine which ones either have Thunderbolt built-in or can have Thunderbolt as an Add in card. Due to Consumer Desktop Motherboards having limited Shared PCIe Resources, if Thunderbolt is Built-in, those required 4 PCIe Lanes are set allocated. If Thunderbolt is an add in card, chances are that PCIe Slot may have Shared PCIe Lanes. Those are the Options. That's the Path. Takes time to look at all of those Specs. The only set List from say ASUS about their Motherboards with Thunderbolt 4 would only be for the Add in card. The Motherboards with Thunderbolt 4 built-in requires digging through the Specs to make that determination. Research takes time. We know. Been there, done that! So to reiterate, Your Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt works as is on that Generation of Motherboard but will not work on a newer Motherboard. Built-in obsolescence. Hope that helps! Now, same is true for Bios Bifurcation technology. ASUS has a Bifurcation Chart that makes that topic easy if You know what You're looking for. The same is not available for Thunderbolt. To reiterate, ASUS has a Thunderbolt add-in card Chart but not a Thunderbolt Motherboard built-in Chart. That would help if such existed. We can start with the Chipset and search from there. Yes Tedious and time consuming. Once You create that List then it's a matter of Your other choices based on priorities. Every Motherboard has different PCIe Resource allocations. All depends upon options and priorities. List Your Top 5 Priorities and see which Motherboard fits those preferences. Changing one thing can change everything! Thunderbolt is a good example. That's 4 PCIe Lanes required! Now the downside of ASUS. Currently no Motherboard Block Diagrams so We can visualize the Layout of PCIe Resources. We have to reverse Engineer and figure it out. That's why We have Motherboard Videos of Slots and Storage for PCIe Resource allocations. One Motherboard, one Video. Outlined. Hope You can see what You're working with. Keep Us Posted on Your Solution. Another Option would be if You wanted to hire me to do that for You. Only takes time. Helps if You know what to look for. But it still requires Research. Hope that helps!

So Can I get this card on a the AMD WRX80 motherboard? like Asus Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI???
@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi kemeral jones, Welcome! Short Answer: Partial support maybe, depends on connected singular Device. Trial and Error. Longer Answer: For Full Thunderbolt 4 support, requires Bios Support to set Memory Apertures in Bios for Device connectivity. Thunderbolt 4 is Vendor specific in implementation due to the Thunderbolt Header from Thunderbolt card to Motherboard for Bios Configuration and Device Enumeration from Bios through Bootstrap to O/S - Windows. Linux can get around that. Windows cannot. We have several Videos on this Topic of Thunderbolt 3 & 4 Implementation and Requirements. To reiterate, ASUS uses... 1. Thunderbolt 3 - 9 Pin Header originally a 5 Pin Header. And there's a special custom Cable available to reduce the 9 Pin to a 5 Pin. 2. Thunderbolt 4 - 14-1 Pin Header We were working to identify the Pins, on Thunderbolt 4, but lost the Hard Drive with all of that Data. Like starting over from scratch! Bummer! Also, the Driver model is different for Thunderbolt 3 vs Thunderbolt 4. We are more likely to get ASUS Thunderbolt 3 working, partially than ASUS Thunderbolt 4, based on what We know from Our experience. Have We tried ASUS Thunderbolt 4? No. Not yet. Why? Too many other Questions to Answer with greater repetition. Our Thunderbolt 3 experience is with Gigabyte Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3. On said card We can jump Pins 3 to 5 to keep the card alive. Such may be possible on the ASUS but We have not tried it yet so We don't know for certain. Hit or miss. But... This IS on the List! Anyway... Looks like We need to do a Video on this Topic! There are a lot of Questions on how to do this or that on the ASUS WRX80 Motherboard. Some, easy and some like this, not so easy but needs a Video to Test and Verify! Anything I say is my opinion and not fact until to reiterate We test and verify. No substitute for experience! In other words, We need to try and see what happens! WE know what to expect. Hope that helps!

HI@@kemeraljones, Absolutely! For now, wise choice! We're getting a lot of Questions about Thunderbolt 3 & 4 on Motherboards that should support Thunderbolt 3 or 4, let alone the ones that don't. Thunderbolt should not be so complicated. We can thank Intel for that! We will be doing more Thunderbolt Videos as We get through the Questions from Answering Subscribers Questions about this or that!

Hi@@kemeraljones, I think something was lost in the translation. If that were true, where on the ASUS WRX80 Motherboard is the Thunderbolt Header for Bios support?

@@BuildOrBuy I have a Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z590 ud ac x.x... Funny thing is, the thunderbolt works. but when i hit the restart everything just freezes. I removed it and everything work fine. However I called Gigabyte about it and they claim that its the right thunderbolt card for the mother board.

Hi@@rodneymims5682, Yes. Have to verify everything first. No Firmware listed for the Gigabyte Maple Ridge card yet. And none of the Motherboard Bios Updates specifically address Thunderbolt either. Have You tried any other Devices besides Your Smartphone? Could be the Smartphone Storage that's holding up the Boot process. We've seen USB Devices stop a Bootstrap as well. Why? Trying to Boot from the Device. If this is Your only problem, not a deal breaker just a hassle. Hope that helps!

@@BuildOrBuy well I was going to buy the Apollo interface but it only support the thunder bolt. I installed it and used my phone to see if it’s getting connection or working. I can restart the computer, that’s the main problem…. If I let it sit there for some time it will blue screen giving my hardware issue. But when I removed it; it stop giving me that problem. I have to hard restart the computer constantly when using the thunderbolt.

Hi Hasan ÖZ, Gigabyte has produced 5 Thunderbolt Add in cards. The Chipsets are different. 1.) Gigabyte Maple Ridge is Thunderbolt 4. - Intel JHL8540 Thunderbolt 4 controller 2.) Gigabyte Titan Ridge 2.0 is Thunderbolt 3. - Intel DSL7540 Thunderbolt 3 controller - Intel JHL7540 Thunderbolt 3 Controller 3.) Gigabyte Alpine Ridge is Thunderbolt 3. - Intel DSL6540 C-step Thunderbolt 3 controller www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/Thunderbolt-Card ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/193684/intel-jhl8540-thunderbolt-4-controller.html ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/97400/intel-jhl7540-thunderbolt-3-controller.html ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/87402/intel-dsl6540-thunderbolt-3-controller.html Hope that clarification helps! Hi@@Hasan_OZ , Yes, Gigabyte labels the chipset differently than what Intel has defined. No such part number with Intel. - Intel DSL7540 Thunderbolt 3 controller - Intel JHL7540 Thunderbolt 3 Controller One in the same. Anyway, You have Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3. Not Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4. What Motherboard are You using? Why? The Thunderbolt Motherboard Header Pinout is different.

Can this one be used with TRX40 Designare mainboard?
@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie Leemakdej, Welcome! Unfortunately does not appear to be possible. Vendor implementation is Vendor Specific. A real hassle. If We later learn different, We will make another Video! The Maple Ridge Driver model is also different than the Titan Ridge. We need to Build an ASRock Maple Ridge Computer and see what's going on. Even the Bios settings are different from what We've seen with Titan Ridge Settings. Agree, We should have or be able to enable Maple Ridge on TRX40. However, USB4 is still on the horizon. Right now, crickets! But USB4 is suppose to be Thunderbolt 3 compatible which means there will be a USB5. At which point We'll be using PCIe 6.0. So for now, the annoyance, Titan Ridge is it for TRX40 HEDT and WRX80 Workstations. Thanks for Asking! This is still a work in progress as far as We're concerned! We will continue to Research this issue! Stay tuned!

@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Adit Raj, Welcome! Great Question! Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4 implementation is Vendor Specific due to the Thunderbolt Motherboard Header(s). On Gigabyte , 5 Pin + 3 Pin. On the Gigabyte x570 Aorus Xtreme, Gigabyte Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 only. 5 Pin. www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-XTREME-rev-11#kf 1. Depends upon the Motherboard Revision if the required 5 Pin Header is present. Not on Rev 1.0. On Rev 1.1, Rev 1.2 and should be on Rev 2.0. Cannot currently access that page. 2. To reiterate, Gigabyte Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 only. 5 Pin. No Maple Ridge Thunderbolt 4. Requires: 5 Pin + 3 Pin Header. www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-XTREME-rev-11#kf Bummer right. Hope that helps! Thanks for Asking!

Rule #1 of visual storytelling: show, don't tell. After I stuck with it, I was able to get about 20% information that I was looking for. You're talking a lot without saying much. Cut out the stuff you don't have info on instead of saying that you don't have it. Break your layout into bullet points and make a visual for it or something. Anything except an unmitigated infodump. We're busy and don't have time for all this and will click away quickly but I see the value of the information you have and the knowledge you have but man, you really have to narrow your focus and message. Don't worry about angles and production before you worry about the presentation to the viewer and I know what you're saying makes sense to you but you're coasting past most people and therefore reducing eyes on your content but you have great info but you're talking off the top of your head with no filter and really need to narrow it down and not death by monotone word thought soup. Subbed and looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.
