Cheers and thank you again, any critique is welcome in order to make a better band and make me a better musician. This song was written completely for the purpose of being a single, the other songs in our repertoire, as Mark The Shark put it, are much more complex and physically demanding. This song is physically demanding with tricky verse riff variations on a theme, especially with the right hand. This song is also 7 years old haha, and anything new is much more dense. Thank you for your honesty, hope to really push the envelope one day with something I have written.

Jerry if you want to hear some recent doom which does something interesting with the genre, I highly recommend checking out Weeping Sores - False Confession. It's some of the most unique doom I've heard in years.

Thanks for the rec, that was cool and way better than peeling-apart-velcrocore band Pyrrhon. Rough songwriting but cool riffs and has personality- but man is it carried by the violin, which is used with strong utility to the point where it transcends gimmickry. When the violin disappears the performance nears dullness which is a shame, because that means the band is strongest when operating in its least metal sense.

MacCauley, and the other material will be pushed as hard as it can go, or as much as I can do. This was written purposely around B minor with simple phrases and variations on a theme to be a single, or as much of a single I can write. The variations are tricky to play, especially for my other guitar player, and I am proud of this song. I don't want to write anything like this again though, future material will be like Abuse's 2 albums with Exhorder's 2nd, everything is faster in the fast parts. I would have to think hard on how to fit a full augmented chord, or 7 sharp 9 chords, I use diminished and augmented dyads, but i may incorporate triads and bigger chords, I have secret weapon chords I call them I use which I can now use the whole neck.

I'd say bands such as Neurosis, Godflesh, and Zeni Geva have released good to great records at some point in their "career", and even the bands like Acid Bath and Eyehategod have reached some point of somewhat decency in albums such as When the Kite String Pops and Dopesick in my opinion. As for what's considered stoner metal, or rock, there I can't recall any release I would consider to be "valid" as you say. Either way I don't know why doom would be part of the discourse, I would say there are plenty of valid doom metal albums to be found, at least compared to the other genres mentioned here

I would say there are many great doom albums such as Cathedrals Forest of Equilibrium, Solitude Aeturnus' first 2, Candlemass' First, Trouble's first, as well as others, and believe it or not, there are sludge albums that are much more than what the majority of the admittedly shitty genre spews out, Crowbar's first album thorugh and including Odd Fellows Rest, Acid Bath's Kite String, everything Abuse ever did, to even bands tangentially related like Exhorder's first two.

Doom is great, sludge has some good bands (eg Godflesh) and some shitty ones (eg Cult of Luna). Now stoner doom on the other hand, that is complete garbage.

For once in my life, I am really disappointed in you guys. You all bring forth some incredible thoughts and opinions on the topic of metal, but you guys FINALLY did something I could never imagine. All of you guys stated perhaps the shittiest of opinions I have ever witnessed. We all know that Dream Theater is the only good Sludge metal band and Through Silver and Blood by Neurosis would have never existed if it weren't for John Myung.
