What a shame! If a beautiful lady with a voice like yours was playing country blues classics note-for-note at my local bar, you bet I would listen in. Their loss!

Dear Christine, my grandma used to say, in italian, "perle ai porci!".. I don't know exactly how I may translate it in english, maybe "To cast pearls before swine", but your talent let shine also a piggery!! And it's fantastic to ear you playing at the end "I'm satisfied, tickled, too"! So glad to see what you've done in this years for our ears... Thanks for sharing your music from Naples, Italy

There has to be 1,000's of other places that would welcome you with open arms. People can be so self-absorbed and downright rude. Years ago, I heard a blues band doing a gig outside in a local park. They were awesome. I think I was one of the few actually paying attention. This was before KZbin. Even before the Internet. I was truly blessed to have had the chance to hear and see them play. You have the talent Christine. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. Please don't stop or get discouraged. Keep going. You can reach the top !!

It's these kind of gigs that make the good ones that much better. A lot like goin' fishin'. Keep on keepin' on.

o.o happy birth day to you. yeah location is right. you should play where you're more in the spotlight. louder. where things aren't so interrupting. like at a flea market or in a park or scenic part of town where people roam ^^

banjo--this is a great video! Any gigging musi can get this...my wife and I do a pub gig and while we are trying to get into a nice OCarolan tune, the plates and forks are chatterin' away...I can't believe you are doing that gig on a chair without a back, ouch...!

Giggin' ain't easy, but it's necessary, So you got to chase tunes like Tom chased Jerry. It is great to see that you have begun playing out.

God Bless You. I love your other posts. There is definitely a place for country blues but it wasn't at that place. Wishing you the best for future gigs.

Been there so many times. I've even played four thousand seat theaters opening for big names and the audience couldn't care less who you are or what you are doing. It's worth it though when they are finally coming only to see you. A guy that I toured with for years always says "Touring is like being in hell for 22 hours a day, but the other two make it all worth while." Keep on going, you're doing great!!
@buska10015 жыл бұрын
I've done a few gigs like that. "Casting Pearls before Swine" It is great the way you ignored their ignorance. The small child at the beginning was the only one to stop and take notice of the wonderful music. It all adds to the experience of believing in your music against all the odds. Much Respect!

i think the only place i would really try to gig is open mics at pubs/ bar shows or even a record store.. and festivals if possible.. it seems like a restaraunt would not work well because people are going there to eat with family and not really to see a group or solo artist..as with most things though im probably wrong.. my 2cents. good luck in the future and keep at it. you have alot of talent and if youre heart is with what you do you will succeed. peace & prosperity

Ok as painful as this is to watch I would've traded gigs with you in a heartbeat. I played my first gig at a place called Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta 2 weeks ago and it was TOTAL SILENCE. Freaked me out!!! You have an amazing voice and I wish I could pick like you. Keep on keepin' on!

Great to see you taking your music out to the people. I play in a pub jam every now & again but the nerves are always the same. A smattering of applause once in a while does wonders though!

dag, yo... hell of a scene goin' on there! props fer playin' out! i'm just startin' to get there myself... kinda makes you long for that quiet bedroom, huh? you sound great (as always). keep it up an' maybe try to find a less hectic place to play. but i guess every modern day country blues musician that plays out has to get used to being in the background at some point. it happens to the best of us...

Some gigs are tuff and this was a killer, I would love to see you in small clubs , coffee shops, galleries, bistros etc, where you will find an audience for your amazing music, there are plenty of us out there that would love to hear you play and be much more grateful than the people in that place. You did good though, you didnt look phased by the distractions etc, and if you can keep your head there you will do fine on stage Get yourself to a festival in England we love the blues here.

Reminds me of Hsiao-hsien Hou's film FLOWERS OF SHANGHAI, or a snippet from an early Denis Johnson short story. Great editing, sound and choice of footage. I'm sure you play a "Jump Salty" guitar, but the video seems beyond all that. You've plucked a lily from the mire.
@simple2you200013 жыл бұрын
They were content to feed their stomachs and ignored their ears and brain. How could so many walk by and not one but a little girl caught your talent? I hope I never miss such an opportunity. Come play at Kentuck Art Festival in Northport, AL for us who have found you. It is in Oct. and there is a web site.

when faced with the indifference of a crowd at gigs, instead of getting pissed off, which happened the first few times, I just thought of it as a paid rehearsal, and worked on my stuff doing my best to ignore the hubbub.

wow.. this HAS to be one of the MOST heartbreaking vids on YT. Anyone contemplating going out to gig in a restaurant would hang it up after viewing this. Kudos to you I PLAY BANJO, for doing it anyway. This is the true definition of payin' yer dues. My heart really went out to you when those people started singin' Happy Birthday.. pheww! Tough! The angle of the camera is nearly surreal- it seems to give the worst possible impression of this sad gig. I think I prefer the bedroom vids!

Aww, ditto to what heathdwatts wrote. Back in the day... when I had an audience besides my now departed bestest ever friend and companion Evinrude (cat), I played at an art festival with a couple podium speakers and a train went by. It was a very long train... You sound wonderful and keep creating.

I'm wishing you some better venues in the near future... -Paisley P.

Do you have any coffee shops in your town? They usually have music and your audience would probably be more attentive. Gigs like the one you're playing, and I've played them as a blues guitarist and a jazz saxophonist, are not worth the frustration. The people there don't care if you play or not. By the way, I've seen seen some of your other videos, and you're a great player and singer. You just need a more appropriate venue. I hope you can find one. Good luck!
