I have been giving this type of complaints a lot of thought. And I don't think there's a very effective way to tell everything there is to a story with gameplay alone. Like some parts yes but there's a limit to how much you can gamify the storytelling. I know it is a game but there has to be dialogue regardless. The quality of the dialogue matters a lot of course.

the entire point of aventurine and acheron's part of the quest was to prove that you cant die in the dreamscape, so no, they are not dead, they simply got sent to the exiled realm where i assume the finale will take place

The problem with that is, Acheron broke the dreamscape. Literally, her slash broke the sky. Aventurine may not be technically dead yet, but he's not alive. And until he can finds a way to come back from that, if he can, he's in the same boat as Tingyun. They are, effectively, just dead. That's what the whole part with Topaz and Jade was about. Aventurine told them he would give them an in, by dying, and giving the IPC grounds to demand the family start discussion with them. The bastard pulled off the ultimate impossible gamble. That being, that he could actually die.

@@nemasisdemarini8339I mean not exactly? Acheron’s words make it clear that he is within a realm of Nihility. The reason his stone registers as if he is dead is because Nihility is nothingness. The scenes with Black Swan show that what Nihility touches ‘erases’ things, so being near it would give the impression that he is dead even if he’s not. Acheron’s words make this clear as she says that he’s not where he thought (ie she didn’t kill him), but the choice to end up at such a fate is clearly his own as it is entirely possible to leave the realm.

@@arky5674 Just a note, but, his plan did not have anything to do with Acheron, originally. He legit, was just winging it the whole time. When he had arrived, he hadn't known what he was going to do to get them through the door, but at the end of the day, his bet was the same one he always places: His life. Also, Ratio explicitly stated that death *isn't* the thing that's impossible in the dreamscape. "The impossible in a dream is not 'death', but 'dormancy.'" I believe were his exact words. Meaning, it is very much possible to "die" within a dream. It may be a different kind of death, and may be presented in a different way. But it most certainly is possible. And it is also certainly death.

Absolutely. I do think some people saying it's a bit "word soup-y" do have a fair point, but I don't mind that kind of writing if it's handled well. It almost reminds me a bit of Fate, at least to the point that I can see the inspiration. But after the disappointment of the Xianzhou (coming off the fairly standard, but enjoyably done Belobog) this story has so far restored my faith in HSR to pull off a story that can actually get me invested. I never played HI3 but I have some respect for Shaoji after this, even if the man is a sneaky fiend on the livestreams lol.

As Acheron said, nobody truly dies in the dreamscape, in fact they're pretty much alive and kickin', and by "they" I mean Robin, Aventurine, and now Sunday. Because when you "die" in a dreamscape there are only 2 possibilities: You either wake up to the real world, OR you got sent to "the other side" of Penacony where you can find the "truth" behind Penacony, the "true land of exile" as Acheron called it. Now the only one who could seemingly send you to "the other side" is the Meme/Death, that's how Robin got sent there, and seemingly Sunday will also join her. But Aventurine deduced that Acheron's sword could also send someone straight to the other side as well, and he gambled on this deduction by actively challenging her, and he was proven right. Now Firefly on the other hand, ALSO tried to go there to reveal the "truth" but failed 11 times, strangely enough the Meme couldn't send her there, that's why she asked Acheron to use her sword against her, so that she could get killed and finally go to the other side, but Acheron refused. So yeah, in conclusion, none of the characters are dead so far.

Amazing story update, too bad it was riddled with mistranslations that have a pretty huge impact on the story. The most notable one is the "minion of enigmata" that they had to emergency patch in because the english translation just skipped that part even though it's a huge lore drop, I was lucky enough to hear about it online otherwise I would never have known that he said that because I played through the story really early. Another egregious example is when Acheron and Aventurine talk and he says "It's our Stellaron friend's indentity, isn't it?". This is just straight up wrong, the direct translation is supposed to be "It's that persons identity isn't it?". The problem is that they aren't talking about the trailblazer at all. If you disregard this line it's pretty obvious that they're talking about Firefly from context and this mistranslation makes the lines before and after seem way more confusing than they actually are supposed to be. Now we're also finding out that "mute" was translated as "rock" when Sparkle told Aventurine to "find a rock to be friends with" which turns out to be a huge hint she was giving him. Overall this is really embarassing for hoyo standards and they need to adress this in future updates. Penacony is already a pretty confusing story with tons of moving parts and characters being mysterious but these mistranslations just makes things worse.

I think "Mute" works as well because they put emphasis on people not being able to speak (ie: they cant communicate with anyone in the real world, nor inside Penacony due to the wall). "Rock" wouldn't make sense with that context. "It's our Stellaron friend's identity, isn't it?" is more of a voice directing issue. It should have an emphasis on "friend", as in the trailblazer's friend. Remember, they referred to the trailblazer as a Stellaron before. So while it's not a good line, it technically isn't incorrect. I do agree they should have reworded it, though. I also played it before they patched in "minion of enigmata" so I was confused when I seen it on another playthrough. I'd say it's not "embarassing for hoyo standards" as the average player wouldn't notice. Now the translation errors in Genshin are another issue. There's still issues in the Mondstadt Archon Quest that were NEVER fixed. And dont even get me started on Rukkhadevata and Kusanali being label as "he" until like 2.5.

In the original 2.0 Sparkle says rock instead of mute but then in 2.1 Aventurine says she told him to find a mute because that was an important hint. And players like myself were really confused because we played with the original script so the thing about finding a mute came from nowhere. I do somewhat agree that "our stellaron friends identity" could maybe have been salvaged with some voice direction and small edits but's its still a bad translation that's confused me and many others.

Though if I'm being honest, while Penacony is far better than Xianzhou, I feel like it's been all over the place on what they want the audience to pay attention to and where the story lies. It was interesting to begin with but I feel like it's a story with very strong bursts with tons of mystery boxes but it all feels disjointed when out together. The Astral Express as a whole feels incredibly disconnected from everything save for Welt. Perhaps I don't "get it" but the praise I've seen Penacony's story has been getting is kinda baffling to me

The fact that I tried to do this pre nerf Aventurine with a level 60 Gallagher with level 4 traces as my solo sustain with level 70 Pela and Sampo in my Acheron team. I somehow managed to get to 2nd phase and got him below 50%. Same with my 2nd try but Luocha replaced Gallagher. I only managed to beat him on my 3rd try by yeeting Sampo out of the team and putting my overworked preservation Caelus (along with Luocha) in my Acheron team.

I love watching Garnt play the boss battles in HSR. For us veteran players, bosses are too easy at this point, especially in story mode. Seeing him waste his skill points, not really planning ahead, and ready to sacrifice SW bc of his mistake was wayyy too hilarious and fun lmao! It was so funny seeing SW survive that long. It showed how great Fu Xuan is. I really love the struggle lol! The last struggle I had was Argenti boss, and that was bc I brought my OG (main trio, March not built) and Bronya. I think I'll bring 4 stars in the next boss battle or something! Love the 1x too! XD

I mean honestly, you usually don't expect any non-dedicated HSR or even hoyoverse streamers to adequately know the mech and tech of the game (don't even start on the story). So when I watch these kind of streamers like Gigguk, I just go in for a laughfest over their sillyness. No offense taken and no rude comment spilled from me 😂. Also their chat are usually 95% of the time are either dumb or trolling so just ignore that lmao But I agree tho, story boss was never that difficult in any of hoyoverse games. HI3 is probably the only one with "difficult" story boss, but then again they sometime lent us trial characters on newest chapter, which usually better and newer than my old built valk there 🗿, so it kinda even up. But you also can just bruteforce anything with HoT nonetheless.

Did this fight with March, Luocha, Pela and Argenti. Basically had Argenti do all the damage and saved everyone's ults to AOE the dice. It's a lot easier to beat Adventurine's number when you can hit all four dice. It took a LONG time to finish (Argenti's single target dmg is only really good with his full ultimate), but I was never at a real risk of losing.

There are very different vibes between the dubs, in the EN voice Acheron sounds too emotional and Aventurine sounds kinda strange. In the JP voice Acheron sound kinda indifferent, not much emotions, like a emanator of nihility, a voice of pointlesness and Aventurine kinda sounds tired

I think Acheron is the strongest character we've seen actually do something in any Hoyoverse story, isn't she ? (I'm talking we've seen their capabilities, not like the archons from Genshin or the Thirteen from HI3rd) Edit: It seems I still wasn't clear enough, Acheron is the strongest character we've seen USE her powers, in Genshin, the archons never fought, we only know they are strong because of lore. It's the same with every strong beings in those 3 games (apparently GGZ is different but I can't comment on that) Acheron is not even close to being the strongest in the Hoyoverse, but she is the strongest character that we've SEEN use her strength

I'd say so. Herrschers and Archons are of the same level mostly, with some Herrschers being stronger. Even before being an Emanator, Acheron alone faced and defeated End (Finality) which was arguably the strongest foe to date on Honkai Impact/Genshin. After that she acquired the unique power of the united blades (Herrschers cores) and became an Emanator, so she must be even more powerful. Also, the animation made it clear how much more powerful the Aeons are, Honkai Star Rail power scale is on another level right now. I don't know if she is the strongest though, because there are still the Lord Ravagers and some members of the IPC have gemstones more powerful than Aventurine's.

Personally, I wanted cool dude in power armor and I don't like Firefly.
