Toyota White Smoke - ECU Software Update using GTS Techstream - EG-0096T-1011

Short video on how to use GTS Techstream to update the ECU in Toyota / Lexus cars.
I am trying to fix some "White smoke from exhaust" problem on a Toyota Avensis 2.0 T270 from 2011.
After many complaints from the owners , Toyota came with a technical bulletin EG-0096T-1011 which addresses exactly this problem. In order to fix the issue , Toyota recommend updating the ECU. In this video I am going to show you how.
To perform this update you will need GTS Techstream software and a PassTrough interface that connects to the car via USB. In my case I used Tactrix Openport : www.tactrix.com/index.php

If you have a pass trough interface , the whole operation would cost you 10eur instead of maybe 100-200eur that the dealer would want for this.

Nice Job!!! I was thinking that to use the official TechStream software to make any operation you have to have an official PassThru device with official serial#. Thanx for clear explanation!

Well ANY version of Techstream installed on the computer will work, even if it is not activated I believe. Remember to Like my video if it was useful.

Very useful vídeo! I have a Avensis from 2009 with the same.intermitent white smoke problem Did this update solve totally this behaviour? I Have a generic / clone techstream obd , bought from aliexpress, shoud this be enough to perform this update ? Thank you

Hello, Please, my Toyota Verso 2010 is having the same problem as the video you have done. I called the Toyota dealer and explained to them what the problem was and told them it was a software update that was required. Toyota won't accept to do the software update but wants me to pay 175 pounds without VAT for a diagnosis before they can consider the software update. The challenge now is I can't do the process myself because I don't have the equipment to install this update. What is your advice, please? My car is embarrassing me.

I am using it also for diagnostics with techstream , no problems there.

Salut Gigi. Ai putea să ne spui ce adaptor J2534 folosești? Cel original de la Tactrix fabricat în USA sau altul? Eu am deja TechStream instalat dar am doar un adaptor Bluetooth care nu cred că e pe lista celor acceptate. Am schimbat injectoarele și filtrul de particule pentru că scotea un fum negru, mașina nu mai dă acum nici o eroare dar nu pornește. Mulțumesc!

Think so yes. All depends on what the Toyota software will see and validate as ok voltage.
