Did Minelab ever fix the leaking problem with the Nox800
@leskobrandon5383 жыл бұрын
If you can do this test, why can't mine lab? And make the change during the manufacturing process?
@burriedhistory3 жыл бұрын
That was a creative way of finding the leakage spot. I believe Minelab knows where the problem is... 😟

Nice test, but you should give it more time. It also had a slow leak at the base of the coil wire connection. You might want to remove the silicone (from the top of the coil wire connection, and any other place) and remove the temporary covering from the speaker.

Great informative test and very clever! Tough spot to seal up because you dont want to block your charger cord to connect to the port... maybe a thin 2 part epoxy or superglue baking soda? or maybe superglue alone.? Maybe hold a vaccum nozzle on the battery port and apply some kind of glue to the crack so the glue gets sucked in

NIce test there Gigmaster. Have seen lots of videos showing that the Equinox can leak, that's why I bought the Excalibur 2 so I didnt have to get my Nox wet. The Excal takes a lot of getting used to after using the Nox for nearly 3 years. Happy hunting

I have and love both detectors...i just like having number Ids to look at rather than relying on tone...i wish there was some way to waterproof the nox with a waterproof enclosure

Very informative.. Where did you get the idea to use dry ice? I can remember 30 years ago they would send blocks of it to keep grocery loads cold.
@Gigmaster3 жыл бұрын
I am familiar with the physics of dry ice so it was an easy experiment.
@DIG_50503 жыл бұрын
Nice test, Gig. Looks like a great way to test your ‘Nox or to diagnose a potential leak location. Dry ice is not always easy to get, but it sure works great as shown in your video. I hope the warranty comes through for you. Now, lets move on to some of that yummy barbecued pulled pork from a while back. Keep Digging!

Thank you for your sacrifice sir, I just bought 2 800s for me and my son and I seen the other you sealed your machine video and I totally crossed my fingers for you I was hoping you got it and it seemed you covered all bases . . I’m paranoid but I think knowledge is everything so thank you very much for your video I’m going to seal my machines I don’t plan on super submerging them but I want to play in the river. I’ve only found one other person sealing their machine and I was wondering how common is it for them to leak because I’ve seen a lot of videos where the guy is announcing he just got his machine back because of a leak . Hopefully because I am a new proud owner it’s not that common haha but I didn’t wanna stuff my ctx 3030 in the river so this will be the alternative . Are you going to get that one repaired ? I was wondering if you knew how much that was out of warranty? Anyways take care and thanks

Looks like a detector that cost almost a thousand dollars could make a detector that doesn't leak and a coil that doesn't break!!

That's an odd place to have a leak! Let us know how you resolve this issue, Gig!❤️
@SandBoy4083 жыл бұрын
Well...i had cracks around my 4 handle screws. When i´ve seen bubbles coming from overthere, i`ve soon realized...Think is the force you apply to the handle, expecially inside the water or, worst, with 15¨ coil inside the water. Always gently sweep in the water or when surfing...avoiding "double speed" on the target. Try to pass some silicon grease on that parts, usb slot, cable connector and so on. There is nothing you can do with some other kind of leaking, related to gore vent or 0-rings problems. If you want to seal it 100%, make the Sea Ghost modification.

Awesome video. Mine has water behind the lens. I’ll seal mine out as soon as I get it dried out. What’s the best way to completely dry it out?

Great experiment 👍. Now how is a guy gonna seal that without messing up the charge port? Great video I was surprised when the one you sealed up leaked, but now that makes sense. Hope minelab can fix this issue, it is costing everyone money.

May be a stupid question, but does anyone use some kind of cover for the charging port? I do into the surf and want to protect that area. The port is exposed to the elements. Thanks!

Awesome Awesome video…! Very disappointing seeing where that leak is. That is no fault of your own, and although they have taken care of you in the past, …….come on Minelab..! I’m sure I’m not the only one who bought an 800 with all 3 coils because of you…..!! EDIT…Equinox flooded 5 minutes ago….knee deep water, unit suddenly had a dime size water drop behind the screen, went into a FP….and then ER 61, and now won’t turn on. 3 hours from home, 3 rings found yesterday…..😭😭😭😭😭

Good detection, but poor craftsmanship, sketchy reliability, and overseas customer support. You'd figure that when you buy a $800 detector, you wouldn't have to expect it to break so easily.

This is the last time im gonna tell you this. Fisher 1280x aquanaut will be a better machine. I tell you this each time, you dont listen, and then you pay, over and over and over and over. Gig, listen, pick up one used on ebay. So many parts are field repairable and mine has never leaked in over 20 years.
