So he missed a couple games and had lower minutes as a precaution. They aren't trying to waste his talent on a lost season. However, they do want him to play to get the experience necessary to develop into something greater come next season. Right now it's about "Let's hold this 'L' and look at what we can do in the off-season and draft."

Seems a way better system. In Football(soccer), some of the best goalkeepers can often be playing in the worst teams, coz this is where they are the more usefull (and they tend to be cheaper than strikers for smaller teams). Guillermo Ochoa or Chilavert would be the first examples that popped into my mind, but there are many mores. And nobody ever downplayed their qualities, they did win several awards. I don't really understand the point of valuing team results in an individual award.

I understand the entertainment value McCants adds but most of his takes are reflective of someone who isn’t actually watching NBA games consistently. Wemby is definitely already top 20 just based off stats alone and off talent and skill level he is top 15…I actually love how Pop is coaching him, they essentially sacrificed this year to truly learn more about Wemby and the level of his capabilities translated into the NBA game…his teammates are all young as well and are all trying to showcase their own talent so they can cop a bag later…a lot of them will be gone in a year or two

He only sits Wemby when he's clearly tired and heavy breathing or if he's in foul trouble because he wants him in the final minutes. Going into his rookie season everyone said he needs to add muscle but now they can't see the kid gets tired because everyone puts a body on him leaning against him and pushing him all game while he's also trying to block every shot on the other side of the court.

We got off of it but he hurt his shoulder before the rockets game and ankle in the start of the rockets recent game. We missed a few games and had 1 game with a restriction. He plays until he's tired or in foul trouble. The spurs are top 5 in pace in the NBA, he came from a french league that played slow physical basketball. He didn't have the stamina early in the season because he want used to that type of play it's really not that complicated but everyone wants to create narratives to pretend he's leaving SA already.

If you watch the games, especially lately, Wemby is playing around 33 minutes. And Pop ain't pulling him because he's mad at him for doing something wrong, he is pulling him because Wemby is gassed and pointing to the bench. Pop started him slow and has been opening the gate more and more as the season goes on, letting Wemby adjust to the NBA game, letting his body adjust to all of the games and letting his endurance get better.

It's a good question Gil's Arena asked Joker, Doncic, SGA, Giannis, Wemby, AD An extremely talented Center or PF is much harder to come across than a talented guard, you really got to be an exceptional Guard to be locked early in this fantasy draft. Honorable mention: Anthony Edwwards: Luca and SGA are slightly ahead so why him when you can have them? Embiid: He is too fragile and has a proven track record of butchering his own playoffs Curry: He really needs the perfect fit around him LB: Getting too old but he still has it Tatum: a team player and strong in defense > he doesn't need a team to fit him - he just fits in every team. KD: He has proven that he can not be THE guy Lillard: He just gave up on being THE guy to become a Lieutenant Sengun: He is a must have, baby Jokic but why him when you can have Jokic?

Wemby is playing the right amount of minutes right now. In France he was playing 30 game seasons. 82 games is a huge jump, and you can see Wemby getting gassed from time to time. Wemby's style of play involves running very fast up and down the court AND playing in the post getting triple teamed. That would leave any player gassed. Luckily, his mentality and work ethic are next level, and he hits the weight room after every single game, so fatigue shouldn't be too much of an issue by his 3rd season.

David Robinson's rookie season was the biggest win/loss change I ever saw. He retired with the best +/- ever too. Wemby is 3 or 4 years younger though. He's not able to single handedly crush teams like Shaq and Robinson did as Rookies, but his potential is higher.

The issue is with his play style and weight it isn't a good team fit with spurs to win games. The rest of the team has to alter their play style to let him have the ball and play his game also. It's why they're still a bad team and them having wemby isn't creating wins. They need a starting dominant rebounding big man to play center. Then play wemby like a semi KD but at power forward. Therefore the team can run a good offense, wemby can play the paint and shoot perimeter shots bc they'll actually have a center to help rebound. Plus he'll get a extra height advantage over the other PF. Then if defense switches center to guard him spurs center will have an advantage on the other teams PF in the paint who got switched on him.
