SGA went to Christian Academy in Chattanooga TN his junior & senior years of HS, because he felt he needed to improve and needed better competition in his own words. Then he went to Kentucky U. So you look at two guys in the Top 4 of MVP voting, their foreign born but large parts of their game were honed in American institutions, unlike Giannis, Luka, Jokic or Wemby. Even Domantas Sabonis was born and lived in Portland OR until he was 8, because his dad Arvydas played with the Blazers. Then he went to play in Spain and that’s pretty much where he played from 9 to adult. He’s Eastern European in ancestry like Luka or Jokic, but he didn’t grow up there. Anthony Edwards is getting 27/5/5 his 4th year and Mike Conley runs the Timbs offense and KAT is putting up big numbers too. Gobert is in the paint getting rebounds and blocks. You put him on a small ball team like Dallas and he dominates the ball all game like Luka or Harden in Houston, his stats jump. Not saying he’s better, but he doesn’t have an usage rate close to Luka’s. Ant’s usage rate is probably closer to Kyrie’s. Paolo Banchero is 23/7/5 as 2nd year player. I think Chet will be an All Star by his 3rd season, if he can stay healthy and keep getting stronger. Only people stopping Zion & Ja are Zion & Ja. The off court shyt, which is leading to lack of playtime, inferior conditioning and injuries. Ja isn’t overweight, but I think his body was used to that NBA regular season grind, due to the suspension and he got hurt, shortly after coming back. So there are great American players in the pipeline. Giannis and Jokic are both 29, so I give them 5-6 more years before they decline due to age and nagging injuries. Luka and Wemby are generational talents both 25 and under, so they’ll be dominating for another decade, unless there’s a bad injury that occurs.

Most of them international guys really aren’t international they went to school in the USA and lived here for a period of time. What people consider international is people who played professionally overseas. That’s why people don’t look at Canadians as international players. Joel was born overseas moved to Florida then went to Kansas that’s why he wanted to play for the USA. Wiggins went to prep school in America then went to college in America. And he is from Toronto America most likely wasn’t foreign to him. When you break down some of these players they lived in America for a period of time. They were born somewhere else.

Since when do we discuss 450 basketball players? We always discuss the top 5-10 AT BEST. Now that the top 5-10 is being shaken up by international players we want to move the goal post? @@justified004 If we were to measure where the bulk of revenue comes from in terms of the NBA, it would be from the top players which is why they pour so much money behind marketing the very best, the tickets, merch, tv deals, fans buy into a very small percentage of players so let's not act like we're talking about 450 players. It's like a record label, when they want to sell an artist on joining their label, they don't mention the 110th artist, they name the top 3-5 names because those are the names that makes the label just like it's the top players that makes the NBA, if they are bad then the league suffers, if the rest are bad nobody cares, just look at the 90s and every era before. We don't talk about reserves. That's just moving the goalpost and you know it.

The top 3 selling jerseys are Americans and 7 of the top 10 are too. This argument is about which team would win in an All-Star game setting, USA or International. Like I said, the international team has a comparable if not slightly better starting 5 but no professional game is played with ONLY 5 guys. You have to have reserves and the international team falls off a cliff once you go to the bench. Whereas the USA team stay at an elevated level with its reserves. I don't deny that the Euros have arguably 4 of the top 5 but after that USA has arguably 20 of the top 25. The bottom line is that the Euros are top heavy.

The fact of the matter is, right now the best players in the league are international players. When we discuss the best, we're talking about guys in the MVP race and/or the top 5 at best the top 10. The highest ranking players right now are International players, widely considered the best players are Jokic, Giannis, Embiid and Luka. It's really that simple. There was nothing more to it. No one is debating that 4 of the top 5 are Euros, as that is already proven true. 5 of the last MVPs were won by Giannis, Jokic, and Embid, but none of that matters when making a complete roster for a game. Why do you think Rashad listed 10 guys? I'll say it again, once you get to the reserves, the team looks completely different. Also, to act like that international 5 is way better than what the USA would have is crazy. Steph, Tatum, LeBron, KD and AD are a great squad. Add Kyrie, Edwards, Kawhi, Dame, and PG then their 10 is far better than what Rashad named. USA has far more ball handlers, great shooting, better defense, and way more experience. I agree that the best player is European but it's not a takeover when 8 of the last 10 chips where won by an American star and 20 of the top 25 are still American. If Giannis or Jokic when 1 or 2 more chips in the next 2 or 3 years, then I'd agree.
