Brown deserved it, point blank period. But all of this better player talk is foolish. Tatums the better player simply off of the fact that he’s held to a higher standard. Brown played above his standard this playoff series, Tatum offensively played slightly below. If Tatum averages his typical 30 8 & 8 on 47% he wins it no question. Let Brown have his well deserved moment but get these Tatum haters disguised as Brown supporters out of here.

Also, Tatum spent most of the 3rd and 4th quarter stat padding when the game was essentially over. Their coach basically allowed both Tatum and Brown to play one on one the entire 2nd half of the 3rd quarter and the 4th accumulating stats and boosting their finals averages. Leadership is defending the best player on the team, doing by example, taking on the challenge, performing on the court. The Boston Celtics have designed an offense to put the ball in Tatum’s hand even though he isn’t a point guard, and are almost forcing trying to make a Tatum the man - even though he isn’t…he misses more bunnies around the rim than anyone. Brown made the big shots, had the big moments, defended the best players, suffocated them into submission, took on the toughest assignments. Tatum is guarding PJ Washington and Brown covering Luka. Been saying JB is their best player for years. Also being the most efficient player on the team. Far more efficient than Jayson Tatum. Always has been.

I’m honestly getting a little run down by stats. I hate to drag LeBron into this but it’s the best example. It’s not just stats earned, He earned it by his play. He doesn’t stat pad, he plays hard. Brown didn’t win because of narrative or anything. When you watched the game his impact on both ends was the most mesmerizing things for Boston. Whether it’s closing the game, having the highlight dunks, highlight blocks, picking up 94 ft, being consistent throughout the playoffs. He earned it. Point blank. Tatum played well but inconsistent. However, he adapted his game and he deserves credit for that.

By the way, Luka averaged 34 a game in the regular season. He averaged 29.2 in this series. He shot 49 percent in the regular season. He shot 47 percent in this series. His numbers in Game 5 were largely fluff as they were down 21 at half. And never got closer than 16. He has 9 at half and finished with 28 in a game they lost by 18. In Game 3, Luka shot 41 percent and Brown also fouled him out of the game. Is Nick Young high up there? Can’t take him seriously. Respecting a legacy and saying someone is better is not the same thing. And Gil, 7 media members chose Jaylen Brown over Jayson Tatum - so you are wrong. 70 percent of the people think Brown was better in this series. Period. Making a contested 3 on a pass while someone gets an assist doesn’t mean the passer did anything. Jaylen brown was dominant in games 1/2/3. It’s a series, not a one game sample. Who has the ball? So Draymond Green should be MVP cause the offense runs through him at Golden State. It always has, always will.
