What Gil doesn’t take into consideration is most kids interested in NIL deals don’t have wealthy ex-nba dads. They’re jumping at the opportunity

Has nothing to do with money. Let’s be real here, most of these kids are coming from homes with single mothers. Women are easier to finesse by telling them what they want to hear or dreams of materialism. It’s a lot harder to finesse men who are principled protective of their kids. Gil said it himself that they go to the Mom.

Just do your best to set your kids up for success whatever path they choose, be it in athletics, business, or academics. Your kids don’t owe you anything in life, if you raise them with ample love, guidance, and respect they’ll more than likely reciprocate that later on in life to the best of their abilities.

@@professionaltrollkilla5965 good point and very true. but that doesn’t mean money doesn’t entice families. Not truly understanding what this paperwork meant for my future being that young. After acquiring thousands of dollars of debt to which I paid off in my 30s can I then hold this same standard to the Pell grant and other loaning practices set on kids made by colleges! @@SolaceMcfly ., You haven't read any real spiritual books. Yes, if you read real ancient text, it is revealed that before we come to this realm, we have a choice to come here. Not only that, the 2 parents You get are chosen by you, because they have traits, characteristics, and personality make up, you need to come to know yourself. Everything is choices. Just like a baby, when they learn to walk, they choose the direction they want to walk in. Just like teenagers choose their friends; people choose careers or marriage mates. Coming here to earth is a choice. Choices don't start at age 18, it's starts by you choosing to come to earth. It's is the child, while in the spirit form, who chooses which set of parents matched, that will give them the body they need to learn to master themselves, or as it is written, come to "knowthyself." Of course I don't expect you to inner-stand any of what I wrote, if you are not on a certain spiritual level of understanding. Also, your comment justifies abortions. Why, because more than likely, that child would turn out to be an ungrateful pos, and take his patents for granted. Not drafted. Player had dreams and goals of nba and fell short. But still got a taste of nba money - a kickstart to life post college. What’s the problem here? I get what Gil is saying but his kids are part of the top 1% of the top 1% in college athletics. What NIL deal can a company give his son that is going to surpass the upbringing he has been able to provide as a former $100M+ NBA player.

These PRO PLAYER podcasts miss the whole point. You are only getting ONE perspective. It’s easy for Gil to say that, HE GOT MONEY!!!!!! And what’s crazy is all these athletes are just HIGH PAID EMPLOYEES!!!! Yall Cats ain’t free at all!!!! Yall pimp yall selves out like you always did. These kids and families have NO CLUE about money. They never made money and never had money. Get some regular fans and people on there to get the other perspective.

well gil has money and his kid has access to the resources, some of these kids can get better resources and support w/money or can help their family if they NEED; gil made it due to his hard work and dedication but also his luck... not everyone has that... so yeah he can make decisions others cant

I see both sides. If parents doing what they say they're doing then thats wrong. Taking ownership of anybody business that's not yours is crazy. They said something about a lifetime likeness or contract? NIL aint worth it of thats the case. Mfs can wait 1-4 years On the other side thats why we wanted to play ball. We see it as a way out. The house and cars parents gonna want, they were going to get once whoever got in the nba. It just can happen sooner than later. Plus everybody aint goin to the league or having a long career. This might be a lotta guys only opportunity at a big pay day

A perspective coming from a place of privilege. This convo is for the 1%. To the other 99% that ain’t making the pros in their respective sport rack up as much NIL money you can get your hands on. Hopefully you have a lawyer to protect yourself but acting like there isn’t people thats broke and can say “no” is wild

That shows the lack of morals in this american society, but i somewhat disagree with them about the "pimping the kids out" some these family need the money bad and of course the kid is going to want to provide for his family. It shows how some people put money over family, if thats the case its wrong, but to provide for your family because thats what need to be done should be the only option.

This is a terrible conversation to have with guys who don't understand how college football works. Johnny Manzell said it on Shannon's show. Before NIL deals, every school had a bagman. If you were in the top 25 you were getting offered bags from different schools just to go there. There's nothing wrong with NIL deals
