Manu was crucial to those spurs championships and he actually sacrificed individual accolades to make the team better. You also gotta factor in his absurd overseas accomplishments. Pure numbers don’t always tell the whole story. It is the basketball hof, not the nba hof.

There are vídeos of Manu ginobili was one of the best ofensives players in the nba, giving 20 average points over the Detroit team that Kobe strugges in 2004, rondo cant shot , was a ballhog, Ginóbili shot, playmaking, pass, 6,6 guard, defend. Why 2008 usa call "the redeem team"? Because Manu giving 30 points in their faces in 2004 thats why .

@@4363HASHMI A none shooter in his spot would have made it much harder on the team, especially in that 05 series and manu shot 39% from three that series. Manu was just more dynamic than rondo. People always use the system as an excuse and while Ginobili did fit a system he sacrificed for, the system also changed for him. There's a reason Pop himself said he had to let Manu be Manu and figure out a way to fit him in by letting him go wild on the second unit while the Parker and Duncan 2 man game was holding it down in the first unit. They say the same thing about Duncan and Parker but the system at first for Duncan was "give him the ball in the post and be open if he needs you and on defence run people off the 3 and mid into the paint so Duncan can defend the drives" while Parker was "give him the ball, run pnr and let him get to his floater". The true "system" people remember is the 2014 Spurs but it wasn't always like that.

We need that unfiltered story from Lexi on why she left Maryland. I remembered when she transferred. She was one of the highest profile transfers before people really started transferring with consistency. I initially thought it was because when she went to Maryland they were still in the ACC and so her being from GA her family could see her play more often. Then by her second year they had joined the Big Ten. Lexi give up that story! Especially now with MD having all them high profile transfers like Angel Reese, Ashley Osuwu, Shakira Austin, etc…

You use team success because at the end of the day it’s a team sport. So how you’re able to adjust, and become a champion matters. Manu is elite in comparison to Jamal Crawford for instance because he could have started, and done well on a lot of teams being a key piece. He sacrificed for the good of the team. He played with that one goal in mind which is winning. “You play to win the game”. Being able to adjust, and play key roles in success should matter. The tier idea of the HOF is great, Bill Simmons recommended it in like 2009 in His original Book of Basketball. The more I listen to Gil and McCants I realize that not every current or former player should be taken seriously. They can have a voice and a platform, but it doesn’t mean they have any substance.

Manu deserves to be there because he volunteered to help his team by coming off the bench just like Kevin McHale. Plus it's the basketball hall of fame and his international accomplishments are plenty deserving. Not even counting his Olympic career.

With a guy like Terry the Jet that would be a deadly offensive team. Or a roster like the offensively great early 2000s Mavs players and pieces

two players who never won who i would start building a team with would be Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley. those two together could be championship material!! Give them a nice catch-and-shoot 3pt guy... uhm... ok, wait. Al Horford, right? Shawn Kemp for sure oh my god man i used to have those shoes...

Why not have an NBA global week? Like 4 teams go to Italy, 4 teams go to France, 4 teams go to Tokyo, 4 teams go to Moscow, 4 teams go to Rio etc. They all play each other once or twice. Players bring their families.

@gilsarena In baseball they judge who did great things for the game, not just stats or rings. LIke, Gil did so much to bring stuff to the game. His play and attitude made people watch, even if they watched to root for him to fail, they tuned in and he BALLED OUT! Did not cheat the game. Brought viewers to smaller market teams. I hated every team he was on but I was watching them games. He gave other players the confidence to bet on theyself. Made the game more exciting than them punch the clock dudes, pretending to be humble. He made it okay for players to say "Yo, I know what I bring, now watch me work.". The Manu downplay is ridiculous, Gil says he was never considered a top 50 player of his time, yet Manu was a two time all star, and relied on countless time for his scoring and playmaking during his many championships in the NBA and globally.

HOF is also what you do outside the league. Gasol and Manu definitely should be in for what they did in Euro. T-Max was amazing but definitely not good just cause he had a high peak. Didn’t really accomplish anything. Gil had a crazy high peak for instance, but we can agree he wouldn’t be in just cause he was “feared”.

I understand what you mean with the Hall of Fame being more based on individual success. But in a case like Manu, when you are on a team with other star players that was there before you, we would never really know. James Harden was a decent player on the OKC and didnt really see his full potential until he left. Now he is easily a Hall Of Fame player ring or no ring. But if he stayed with OKC his whole career with Russ and KD and they win 5 rings, Harden would probably barely average over 20 but still had the talent. But he would still deserve the Hall Of Fame for being a key factor for helping them win a championship
